UCONN Lady Huskies Win 8th National Title Beating Louisville by Largest Margin in Finals History 93-60!!!

WOOO-HOOO, Ladies Night in the Big Easy as UCONN wins big … Simply the Best!!!

The University of Connecticut Lady Huskies have won their 8th NCAA Woman’s Basketball Championship by beating the Louisville Cardinals 93-60. It is the 8th championship for Huskie head coach Geno Auriemma, tying him with the immortal Tennessee Vol head coach Pat Summitt. After 5 to 8 minutes into the game, the game was over. With 13:52 left in the first half UCONN found them self behind 14-10 and the Huskies went on a 19-0 run and the rest was history. The Huskies lead at the half 48-29 and then outscored Louisville 45-31 in the second half to go on to a record largest margin of victory in a Woman’s final 93-60.

It was the largest margin of victory in the history of the women’s championship game. UConn has beaten Louisville 12 consecutive times dating back to 1993. Auriemma is only two championships shy of tying legendary UCLA coach John Wooden for the most titles won by any coach at the major college level.

Connecticut (35-4) made 13 of 26 3-point shots and raced to a 19-point halftime lead. The Huskies eventually stretched the lead to 35 points.

Move over Kerry Bascom, Rebecca Lobo, Jen Rizzotti, Sue Bird, Maya Moore and even Diana Taurasi .  There is a new sheriff in town, she is a freshman, and was named  the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player … her name is Breanna Stewart. Stewey for short. What a talent and Geno has her for another 3 more years. Breanna Stewart scored 23 points for UConn with nine rebounds and was one of five Huskies to score in  double figures. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis made five 3-pointers and finished with 18 points. The UCONN Huskies set a Finals record for 3′s as well. And probably more fitting than anything, beloved senior Kelly Faris in her final game for UCONN scored 16 points, pulled down 9 rebounds and was her typical defensive stopper raising havoc in helping the Huskies hold Louisville to 37% shooting and 22% 3 point shooting.

Congrats to the UCONN LADY HUSKIES. What makes this National title probably the most rewarding for Geno and the Huskies is that this was supposed to be a down year. It was supposed to be a rebuilding year. UCONN had been bested by the Irish in recent years and lost to them in the Big East Finals. However, that was 6 games ago and what seems like forever ago. In a year that was supposed to be a down one, the Lady Huskies finish 35-4, win the National Championship going away and crushed all who got in their way. Their average margin of victory for the tournament, 35 points.

In what is the swan song of the “BIG EAST” Conference as we know it, the Men’s and Woman’s champs both come from what will be known as the greatest NCAA basketball conference in history. What a shame that university presidents and their greed had to screw it up.

The local hometown Huskie newspaper may have summed it all up the best. The New Haven Register reported, while ESPN spent the entire season promoting the trio of seniors, it was not Baylor’s Brittney Griner, Notre Dame’s Skylar Diggins or Elena Delle Donne of Delaware who dazzled the nation during the women’s Final Four. Brittney Griner and  Elena Delle Donne both lost in the Sweet 16. Notre Dame and Skylar Diggins, who had previously beat UCONN three times this year, were crushed by the Huskies in the National Semi Finals 83-65. So, instead of the three that ESPN promoted … the role was more than ably filled by UConn freshman Breanna Stewart. And will be for years to come.

Cuba Will Turn Over to the United States Authorities Missing Florida Family, Including Abducted Brothers Chase & Cole Hakken

You just can’t make this stuff up. Who would have thought that the missing persons case of Chase and Cole Hakken would wind up in Cuba and be a reverse Elián González story? Although, Joshua Hakken may have wanted to have chose another country that did not have an extradition treaty with the US.

Late Tuesday afternoon,  Cuba said that it would return the Florida couple and the kidnapped bothers, 2 year old Chase and 4 year old Cole Hakken to the United States.  Joshua Michael Hakken and his wife Sharyn Hakken, who had their parental rights taken away from them, abducted their two sons from their grandmother and sailed to Havana, Cuba aboard  Joshua Hakken’s new purchased 1972 Morgan, 25 foot sailboat “Salty”.  The boat, named “Salty” was spotted at the Hemingway Marina in Havana. No one knew initially what the Cuban government would do with regards to the couple and the kidnapped brothers.  Cuba and the US are hardly pals and Cuba does not have an extradition treaty with the United States. Nor is Cuba a signatory of the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. Which basically means that is was solely up to Cuba to do the right thing. Who ever thought that when Chase & Cole Hakken first went missing that this would turn into a modern day reverse Elián González story?

Yahoo News reports, The foreign ministry announced the decision in a terse statement saying Joshua Michael Hakken, a fugitive from U.S. justice, would be handed over with wife Sharyn and their children.

The family was located by a CNN reporter Tuesday when he ran into the father, Josh Hakken, Tuesday on a boat named Salty at a Havana marina. Cuban security asked CNN to leave the scene when the family was first spotted.

Foreign Ministry official Johana Tablada told The Associated Press in a written statement Tuesday that Cuba had informed U.S. authorities of the country’s decision to turn over Joshua Michael Hakken, his wife Sharyn and their two young boys. She did not say when the handover would occur.

Colt Competition Maker of AR-15 Style Rifles for Colt Relocates to Breckenridge, TX from Oregon

According to CBS DFWColt Competition, the manufacturer of high end AR-15 rifles for the iconic gun manufacturer Colt is moving its firearms production to Breckenridge, Texas from Canby, Oregon. Previously, Governor Rick Perry reportedly sent letters to gun companies, encouraging them to move to the gun friendly and  2nd Amendment supporting state of Texas. It appears that one might have taken him up on his offer. It makes one wonder whether this will become a trend. Why would anyone want to keep a business in a liberal state that believes they are evil? I have just one word to say to all gun manufacturers, ammunition manufacturers and any company that has anything to do with the making and maintenance of a fire arm that presently resides in a blue, liberal. anti-Second Amendment states … MOVE!!!

Visit Colt Competition.com

AR-15 style rifles for the iconic brand Colt, will open a plant in Breckenridge in Stephens County. Oregon company Bold Ideas confirmed the development Friday.

Bold Ideas goes by the name Colt Competition, making high accuracy rifles for competition shooting.

The company has not officially announced the opening, but employment applications are already available at the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce. A non-specific, help wanted ad appeared in the local newspaper classifieds earlier in the week.

Be very careful Connecticut, after passing your anti-Second Amendment gun legislation, COLT will hopefully be next to leave.

We Need an IQ Test for Politicians … Don’t Forget Back Ground Checks, How About Lie Detector Tests as Well?

Instapundit wants IQ Test for politicians … sounds like a good start; however, I say they take a lie detector test as well!!!

Glenn Harlan Reynolds, better known to the blogosphere as the Instapundit, writes in the NY Post  … I think that what we really need are IQ tests for political officeholders. Amen Brother! Reynold’s points to the recent incompetence and complete ignorance of the facts from Diana DeGette (D-CO), who supports a ban on full-capacity magazines without understanding what a magazine actually is. It appears that  Ed Driscoll has a perfect example of exactly what Glenn was talking about, courtesy of a tweet from Donna Brazile. I would go one further when it comes to politicians, well maybe two further. Instead of demanding their tax returns, I would rather they have an extensive background check like they wish to put perspective gun buyers through and how about a lie detector test as well!

While politicians talk about expanding background checks for gun owners, I’m starting to think that what we really need are IQ tests for political officeholders. The only problem is, that might leave us with a lot of vacancies in Congress and America’s statehouses.

The debacle over New York’s rushed-through gun bill is one example of what happens when enthusiasm meets stupid. But another is to be found in Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), who supports a ban on full-capacity magazines without understanding what a magazine actually is.

Last week, DeGette justified her position this way: “I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those now they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”   Um, ah . . . no. Completely wrong, in fact.

To make things simple enough that even a member of Congress can understand, it’s like this: Magazines aren’t “bullets.” They’re, basically, metal boxes with springs. You fill them up with bullets, and put them in a gun. When the gun fires the bullet on top, the spring pushes a new one up so that it can load into the chamber. When you fire all the bullets, you pop out the box-with-spring and replace it with another.

They should be made to take the American Civic Literary Test.
