DEMOCRAT & MEDIA DOUBLE STANDARD … Oops, Looks like Obama Treasury Secretary Nominee Jack Lew was Sheltering his Money in the Cayman Islands … But It’s Not Romney So That’s OK

Imagine that, only sheltering monies in the Cayman Islands is an issue for Democrats and the MSM when it comes to Republicans and Mitt Romney. Where is that class warfare rhetoric from Obama now?

Don’t look now but President Barack Obama’s Treasury Secretary nominee Jack Lew’s nomination may have hit a bit of a snag. It would appear that he has made investments in the Cayman Island to shelter money. Of course this is not an issue now for the Obama White House, Democrats and the liberal MSM. It was only an issue for former 2012 GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Of course it will make no difference to Obama, he is the one who previously had Turbo tax cheat Timothy Geitner of the Treasury Secretary. What’s a little Cayman Island sheltered money?

Republicans have been critical of Lew since his nomination was announced last month. Sens. Jeff Sessions and Orrin Hatch have questioned his role in Medicare policy decisions and his role at Citigroup.

“He’s got to still answer some questions or we may have to postpone the hearing,” Hatch told POLITICO on Thursday. “Right now, I’ve agreed to the hearing date but it is subject to having answers to the questions that were raised. They aren’t difficult to answer, they can answer them.”

Sources said Republicans have not given any indication that they plan to use the information to stall the upcoming hearing or to block the nomination completely.

Committee members will have the chance to question Lew directly at the hearing next week.

“[They] have every right to bring these issues up, that is why we have the committee hearing,” Neary said. “No one is being stopped from asking any questions at these hearings.”

But of course there is no double standard here. Barack Obama was highly critical of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney for similar investments in funds based in the Cayman Islands, but now has the nerve to nominate an individual who has done the same. How hypocritical could Obama be? Obama obsessed over offshore tax shelters, but nominated someone who has done the very same that Obama claims to be against. What a joke. The Obama White House actually had the nerve to defend Lew and his investment by stating that Lew paid all his taxes on all of his income. As an American Thinker states, the point  is not that Lew disclosed or paid taxes on his income, the issue at hand is the idea that it is evil to have an offshore account – at least it was for Mitt Romney. The specter of an offshore account raise the issue of hidden income and avoidance of taxes. That was the story when Obama slandered Romney, but some hoe it a different story when it comes to Jack Lew.

“President Obama has been almost obsessively critical of offshore investments. He called Ugland House ‘either the biggest building or the biggest tax scam on record,’” Grassley wrote in a statement late Friday.

“For years, we’ve talked about shutting down overseas tax havens that let companies set up operations to avoid paying taxes in America,” Obama said. He said his budget proposal would crack down on businesses which incorporate in places such as Ugland House.

Grassley said of the contrast between Obama’s statements and Lew’s past investment, “The irony is thick.

Snowmageddon Hits Northeast … Nemo Dumps Near Record Snow Amounts in Boston … More Than 3 Ft of Snow in CT … 650,000 Without Power .. Record Snowfall in Portland, ME … Sea Walls Threatened in NH

Yesterday Nemo blasted New York and New Jersey, overnight it set its force upon the Northeast.

NEMOGEDDON The massive snow storm with hurricane-force wind gusts and blizzard conditions has hit the Northeast overnight. Nemo has left more than 650,000 homes and businesses without power and has made many roads  impassable as New Englanders are waking up to two and three feet of snow and snow drifts up to six or even feet. Coastal areas are also dealing with potential flooding. There are travel bans in Connecticut Rhode Island and Boston, Massachusetts. Travel bans have also been called for on Long Island, NY.  Thousands of flights have been canceled between Logan International in Boston, MA, Bradley International in Hartford, CT, JFK International and LaGuardia in NY and Newark International in NJ. Some have wondered whether this storm could top Boston’s all-time single-storm snowfall record of 27.6 inches, set in 2003. I remember that one very well.

More than 38 inches of snow fell in Milford in central Connecticut, and an 82-mph wind gust was recorded in nearby Westport. Areas of southeastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire notched at least 2 feet – with more falling. Airlines scratched more than 5,300 flights through Saturday, and the three major airports serving New York City as well as Boston’s Logan Airport closed.

Flooding was also a concern along the coast, and the possibility led to the evacuation of two neighborhoods in Quincy, Mass., said Fire Deputy Gary Smith. But it did not appear to create major problems in New York and New Jersey, states hit hardest during last October’s Superstorm Sandy.

Near record snow falls hit Boston, MA and it’s still snowing.

As of 7 a.m., Boston’s official snow total was 21.8”. This would rank as the 6th highest snowstorm in Boston’s recorded history (well over 100 years). With an additional 3-6” possible Saturday morning we could very easily approach the all-time snowfall record of 27.5” set back in the President’s Day storm of 2003.

UPDATE I: 5 deaths blamed on powerful snow storm that drops 2 feet of snow in Northeast

A 74-year-old man in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., died after he was struck by a car on a snowy street. The driver, 18, said she lost control of the car due to the snow. One pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed Friday night in Prospect, Conn., state police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said. In southern Ontario, an 80-year-old woman collapsed while shoveling her driveway and two men were killed in car crashes.

UPDATE II: MAINE: Record snow fall for Portland, METhanks to Winter storm Nemo and that record snow fall in Maine, As ‘Bert and I’ famously stated in their Downeast story telling …  “You can’t get they-ah from hee-ah.”

Portland recorded a record snowfall for a single storm as snow and wind continued to batter the city and most of southern and central Maine.

The National Weather Service in Gray reports the city had received 29.3 inches of snow at the jetport by 8 a.m. The previous record of 27.1 inches was recorded in Portland on Jan. 17 and 19, 1979.

Other snow totals as of 8 a.m. include: 28 inches in south Windham; 23.5 inches in Lewiston; 26.1 inches in Gorham; and 26 inches in Kennebunk, according to the weather service.

“Right now we’re seeing significant snowfall occurring along the coast from Augusta down through the Portland area. This will continue for a couple hours before it starts to weaken and move east,” Chris Legro of the National Weather Service in Gray said shortly after 6 a.m.

Legro said 24.7 inches of snow had fallen in Kennebunk by 6 a.m. Portand had 12.3 inches by 12:30 a.m. Portland is experiencing wind gusts of around 50 mph and visibility of less than a quarter-mile.

UPDATE III: NEW HAMPSHIRE - Nemo pounds the Granite state and the seas are pounding the NH shoreline. The state of NH at 10:15 a.m. today closed Route 1A (Ocean Boulevard) from the Hampton town line to the Rye town line. A state of emergency has been declared in NH.

Downtown Portsmouth, NH looks quite different this morning than a usual Saturday morning.

UPDATE IV: CONNECTICUT - The state of Connecticut has been basically paralyzed by winter storm Nemo. Parts of the state have been fit with 2 feet of snow, others areas up to 3 feet. There have been two Storm-Related deaths reported; roads are closed across Connecticut as snowfall totals near 3 feet in some towns.

Connecticut residents woke to a world of white on Saturday after a blizzard dumped up to 3 feet of snow across southern New England, burying abandoned cars, stranding travelers and leaving roads impassable. Two storm-related deaths have been reported.

An 88-year-old woman who was using a snowblower in Prospect was struck by a car that didn’t stop, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said during an 11 a.m. press briefing.

And in Danbury, a 73-year-old man died Saturday morning after being found in his driveway, police said.

The governor said the travel ban he put in place at 5 a.m. will continue until further notice.

Hartford, CT has been completely shut down following Nemo. There has been a vehicle ban on all cars except for emergency vehicles.

UPDATE V:  U.S. Postal Service suspends mail delivery in New England due to blizzard … Post offices in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island will remain closed Saturday.

The Man Hunt Continues for Cop Killer Christopher Dorner … 3 Dead … Burned Out Vehicle Found Big Bear in the San Bernardino Mountains of California

The man hunt continues for 33 year old, ex-LA police officer Christopher Dorner continues. Dorner is the suspect in 3 murders. Dorner is said to be responsible for the murder of a 34 year-old Riverside Police officer. Dorner is also suspected in the murders of Monica Quan, 28, and her 27-year-old fiancé Keith Lawrence on February  3. Authorities confirm that a burned out truck matching the description of a getaway vehicle owned by triple-murder suspect Christopher Dorner was found at ‘Big Bear’ in the San Bernardino mountains Thursday. The community is in lock down as police conduct a door to door search going on for this suspected killer. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Christopher Jordan Dorner, 33, of La Palma, is said to be targeting police officers in a bid to avenge his firing from the Los Angeles Police Department in 2008 and, according to his manifesto, to clear his name.

He is wanted in the killings of Cal State Fullerton assistant basketball coach Monica Quan and her fiance, Keith Lawrence, in Irvine Sunday. Quan is the daughter of a police captain who represented Dorner in his departmental hearing that resulted in his firing from the LAPD.

Police say he then ambushed two Riverside officers, killing one, this morning.

Chris Riddle, vice president of marketing for Bear Mountain and Snow Summit Ski Resorts, announced Bear Mountain Ski Resort was closing due to the volatile situation surrounding the manhunt for suspect Christopher Dorner.

“Because the burning vehicle was found in the Bear Mountain parking lot, the San Bernardino County Sheriff has set up a command center there,” said Riddle.

“They are now doing a search of the area around where the vehicle was found.”

TIMELINE of Christopher Jordan Dorner, ex-LAPD officer wanted in double murder, cop shootings

Christopher Dorner Manifesto (Uncensored). The motive for the murders seem to be revenge for his being fired from his job and losing his carrier. After reading the ramblings of Christopher Dorner, there is no way the MSM is going to tag this cop killer as a right wing extremist or Tea Party member. If anything, he would appear to be a Lefty and an Obama fan.

There is no way this suspect will ever be taken alive. This will end in guns a blazing or this individual will commit suicide when he is cornered.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911, Robbery-Homicide Division at (213) 486-6860, or LAPD’s 24-hour tipline at (877)LAPD-247.

UNREAL … Defense Secretary Leon Panetta testified Obama Was ABSENT Night of Benghazi Massacre … Obama AWOL

Barack Obama: The Absentee Commander in Chief …

After all these months, we finally learn that President Barack Obama was no where to be found the night that the Consulate was attacked in Benghazi, Libya and four Americans were killed. Is it any wonder why Obama and his complicit MSM did not want to make this an issue prior to the 2012 Presidential elections. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta testified on Capitol Hill that President Barack Obama was absent the night four Americans were murdered, including US Ambassador Stevens, in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. They were left on their own.

Panetta said, though he did meet with Obama at a 5 o’clock prescheduled gathering, the president left operational details, including knowledge of what resources were available to help the Americans under siege, “up to us.”

In fact, Panetta says that the night of 9/11, he did not communicate with a single person at the White House. The attack resulted in the deaths of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.

Obama did not call or communicate in anyway with the defense secretary that night. There were no calls about what was going on in Benghazi. He never called to check-in.

The 5 o’clock meeting was a pre-scheduled 30-minute session, where, according to Panetta’s recollection, they spent about 20 minutes talking a lot about the American embassy that was surrounded in Egypt and the situation that was just unfolding in Benghazi.

Obama was absent as Americans were under assault in a massacre, yet he found time to make a phone call to save his political bacon to defuse a controversy about President Obama’s refusal to meet with Netanyahu two weeks later.

But Obama did have time to make a political call to the Israeli prime minister. “[W]e do know one thing the president found time to do that evening: He placed a call to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu in order to defuse a controversy about President Obama’s refusal to meet with Netanyahu two weeks later at the U.N. General Assembly, and, according to the White House announcement that evening, spent an hour on the phone with him,” Kristol wrote.

More from Rush Limbaugh. Barack Obama could hardly seem to be bothered with the massacre that was taking place. How aloof could one possibly be? A US Ambassador is under attack and missing and Obama could really care less. How would the MSM treat this story if a Republican had been president when a US Ambassador was murdered? Does anyone think that maybe they would have covered the story and asked the administration why they are trying to cover up what happened?

AYOTTE: Did he ask you how long it would take to deploy assets –

PANETTA: No.

AYOTTE: — including armed aviation to the area?

PANETTA: He — he basically said, “Do whatever. Do whatever you need to do to be able to protect, uhhh, our people there.” He just left that up to us.

AYOTTE: Did you have any further communications with him that night?

PANETTA: No.

RUSH: “No.” So Obama votes “present.” I guess this means they weren’t in the Situation Room. Obama voted “present.” He said, “Nah, you guys do whatever you need to do.” Well, why didn’t anybody do anything then? I mean, clearly, if the president says, “Do what you need to do to protect our people there,” and they weren’t protected, then why didn’t they do it? So up next we have Senator Ted Cruz. During the Q&A, Cruz and Panetta had this exchange..
