Mitt Romney Blasts Obama on Insulting Every Entrepreneur in America and Attacking Success … “I find it extraordinary that a philosophy of that nature by a President of the” United States.”
Return of the Jedi … It’s about time he has called Obama on his lies, mis-truths and head shaking centralized, socialist philosophy
Mitt Romney finally took the gloves off in Irwin, PA and blasted President Barack Obama for attacking the American spirit of entrepreneurship and success. Romney’s comments were in response to Obama’s moment of truth where for one of the few times during his presidency he let everyone know what he thought about individual’s success and the role of a large, in your face, all controlling government from birth to grave. Obama’s attack on entrepreneurs, small business and success will resonate through out the election. It will be known as the “Roanoke Incident” where Obama in a moment of weakness and truth gave us a glimpse into his soul. We may look back on the 2012 Presidential election and target this moment as the date that changed the race and the turning point for Mitt Romney and the salvation for America.
Barack Obama says, “If you’ve got a business … you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen” … Mitt Romney says, that this is not only foolishness, it is an insult to ever entrepreneur in America and under a Romney administration we will not have a president that embraces success, not attacks it.
“What the President said was both startling and revealing. I find it extraordinary that a philosophy of that nature
by a President of the” United States.”

“If you’ve got a business … you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen”

That does make for a good sound bite. It is pretty clear that the “That” in “you didn’t build that” refers to Roads, Internet, and other resources that your business utilizes, as well as the education that you received that helped you be what you are today. The intent is to express that “no man is an island” sort of thing.

If Mitt Romney’s Irwin speech and the current campaign ads are a sign of things to come in this campaign … then many Americans who have not fully comprehended will fully comprehend the far left ideology embraced by Barack Obama.
It still does not make sense to me why Obama’s Marxist “mentors” and associations from the past are not elections issues. ALL Americans deserve to know the truth prior to casting that precious ballot.

“If you’ve got a business … you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen”
For draft avoiding Mitt, someone else made that happen, someone else answered the call. 3 million Anmerican men did what was asked in Vietnam. 58,220 American soldiers killed, more than 150,000 had been wounded, and at least 21,000 permanently disabled. His dad did’t serve, his sons haven’t served. My daughter (an Army officer)
has more guts than the entire Romney clan!
[...] Mitt Romney blasted Obama following the insulting comments of every Entrepreneur in America and attacking success … “I find it extraordinary that a philosophy of that nature by a President of the United States.” [...]
Funny how Romney had the same idea himself when he said this:
“There are a lot of people in government who help us and allow us to have an economy that works and allow entrepreneurs and business leaders of various kinds to start businesses and create jobs. We all recognize that. That’s an important thing…. I know that you recognize that a lot of people help you in a business. Perhaps the banks, the investors. There’s no question your mom and dad. Your school teachers. The people that provide roads, the fire, and the police. A lot of people help.”
What’s the big issue in all of this anyway, seeing as both candidates think alike here?

As I said, they clearly seem to be saying the same thing, so what is the big issue?

SM: You really don’t understand the difference between, you didn’t build you business as you got some help, really? Spoken like a person who has never started a new business. I can pretty much guarantee you have never been the owner of a small or any business.

I guess my difference in understanding begins in my comprehension of that speech. I agree with Lippy above, that Obama was clearly taking about the roads, etc. when he used “that”.
For me, hearing and reading the “you didn’t build that” phrase in context of the adjacent remarks of the speech is unambiguous. I get the point of parsing the words very tightly, as has been done hundreds or thousands of times, to make a point. I simply can’t ignore the rest of the words to form my opinion of what the message is.
What is difficult for me is to understand what others take away from the larger comments. I’ve not seen anyone combine a literal interpretation of the “you didn’t build that” phrase with their explanation of what Obama said in those sentences that surround that brief quote.
I think it would be interesting to get that perspective, to better understand the effect of the speech.
