The Hill Poll: 56% of Likely Voters Believe Obama Has Changed America for the Worse During His First Term as President

Overwhelming majority think that Barack Obama has changed America for the worse … ya think? Hey America, how’s that “hopey, changey” stuff working out for ya?

More bad polling data for President Barack Obama. A new poll from The Hill conducted by the Pulse Opinion Research stated that 56% of likely voters believe that President Barack Obama has changed America for the worse during his first term in office as opposed to only 35% who think he has changed it for the better. 91% of Republicans polled think that Obama’s changes are bad for America, while an interesting low number of 71% of Democrats think Obama’s changes have been good and a striking 20% of Democrats polled say that Obama has changed America in a negative way.

Full polling results can be seen HERE with cross-tabs.

Two-thirds of likely voters say President Obama has kept his 2008 campaign promise to change America — but it’s changed for the worse, according to a sizable majority.

A new poll for The Hill found 56 percent of likely voters believe Obama’s first term has transformed the nation in a negative way, compared to 35 percent who believe the country has changed for the better under his leadership.

The results signal broad voter unease with the direction the nation has taken under Obama’s leadership and present a major challenge for the incumbent Democrat as he seeks reelection this fall.

This also follows the Rasmussen poll where a substantial percentage of Americans believe Obama’s policies are more extreme than Romney’s.

Who would have thought with an escalating national debt, 40+ weeks with an unemployment rate over 8%, record number of Americans on food stamps and continued poor job creation that Americans would think that Obama shift of America to socialism was a bad thing? But as stated at Jammie Wearing Fool, normally news like this would be a political death blow to an incumbent President, but not with an in the tank, suck up, bias and corrupt liberal media complex. A note to Team Elect Romney … WAKE THE HELL UP AND START TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THIS TERRIBLE POLLING.

Nice analysis at Q and O with a similar thought process that we have been stating for months. How can there be so much negative polling on specific issues and yet Obama be in the lead in the polls? At some point closer to election day, things are going to break one way or the other.

Since the “Lamestream” media had chosen to become a propaganda machine for the Obama and socialist/democrat machine, Romney will have to spend a lot of money on advertisements to overcome the propaganda.

SM is exactly right. Romney needs to really hit hard in regards to calling out the disfunctional Obama administration.

How can there be so much negative polling on specific issues and yet Obama be in the lead in the polls?
Try calling someone outside of Salt Lake City!
      Try calling cell phones.
Try and not ask loaded questions.
One of the main sources of error in interpreting poll results is poor question wording.
“All in all, would you rather have bigger government that provides more services or smaller government that provides fewer services?”

Approximately 35% said, “bigger government” providing more services”, 53% said “smaller government” with fewer services, and 12% were unsure.

First, it’s unclear what services respondents would prefer. Perhaps Delaware residents would prefer only military protection, social security, and Medicare services; likely the three largest increasing budgetary expenditures in the federal budget. Second, it’s unclear what is meant by “bigger” or “smaller” government. The question could be referring to spending, the number of agencies, red tape and bureaucracy, or the “out-reach” of government into the private sphere. In general, the question is ambiguous and should be rewritten to be more specific.
      that provides more services.”
Another question on the survey is “double-barreled.” It asks the following:
“Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: the federal government has gotten totally out of control and threatens our basic liberties unless we clear house and commit to drastic change.”
What? Let’s count how many assertions are in this one statement: 1) the government has gotten out of control, 2) the government threatens our basic liberties, 3) unless we clean house, and 4) commit to drastic change. These are really four separate questions that can be asked of respondents. To put them as a single assertion to agree or disagree with is problematic. I won’t even address the loaded language — “control and threaten” — in the question.

And, it’s not clear what aspects of government are out of control; is it the budget, the over-reach of government, not listening to the people, the wars, or what? I’d suggest simply dropping this item and returning to the drawing board.

While the percentage of male to female and Republican to Democrats appears to be balanced, it would be interesting to know what percent of those polled depend on the government for their livelyhood. This could be further divided by those who work and those who live off of government programs.

If Mitt Romney … on the campaign trail … would reveal the Barack Obama/Rev. Jeremiah Wright 20 year relationship … the liberal media would be forced to report Romney’s own words.

If Mitt Romney … on the campaign trail … were to expose the Marxist.racist/anti-Israel/Islamic appeasing doctrines of Black Theology … the doctrines of Black Theology that are furthered within the walls of Trinity United … Obama’s policies … Obama’s executive orders/privileges that bypass the democratic process would all make sense. In other words … many Americans who embrace freedom and democracy will not be deceived. They will get it!

However … akin to John McCain … Romney will not touch Obama’s relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Why?

Romney Condemns Ad Proposal Using Reverend Wright
      Published: May 17, 2012

Mitt Romney on Thursday condemned plans by Republican strategists and a billionaire investor to run a $10-million advertising campaign linking President Obama to the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, his incendiary former pastor.

“I repudiate that effort,” Mr. Romney told reporters at an impromptu news conference Thursday in Jacksonville, Fla. “I think it’s the wrong course for a PAC or a campaign.” ….

Authors of the 54-page proposal to Mr. Ricketts wrote that “with your preliminary approval at the New York meeting, we have discussed this plan in highly confidential terms with the following proposed team members.”

“All are ready to jump into action upon plan approval,” the proposal said.

      JOHN MCCAIN

Romney Condemns Ad Proposal Using Reverend Wright
      Published: May 17, 2012

The proposal to use Mr. Obama’s association with Mr. Wright quickly brought comparisons between Mr. Romney and Senator John McCain of Arizona, the Republican presidential nominee in 2008.

Mr. McCain spoke forcefully during that campaign in defense of Mr. Obama, saying on Fox News that Mr. Wright’s rhetoric “are statements that none of us would associate ourselves with.”

“I don’t believe that Senator Obama would support any of those as well,” he said.

On Thursday, Mr. McCain indicated that he would again forbid advisers from using material about Mr. Wright.

“Senator McCain is very proud of the campaign he ran in 2008,” said Brian Rogers, Mr. McCain’s spokesman. “He stands by the decisions he made during that race and would make them again today.”

Michelle Malkin to Mitt Romney: Stop Calling Barack Obama a “Nice Guy” If You Want to Get Elected

Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin is getting a lot of feedback for recent comments addressed to Mitt Romney, basically saying that if the presumptive GOP presidential nominee wants to win in November, he needs to stop calling President Obama a “nice guy.”

Romney’s repetitive use of the phrase to describe Obama may be reminiscent to some of Sen. John McCain’s own terminology for the then-senator, calling him “a decent person.” According to Malkin, if Romney plans to “sell himself to the American people beyond the Republican party, he needs to ‘de-program’ those words from his mouth.”

“It’s not just the Republican base that has come to realize that Barack Obama is far from a nice man,” she said. “There have been many targets of the Obama administration who don’t have Rs by their names.”

Rage rising on the McCain campaign trail
      October 10, 2008

At a rally in Minnesota on Friday, a woman told McCain: “I don’t trust Obama. I have read about him and he’s an Arab.”

McCain shook his head and said, “No ma’am, no ma’am. He’s a decent family man…[a] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues. That’s what this campaign is all about.”

One man at the rally said he was “scared of an Obama presidency.” McCain later told the man he should not fear Obama.

“I want to be president of the United States, and I don’t want Obama to be,” he said. “But I have to tell you, I have to tell you, he is a decent person, and a person that you do not have to be scared as President of the United States.”

McCain’s response was met with boos from the crowd.

Why the silence from Mitt Romney and the influential politicians on the conservative right regarding the Islamic threat to America as well as the appeasement this ideology by the Obama administration? It appears that FOX is the only major network … a voice in the wilderness … that is making a futile attempt to get the message out there.

I also agree that the polls really don’t mean much. Polls are misleading, just go out and talk to ordinary people. This means people that are not into politics and work or try to work to support their families. I personally know many Republicans and Democrats. They are all good people with differing opinions. The Republicans say they totally disagree with President Obama and will vote against him again. The Democrats say that they are very disappointed with President Obama. They probably will not be voting at all. By the way, everyone bases their opinion on the loss of jobs. This is what people will be voting about.
