The Lights Go Out in America & The Jobs to China … Democrats Block Repeal of Lightbulb Ban

America, ever wonder where the incandescent light bulbs and jobs went? Just ask Barack Obama and the Democrats who just sent them all to China. Vicki Lawrence is wondering as well. One thing we won’t  have to be worried about is being, “Blinded by the Light” as low wattage bulbs are on their way brought to you courtesy of dome dim witted watted politicians. The lights aren’t about to go out in Georgia, but jobs as well in the US.

Thomas Edison just turned over in his grave. On Tuesday, Democrats blocked the bill that would repeal part of a 2007 energy law requiring traditional incandescent light bulbs to be 30 percent more energy efficient beginning in 2012. What would we expect from a bunch of dim bulbs that think that it is the government’s business to tell Americans what type of bulbs they should be allowed and not allowed to buy? I thought Democrats were all about free choice? I guess that only pertains to abortion, not buying light bulbs.

The bill from Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) to repeal part of a 2007 energy law requiring traditional incandescent light bulbs to be 30 percent more energy efficient beginning in 2012 failed to get the necessary two-thirds support needed for approval under expedited rules. A majority of members — 233 — supported the repeal, including five Democrats. Ten Republicans joined 183 Democrats opposing the measure.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi personally whipped Democratic Caucus members to vote against the bill, a Democratic aide told POLITICO.

“I was concerned that Ms. Pelosi might make it a litmus test issue in her caucus, and she did,” Barton said after the vote. “We only got 5 Democrat votes. Everybody in the Blue Dog caucus and the Black caucus that voted no, voted against their constituents.

It is hard to believe that on January 1, 2012, the 100 watt incandescent bulbs will become illegal. It gets even worse … guess who makes the new light bulbs that your United States government is making you buy, hold, hold … the answer is CHINA!. In the midst of no jobs being created in the US, we are knowingly sending jobs to China in the name of what, light bulb over-legislation? Thank you Democrat party for sending good paying jobs to China. Unreal. You might want to remember this in 2012 at the polls.

Is it any shock that Democrats would vote against their constituents? Didn’t they do the same with Obamacare? These folks represent no one but their own radical interests.

The problem is that the jobs are going overseas. GE had many years to convert the factories over to more efficient bulbs but they chose to to build new factories in China because they are $.30/bulb cheaper to manufacture there.

Changing the law now wouldn’t change the fact the GE has already shuttered the factories that were going to close; that horse has left the gate.

We changed to florescent several years ago. It’s lower watts and not as hot. Also doesn’t hurt your eyes to look at. If need be…heck…I’ll burn candles :)

SM: Too bad the new bulbs they want us to go to contain mercury and will have everybody in need of glasses. You are correct, these tree huggers will not be happy until we are back to candles. Then they will say they give off too much carbon as well.

They may be illegal by the feds, but in Texas they will be manufactured and sold. Just let the feds try to enforce their rules.

I had always heard from way back that flourecent bulbs took more energy at startup due to the electric igniter having to light the gases. In other words if you nedd a bulb somewhere that stays on most of the time you would use a flourecent, one that goes on and off a lot you use an incandecent.

Thats how I use the modern flourecent bulbs along with incandescent bulbs in MY home, but I guess I don’t have that choice anymore.

Yes, that GE. The one that has the option to employ US workers and chooses not to. GE, and simular companies, is the problem.
