Will Anthony Weiner Survive Politically as Democrats Distance Themselves … Weiner Resignation Watch is On
From the beginning of the Weiner Tweet story, it was obvious what had occurred. Although Democrats remained silent and the liberal MSM did stories on hacking rather than ones that Weiner might be lying. In the end under the mounting evidence that Weiner did sent the explicit pics, Anthony Weiner admitted the pic was of himself and he sent it.
Anthony Weiner took the words to the Oscar Mayer Weiner jingle personally, literally. I guess he did wish he was an Oscar Mayer Weiner, because every one would be in love with him. Or so he thought. Oops, Congressman Weiner took this to the extreme.
Now that the cat is out of the bag and Weiner has admitted his wrong doings, well most of them … Democrats are distancing themselves and calls for resignation are abound. Democrats actually think they can win back the House in 2012, as delusional as that sounds. However, no such notion could ever even be possible when Weiner would be the face of the Democrat House. In other words, Democrats know Weiner must go.
Representative Anthony D. Weiner of New York, reeling from revelations of salacious online behavior that threaten his political career, moved rapidly on Tuesday to make amends as Republicans called for his resignation and leading members of his own Democratic Party distanced themselves from him.
Mr. Weiner spent much of the past 24 hours apologizing over and over to stunned Congressional colleagues and Democratic leaders angry at him for misleading them and the public. Even neighboring House Democrats seemed shaken, with many of them worrying that worse disclosures may still surface.
When the Democrat US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was asked about Weiner and what advice he would give, Harry told Weiner to call some one else. Ouch, that’s going to leave a mark.Q: You didn’t say whether you thought Congressman Weiner should resign.
Reid: I’m not here to defend Weiner.
Q: What do you think he should do?
Reid: That’s all I’m going to say.
Q: Senator Reid, what advice would you give him if he asked you?
Reid: Call somebody else.
The Weiner resignation watch is on. What is the over/under on Weiner’s resignation? Honestly, I cannot see how he survives the week. The pressure from the Democrat powers that be will not allow one Weiner’s actions to harm the party more than he already has. In the end this is about Congress, not about an individual. It would not shock anyone if he steps down later Friday or on the weekend when there is a slow news cycle.
As there is a poll of NY’ers who actually want Weiner to stay. That being said, Jammie Wearing Fool notices that Weinergate has ushered in a whole “Golden Age” of tabloid headlines. With a name that would already be the punchline of many jokes, Anthony Weiner managed to push the joke and double entendre headlines to a knew low by by less than responsible actions. For those who forgot all the tabloid headlines during the Bill Clinton scandals … Anthony Weiner has sadly reminded us by his actions.
Weiner’s days in Congress are numbered. It is not the GOP who is calling for him to resign, it’s Dems. When your own party does not support you, You are toast. Name the day Weiner will be gone.
