Obama: “I Want To Live In A Society That Is Fair” … Who Decides What is Fair & What’s Envy?

Barack Obama said the following at a town hall event in Virginia earlier in the week, “I want to live in a society that’s fair. “Not just out of charitable reasons, but because it improves my life.” Really, fairness improves his life and who is it that determines what is fair? To claim one is for fairness and then pander to those that Obama thinks are being treated in an unfair manner, is simple class warfare. Nothing less.

Great pic, Hat Tip: Left Coast Rebel

Fairness? What does it really mean to live in a society that is fair? Does it mean that when one works harder than another, they are not supposed to be rewarded? In Obama’s world that is the case. Obama believes in taking from those who are the earners and giving it to those that expect a hand out. In Obamaland, as Le·gal In·sur·rec·tion states, “The age of Obama is the age of envy and jealousy couched as fairness. ”

How bad is Obama’s policies and view when even the socialists get in it Europe? From the UK Telegraph comes, “Welfare handouts aren’t fair – and the public knows it”.

As we report today, Policy Exchange – supposedly the Prime Minister’s favourite ideas outlet – has done a brave and unusual thing. Rather than polling the public just on policy and voting intention, it has put a far more abstract moral issue before them. It instructed the pollsters at YouGov to find out precisely what the public thought the most powerful term of approbation in the political lexicon – “fair” – actually amounted to.

The quite unequivocal reply that was received (with breathtakingly enormous majorities in some forms) came as no surprise to this column. To most voters, fairness does not mean an equal distribution of resources and wealth, or even a redistribution of these things according to need. It means, as the report’s title – “Just Deserts” – implies, that people get what they deserve. And what is deserved, the respondents made clear, refers to that which is achieved by effort, talent or dedication to duty: in other words, earned on merit.

How is it possible that the Brits get it and we in American do not? Have we become that envious and lazy of a nation? Be very careful America as to what a pandering, class warfare, socialist, desperate President passes off as fairness. Those who take risks and make the money, and who also pay the majority of the taxes, are the ones who employ people. Fairness is not taking what is not yours, its what is rightfully yours based upon merit, not what is given to you because you did nothing to earn it. Yet another wake up call from the UK, a poll showing that an overwhelming majority believe that people should work for their unemployment benefits. What a novel concept. Actually be productive rather than a coach potato collecting benefits. Let’s add drug testing to the collection of welfare as well. If an individual has to pass a drug test to get a job, then they should as well to get tax payer benefits.

Thank you SM for exposing this socialist myth of fairness.

The last two sentences in the piece should become the mandatory requirement for welfare of any type.

We cannot have a society that embraces drugs or the progressive/socialist concept of fairness.

The Brits appear to be several years ahead of us in recognizing the progressive/socialist agenda of “fairness”.

Obama’s idea of what is fair is I will decide what is fair.

Thank you SM for presenting this piece. Your last two sentences certainly are important to clearing this mess we have happening in our country.

I want to live in a “fair” society too. Agree with the drug test for welfare recipients. I have to pee in a cup to stay employed and get paid. why don’t they have to do either (pee in a cup OR work)? It’s UNfair! then again…I’m an evil contributor to society who saves money and owns something my husband and I have worked for. Lord have mercy how evil I must be to want fairness for myself ;>)

FAIR SOCIETY ?? obama couldn’t define fair if it kicked him in the butt with both feet.
i guess fair to him means that we work to feed the drug and government handout habits to those who choose not to work and pay taxes. i’m sorry but this does not sound too fair to me. fair would be for him to step down so we vote in a capable president. now that shouldn’t be hard for him to understand “fair” !

Sorry for the multiple posts. Most of the time I am unable to get a post thru so I kept trying on this article. Hope this makes it.

Ahhhh, “Fairness” is usually decided by an impartial observer.
I think Barry is partial (in so many ways). In his case ‘Fair’ would
be defined as any redistribution of the Peoples Money
that serves to insure Invincibility for Barry and the Bunch.

As society that’s “fair” wouldn’t require 47% of the country to support 53% of the country. “Fair” would require ALL Americans to pay towards government since all Americans use government.

“Fair” would not hand out my money to those on drugs, too lazy to work or simply not willing to produce.

“Fair” would require US elected Representatives to actually “represent” those that gave them the job.

“Fair” would not allow those who produce nothing to vote since most of voting has to do with how to spend the nation’s resources.

“Fair” would not allow a man who refuses to show his birth certificate be president since the US Constitution has requirements concerning birth.

The Republicans don’t even have a candidate yet, and yet 70% of America dislikes the direction Obama is taking the country. So, Obama could loose the election, without even having a Republican opponent … which means that a Republican could possibly win, because voters would be voting against Obama. This would be poetic justice, for Obama’s campaign cry was vote for me, I’m not George Bush !!!

We all want to live in a fair society. I know a man who lives on SSDI, medical, food stamps, and section 8 housing. He has never paid into social security. He is disabled due to an “anxiety disorder”. It makes him anxious to think about working, he is physically capable. He inherited $600,000 and legally funneled it into a “special interest” trust fund. So he continued to collect full benefits with over a half million in the bank. He makes more in benefits than I do working full time. Is this fair?

#10: you should check into the bread winner syndrome that now plagues us now. minorities and illegals have perfected this to a t.
don’t get me wrong, white people do it too while at a lesser volume.
you have an unwed mother of eight. she and her mom, grandmother of all eight plan together to go to CPS and declare her an unfit mother unable to care for these children.
the chilkdren will have to be moved to foster homes so tha grandmother offers to take these kids to raise at the cost to the taxpayer of $1500.00 per child. of cvourse, the children nev er receive a dime of this money because it gores to the mother, grandmothert, and the fathers of these kids. this information was sent to me by a doctor who had a patient who bragged about this practice and is evidently commonplace. they caqll themselves The Bread Winner of the family and never work a day in their lives.$1200 x 8 = $12,000.00 a month of our tax money.

Dave, Wassn’t your son unemployed (I do hope he has gotten a job by now)?
The vast majority just wants to go back to work and really needs the welfare just to get by

I am sick and tired of all the negative comments. Has anyone ever heard of welfare for the rich? Well, consider that every time the ocean sucks in a home, or some other disaster occurs, FEMA steps in. Who knows how many tax loopholes the rich take advantage of? How did they get rich in the first place? Probably off the backs of the poor, or cheating, and beating. Yeah, maybe 1% worked and made it, but most cheated you, and the government to get there. These same hoodlums put out all of this propaganda like those on welfare are living exotic lifestyles. I have never been on welfare, just an average middle class person. I have seen, and know people from both sides. I can tell you that the haves should be ashamed of themselves. What is it about money that the more you have, the sicker you become?
      ______________
SM: I am sorry to see that you have bought into class warfare. I would dare say that 95% of small business owners who bust their butt every day and employ people hardly cheat their way to wealth. Ever owned a business? I did not think so.
