GOP House to Introduce Bill to Eliminate President Barack Obama’s Czars
All the President’s Czar’s … maybe not any longer.
House Republicans of the new 112th Congress introduced a bill yesterday that would eliminate Barack Obama’s 39 czars. What a novel concept that “a head of any task force, council, policy office within the Executive Office of the President” would have to require Senate confirmation. That goes for any party in office. As stated at Weasel Zippers, elections have consequences.
From The Hill:
A group of House Republicans introduced a bill on Wednesday to rein in the various “czars” in the Obama administration.
Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) and 28 other House Republicans introduced legislation to do away with the informal, paid advisers President Obama has employed over the past two years.
The legislation, which was introduced in the last Congress but was not allowed to advance under Democratic control, would do away with the 39 czars Obama has employed during his administration.
The bill defines a czar as “a head of any task force, council, policy office within the Executive Office of the President, or similar office established by or at the direction of the President” who is appointed to a position that would otherwise require Senate confirmation.

Outstanding.
Remember in all this the Czar title is not a real title; its a shorthand for “unconfirmed adviser”. Why the term “Czar” was used instead of something a little less sinister I have no idea. The term dates back to the 1940′s though until GW the term term was rarely applied.
Its about time. Obama has 33 Czars that would be affected (6 so-called-Czars are actually senate confirmed and therefore not Czars). In comparison to Bush’s 27 Czar-position this doesn’t seem like a run-away problem, but since the 40′s the average seems be 2 or perhaps 3.
How come Republicans didn’t care about this when Bush had 32 czars in his administration?

Waste of time.
The Federal Government is totally out of control.
Anything the congress can do to reign in themselves or the executive branch is a step in the right direction.
Waste of money. A shadow government. No checks and balances leads to corruption.

A nice, balanced overview of the situation.

Umm – bias (instead of principle)?
Czars are created these days to ‘endrun’/circumvent
the Congressional mandate. The Constitution can
be ignored when these Czars are not accountable
to Congress or the Procedure of Law. Best to abolish
all of them and get our true legislators back on the
job and responsible.
Who thought we’d be able to celebrate this only 2 years after the coronation of Barack Hussein Obama? Most of those who were duped into voting for the Marxist Trojan Hope & Change Horse – soon recognized Obama’s agenda was wholly incompatible with the values and priorities of most Americans who vote. And that we’d fight to fix it. And we did.
But now we have just the beginning of a new thriller. Obama’s recent cabinet shifts should give America an indication of which way things are going. White House Press Secretary Gibbs mainly evacuated his post to go work on Obama’s campaign for re-election with Plouffe. His voice will be much more effective there, says he.
Now Obama shifts from pushing laws to pushing for re-election. Entirely different Washington Movie about to unfold.
More Popcorn, please.
Instead of a Diet Pepsi, could I get some Tea with that?
Whats the next hope and change? Obummers private pooolice going door to door draggiing people out of there houses who dont agree his politics?

Is that the best fear tactic you can think of; sounds pretty lame.
