Weird is a very kind term for politics here in Chicago. Mayor Daley’s wife is battling cancer, while Mayor Daley’s had more than his share of battles running the city, including losing the Olympic bid (with the help of the two big “O’s”, Obama and Oprah). Emmanuel had expressed interest in the job “only if Daley retires”. Don’t know if he’s still interested. Could get interesting for political reporters and pundits. It’s truly the end of a Daley dynasty (the Mayor and his father), but whether or not it will end the one-party (Democratic) hold on the City remains to be seen.
