I wonder how he likes the sex in prison.
EdH I dont think it’s nearly as exciting for him as it was attacking small helpless women. I wonder what event in his life kick-started his gross disrespect for women.
Katerina your question is answered by looking at his father. He was being used by his father to shill for him to get young girls. We can only guess how many girls were abused or sold in the sex trade.
Aruba is a beautiful island but evil lurks there for all who are not wary.
32; it was his mama. i think she taunted him
and he was repulsed by her. therefore, he took
it out on other womwn.
In my opinion, his mother is the cause for everything evil he has ever done. I know it is a cliche that mothers cause all evil in the world but just listen to his mother for five minutes and you can see that she is very controlling and extremely interested in how things look to other people. For all the defending of this monster that she does in public you can just bet that in private she was controlling and manipulative. In my opinion, she only cares about appearances. Innately children want to please their parents, this monster has so much anger in him it had to come from somewhere close and the parents are the first ones you look to when there is this much anger in a child. Interesting stuff about his father, and where we all believed at first that the father was controlling and abusive to the mother, after listening to Anita since Stefany’s death, it is starting to look to me like the household was run by Anita. Thus the hatred for women by both Joran and his father. It could explain it I think.
It’s easy to blame every one else but in my opinion, Joran is responsible for everything that happened.
I don’t believe that children are born sociopaths. I taught elementary school for many years and the relationship between a boy and his mother is extremely important to a boy’s view of life and especially women. The father’s attitude toward women is extremely important also. Every boy I taught, whose mother was neglectful, abusive, or had deserted the family, had extreme emotional problems. There were no exceptions to that. If I met a boy on the first day of school who was being raised by his grandparents I knew to watch carefully for problems and they were always there. The school guidance counselor and I became the best of friends from working with these very angry boys. The problems manifested themselves in different ways but there was always anger. Girls didn’t seem to have the same anger. It is something about boys and being rejected by their mothers. I’m not blaming anyone else for what Joran did, I’m just wondering what made him the way he is.
If Joran is not “mentally ill” then something must trigger this killer rage that is in him.
CVC I agree with you whole heartedly
I’ll bet that Anita was very controlling and when he didn’t behave she put him down. (Inferiority complex). When he acted out, she felt bad about the way she treated him and caved in to his wishes (confusion about consequences) (rewarding negative behavior)( learned manipulation).
Paulus was gone a lot and Joran adored him so you have that good parent, bad parent thing going on (devaluation of the female).
Then if Anita sugar coated it when Paulus came home “Oh everything was great, Joran was fine” and he rewarded him and doted on him, feeling guilty for being away, adding a (superiority complex) and (sense of entitlement).
Totally dysfunctional and confusing for a child. It doesn’t take much to screw up a child but it’s the consistency that causes the crisis so if this was an ongoing thing it is all he knew and very confusing.
This doesn’t make him mentally ill it just makes him illogical to associations of cause and effect. he said himself that he was implusive and didn’t think of consequences.
Rage Triggers = Like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder = Not getting his way or feeling inferior with a young female whom he devalues would start the cycle of bad behavior, manipulation and yes even murder if that’s what it takes!
He seems to have to have his way and rage comes easy when he doesn’t get it. Remember how he threw a glass of wine on Peter DeVeris because he didn’t get his way in the interview Or how he beat his chest and asked Beth what she wanted from him that first night they questioned him about Natalee.
It doesn’t take much to trigger. His fuse is short.
And yes it is Anita and Paulus’ fault for not taking corrective action on their behavior as parents and secondly for not straightening his little arse out before it was too late.
#10- Lisa in MD. Excellent. You most assuredly have a Psychology background of some kind, perhaps?
You are on point. The Evil Little Sporter has most unfortunately sealed his own fate. (Death in prison or death shortly thereafter.)
What I wonder is if he has the courage to actually ever commit suicide. Doubt it (True Narcissist and Sociopath.) Yes, agree- both Anita (Sucks as a Mother) and Paulus (even worse as a Father; horrible, corrupt Scumbag serving as a Judge?, Please!) both of the VDS’s failed Joran early on.
My heart still goes out to the true victims and their families. Beth and Dave Holloway, Jug Twitty, and the entire Holloway family have been nothing but the supreme example of grace and class during the most inconceivable of Murder cases to become headline news in years.
The sad irony of it all is that all this poor family wants is closure and to find the remains of our dear Natalee. The way that Joran VDS has extorted them and literally tortured them over 5 years is totally egregious and just damn rotten to the core. As if Beth and Dave Holloway haven’t suffered enough. While I realize it’s not very Christian-like for me to say this- I will take great joy in knowing the day Joran draws his last breath. I take great joy currently when I see the picture of the hole in the ground he has to use as a toilet. He is worse than it’s contents therein.
* Justice for Natalee Ann Holloway *
* Justice for Stephany Flores *
*Boycott that stinking hell hole that is Aruba…one effed up place, never mind happy!*
P.S. There was more to Paulus and his cronies than just one missing American teenager. To be sure. We have known this all along. Human Sex Trade/Trafficking/GHB Drug and raping young girls on that Island for the pleasure of a group of dirty old Men. Disgusting!
Kalpoe Brothers- you little wussy Rapists! Your life has never been the same either, has it? Wonder how much they were paid to shut their big traps. Deepak will rape again. He is angry and despises females in general. Go back to any of his interviews or the vile venom he spewed to the media. The car washing, the driveway of Kalpoes hid many secrets and forensic evidence. When you read the facts of the corrupt investigation, and gather all evidence…it is actually beyond shocking. Shocking! And what does Queen Beatrice have to say about it all? Oddly, not a thing. Not a word. So, pardon me dear Queen – but the Dutch Antilles and Netherland sucks, too. They should also be put on a permanent list of place where Americans should never travel to or spend their tourist/vacation dollars.
Beth, Dave, and the rest of the Holloway family are definitely an example of excellent parenting: loving and nurturing, I’m sure consistent and fair. Stefany’s parents display the same qualities as the Holloways. Parents everywhere can learn so much from them as both families stand with grace and dignity while living every parent’s worst nightmare.
Ah, but then you have the van der Sloots who, with every breath they take, cause nightmarish pain and devastation and they don’t really care at all. I know that there are no “perfect” parents. However, the ones who think they are perfect parents and who think their “delicious little sporters” are perfect humans are doing the world a great injustice. They are turning monsters loose on the world for others to deal with. I know because I taught them and had to listen to their parents tell me how perfect their little sporters were. I think the difference in some of the children I taught (who, as adults are still having trouble living in the world with the rest of us) is that Joran’s dyfunctional family experience played out on the island of Aruba. With no moral compass at home, he didn’t even live under the same roof as his parents. And no moral compass in the community,(remember, it takes a village to raise a child) the Aruban police and politicians are rumored to be involved in sex trade, casinos, strip clubs, drugs, etc. I honestly think geography had a tremendous amount to do with how he turned out. Not only did his parents move him to the portal of hell, they gave him a key to the city. He was able to visit the casinos and bars whenever he felt like it, sneaking in and out of his “apartment” which in Aruban apparently translates to “drug and rape shack.”
I bet I spent most of my own children’s childhood saying to them, “Hate me now, thank me later.” I was not a perfect parent and my children are not perfect humans, but I was right. They are thanking me now for doing the hard work of a parent when they were children.
Hey Anita, you have two more chances. For the sake of your two youngest sons and the freaking world get off your fat a**, start wearing clothes that cover your horrible b**bs, stop being a pal with your kids and their friends, and put a padlock on the rape and drug shack door. Also Anita, it wouldn’t hurt your two youngest sons to see you make an attempt to save your currently worthless soul by giving the Holloway family some peace and closure in regard to what truthfully happened to Natalee. Both Natalee and Stefany were beautiful, wonderful, intelligent, loving, and imperfect children. Just think Anita, if you get to work now you may one day have a child just like Natalee and Stefany.
Does it totally freak anyone else out when Anita is doing an interview and she is quoting something that “Jor-AHN” has said to her and she says “Jor-AHN said, ‘Mommy,- I- know- I- should- not- have- left- her- on- the- beach-…’” and she talks in baby talk when she quotes him. She talks very slowly and in a baby, sing-song way when she is quoting him. It sends chills up and down my spine and it reminds me of that movie “Psycho”. Remember when she was quoting him on the Dateline show last week. She was quoting him from the telephone call when he was running to Chili and she said something like “And Jor-AHN said, ‘Oh-no-it’s-not-Stefany…’” and she did the baby talk again. It is just my opinion, but it gives me the creeps, especially the “Mommy” thing.
Hi NGBOSTON – No psychological background just 3 children. I actually came from a severely dysfunctional family / broken home and swore that I would NEVER raise my three children that way. As they were growing up they called me the meanest mom in the world. Said my favorite word was, “No” I always told them they would grow up to thank me for it and they did!
I don’t believe it takes a village to raise a child – It takes an attentive parent who is logical, firm, understanding and lovingly consistent. People without those qualities should not attempt raising children until they learn them.
I don’t believe that being a controlling parent is a bad thing; the parent should be in control.
I do think the worst damage you can do to a child’s mind is to berate them as part of a punishment or manipulation. The power of the spoken word in anger towards a child has a heavier impact than one might think, Stick and Stones can break your bones but words can and will break your mind!
CVC you know that “Mommy” thing occurred to me at the time but, I was so disgusted with her insidious tone and feigned sympathy for the Holloways that it flew by me. Do you remember how arrogantly she said, “Maybe he should have been an actor and he might have missed his calling”. She is extremely manipulative. Yes, indeed that is very creepy!
It’s sort of like if you are talking to someone and not only you don’t believe what you are saying but, you know they don’t believe what you are saying. Where I come from we call that talking out your ars or a blatant lie!
I wonder what “Eyes for Lies” has to say on that Baby talk stuff. Do you suppose they really talk like that to each other??? Don’t you think that is a demoralizing thing to do? I was by no means a perfect parent but, now that I think about it I never even spoke baby talk to my babies, I just spoke to them.
You see here it comes into play exactly what I was saying about her before. Being Manipulative and Demoralizing. She’s ONE SICK MOTHER!
Lisa, what you say about the damage that can be done to a child’s mind is so true. A child’s mind, and especially a young boy’s ego, is such a fragile thing. I don’t think that mothers of boys sometimes realize how important their relationship with their son is as far as his later view on women, and life in general. I would see boys in my classroom every year whose mothers would berate them for bad grades or for misbehavior. As a teacher you learn very quickly to work with that child one-on-one and to not depend on the parent for fear of making a bad situation worse.
I could not believe how she so flippantly
shrugged off Joran’s torturing of the Holloway family as “He should have been an actor…” either. That totally floored me too.
I was shocked beyond belief when that first picture of Paulus, Joran, and Anita was released to the media in 2005, the one where you could completely see through her blouse. Can you imagine posing for a picture with your teenage son in a see-through blouse? Creepy!
Then the “delicious little sporter” comment seemed to me to have some strange undertones too.
On the forum Klaas has a caricature of Anita and Paulus and Anita is HUGE, towering over this tiny, sweating, shaking Paulus. I think that caricature accurately depicts the relationship. Many times children with a domineering parent will draw their family with the dominating mother, father, or sibling very, very large and the rest of the family very small. I think Paulus was clearly in fear of Anita instead of the other way around.
Did I read somewhere that Paulus had an illegitimate son from an affair? If he was possibly involved in the sex trade and other such things, including an affair, sounds like Paulus was seeking his gratification somewhere other than home. Sounds like a great place to acquire a demeaning view of women to me. IMO
It is called an Oedipus Complex.
Look it up under mental disorders.
The opposite is called an Electra Complex.
Absolutely, the relationship between a father and mother has the largest impact on a child and especially a male child because children learn what the live. Paulus is just as much to blame for his philandering and his ill fated contribution to covering up the crime. However, there are many more angles to this mess…As Fredric posted “Joran is responsible for everything that happened.”
In his Dutch television interview he admitted the scam “I wanted to get back at Natalee’s family – her parents have been making my life tough for five years,” The undeniable faux sense of entitlement, the relentless pursuit for revenge towards the Victim’s families, lack of compassion, total disregard of consequences. There is something broken deeper in his phycy to elicit that kind of drive.
The out of control, disproportionate rage he showed in Stephany’s murder for simply reading an e-mail and the begal and coffee breakfast thereafter. That goes beyond the label sociopath.
The son from an illegitimate affairs was rumored to be Lorenzo: However this has really never been verified.
I’m sure Anita knows at least half of if not more of what happened to Natalee.
Joran had to confess it to his moma to get approval for getting rid of a young blond female tourist that tried to sexually assualt him. NOT
Is it true that the youngest van der Sloot son told a classmate back in 2005 that he (Sebastian) saw a dead woman in their bathtub? I assume that was the apartment bathtub?
Lisa–Before this is all over I have a feeling that the psychology textbooks will be rewritten because I think as the experts delve deeper into the van der Sloots they are going to find stuff that no one has ever even imagined. That is one creepy family. IMO
My husband just called me from Boston to tell me he heard Beth was arrested??? What’s going on he said to go to nancy grace.
On the Greta wire they are saying that beth was not arrested, she was just detained for a few minutes and released when the guards at the prison realized she had a hidden camera. Apparently beth and peter de vries were there to talk to Joran. I’m not sure what the whole point was in going to see Joran. They said that beth also met with Stefany’s brother in Lima.
Nancy Grace has a tendency to be over the top with the dramatic. She should know better.
Yes, Fredric, I am not to keen on Nancy Grace either she is a sensationalist. And as usual the story isn’t entirely on the up and up! I was just in shock when my husband called because beth going to Peru was so unexpected.
No Sleep for the weary – I’ll bet Joran is just burning over this!
I just bet Joran’s jaw hit the floor when he saw that Beth Holloway was there to see him. I bet he was shocked when he saw Peter de Vries too. Maybe Beth and Peter can tell us all what Joran’s conditions are really like in Castro Castro. So far it has sounded like a country club. In my opinion the Peruvians need to buckle down harder on the little sporter. I’m still worried that these judges are taking way too long deciding this confession issue. It has been another entire week.
My guess is that Peru is not in any hurry to do anything. They will let the system proceed.
Joran’s trial will be in a year or two. That assumes his lawyer doesn’t slow down the process. If he does, it might take a lot longer.
But Peru actually has Joran where they want him. Let’s slow the process down as much as possible. Maybe in 35 years, his trial will begin.
Joran wants to be turned out to the GP? Give it to him. He hasn’t seen what that is like. He will be sleeping on dirt and eating from maggot infested food. Plus he is likely to contract all sorts of diseases. That assumes he is able to live out the first several minutes.
Frederic, do you think it is possible that Beth has heard, maybe from Stefany’s family, that Joran is about to be released? Could that have been the reason that Beth went to Lima, fearing that he will be killed or make it to the Netherlands? Maybe Peru is going to put him into GP and she is afraid he will be killed there. She just looks so much more distraught than she has in the last year or two. Those pics of her in Peru worry me.
I doubt seriously that Peru would release Joran. Why would they? But if they did it would be to US authorities.
I don’t think he will ever see the Netherlands or Aruba again.
Beth is a strong woman. She will be OK.
