Are you serious,60,000 babies of noncitizens, get U.S. birthright in the state of Texas alone. This is hardly what the intent of the 14th Amendment was supposed to do. What a disgrace and slap in the face to the 14th Amendment. An Amendment adopted in 1868 as a way to block state laws that prevented former slaves from becoming citizens and over turn the Dred Scott decision. Why do we continue to benefit those who break the law and spit in the face of the 14th Amendment.

As Republican members of Congress press for changes to the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, preventing automatic citizenship for babies born to illegal immigrants, opponents insist the debate is not really about babies.

Instead, they say it is about politics and votes – not fixing the immigration system.

Still, the debate could resonate in Texas, where not only 1.5 million illegal immigrants are estimated to reside but at least 60,000 babies are added to their households annually.

State Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler stated the following regarding the 14th Amendment and it was not meant to be applied to foreigners.

SC Mom Amanda Raegan Smith Gets 8 Years for Murdering her Son Devon Epps with Alford Plea

Eight years and time served for killing your own child … are you friggin kidding?

What the hell is up with South Carolina these days? Have DA’s heard that there should be time attached to the crime? File the following under the WTF category. I am not sure which is more criminal, the murder by Amanda Smith or the acceptance of the Alford plea and the pathetic sentencing. In the end, Amanda Smith basically got a away with murder and a slap on the wrist.

Devon Epps

In November 2007 Devon Epps was murdered. His mother Amanda Raegan Smith claimed that a knife weilding carjacker got into the car and smothered her son. Of course the story sounded like complete BS at the time as why would the carjacker have killed the child and not the mom as well. Scared Monkeys reported the story at the time as follows:

The events of Devon Epps, if one is to believe them as described by Devon’s mother Amanda Reagan Smith as to what she told investigators:

• Amanda and Devon Epps were stopped at Jacobs Road and Interstate 85 that Sunday night when a scruffy-looking white man carrying a knife ordered the mother from her car.
• Investigators said the woman told them the man forced the woman’s son into the back seat of the car and ordered the woman to drive around.
• Amanda was able to get out of the car but when she did, the suspect locked the doors and that’s when he got into the back of the car
• The man locked himself in the car with Devon. Then  he smothered the boy, holding a pillow over the child’s face.
• Devon Epps was taken to a hospital, where he was declared deceased. Amanda Reagan Smith was injured as well.
• She was treated and released from the hospital that night.
• The woman had non-life threatening injuries, deputies said.

Does this sound believable or like the many similar cases where a family members entire family is murdered yet they survive virtually unscathed? The story certainly sounds suspect.

The story did turn out to be utter rubbish and Amanda Raegan Smith was arrested and charged in the death of her 7 year old son Devon Epps. Almost 3 years later,Amanda Raegan Smith entered an Alford plea  and the judge found her guilty of both involuntary manslaughter and obstruction of justice. Amanda Smith will serve as many years in prison for the murder of her son as Devon lived on this earth. Greenville, SC … is that justice?

Welcome to the Obama Economy … Consumer Confidence Hits Lowest Level of Year

As Obama spins that the economy is headed in the right direction, “We the People” know better as consumer confidence hits its lowest level, according to the most recent Rasmussen poll. Wait, it is about to get worse, The Federal Reserve is set to downgrade its assessment of US economic prospects.

The Rasmussen Consumer Index, which measures the economic confidence of consumers on a daily basis, fell to its lowest level since December 3, 2009 on Sunday. At 70.0, consumer confidence is down four points from yesterday and down nine points from its level a week ago. The index is also down six points over the past month.

After over a week of steady gains, the Rasmussen Investor Index, which measures the economic confidence of investors on a daily basis, dropped seven points today to 77.5. The index has now fallen 20 points over the course of the past three days. Confidence is down 10 points over the past week and down six points from a month ago. The index is currently just a point shy of the lowest level recorded this year.

Only 8% of adults nationwide rate that the U.S. economy as good or excellent, while 58% rate it as poor. About a quarter (24%) of Americans feel economic conditions in the country are getting better, but 54% think they’re getting worse.

Obama’s economic policies are an abysmal failure and the people know it. This should go over well for Democrats heading into the November midterm elections.

Obama not resting until Americans are back to work …

Once again as Americans wonder were and when there next job will come from, when the unemployment rate will be lower than 9.5% and when the jobless Obama recovery will ever come to fruition … President Barack Hussein Obama is once again screwing off, this time playing hoops with Lebron James, Derrick Rose, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell and UCONN’s Maya Moore.

Hmm, he hooped it up with the NBA stares and one college hoopette star as a function for the “wounded warriors’? Why do I get the feeling that this was really a perk for Obama with the “wounded warriors” added in?

Of course what is a weekend without a game of golf for Barack Obama. Please do not say he played gold because it was his birthday. What were the other 100 excuses for the golf outings?

The event was part of the president’s birthday weekend at the White House. He played a round of golf Saturday at Andrews Air Force Base and a barbecue is scheduled on the south lawn of the White House for Sunday afternoon.

Talk about out of touch Teacher’s union in a limp economy … nothing like having your priorities in place.

Guess what the Milwaukee, WI Teacher’s union finds important in a down turn economy … VIAGRA. That is correct, as people are losing their jobs, experiencing layoffs and states and local municipalities need to make touch decisions, the teachers union wants Viagra covered. I guess the teachers unions do not realize the economy has erectile dysfunction. Who on earth fights for Viagra when teachers are losing their jobs?

With the district in a financial crisis and hundreds of its members facing layoffs, the Milwaukee teachers union is taking a peculiar stand: fighting to get its taxpayer-funded Viagra back.

The union has asked a judge to order the school board to again include Pfizer Inc.’s erectile dysfunction drug and similar pills in its health insurance plans.
