Tennessee Governor Election 2010: Republican Bill Haslam Up Big Over Democrat Mike McWherter 56% to 31%
Tennessee Governors race … will be a GOP gubernatorial pickup come the November 2010 midterm elections.
Following his recent Republican primary win in the Volunteer state, Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam finds himself with a commanding lead in the most recent Rasmussen poll for governor of Tennessee. Haslam leads Democrat Mike McWherter 56% to 31%.OUCH! What is most telling about the political atmosphere in Tennessee is that Haslam and McWherter are battling to see who will succeed popular outgoing, term limited Democratic Governor Phil Bredesen. Barack Obama on the ballot in TN in 2010.
Even though Bredesen is popular the GOP candidate Haslam has a 25% point lead in the polls. Why is this possible, easy … Tennessee is strongly against Obama and his policies. 59% fo Tennessee voters oppose the new health care bill’s requirement that every American buy or obtain health insurance, 51% in the state favor Tennessee suing the federal government to prevent the requirement from remaining in the law and 59% believe the tax cuts that were implemented under the Bush administration should be extended.

Sylar Newton
Skeletal remains found Tuesday near a central Arizona campground are believed to be that of a toddler reported missing in the area more than two weeks ago, and authorities say foul play is suspected.
The remains were found at the bottom of a wash less than 2 miles from the Beaver Creek Campground, where 2-year-old Sylar Newton of Flagstaff was last seen the night of July 24, Yavapai County sheriff’s spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn said.
Authorities said it appeared someone tried to hide the remains, which ended up in the wash after recent flash flooding.
There have been no suspected named; however, there is a criminal investigation under way. 2 year old Sylar Newton was reported missing when camping with his custodial mother, Christina Priem, and her family.
Sylar was at the camp site with his custodial mother, Christine Priem of Flagstaff. According to the police report, Priem, her mother Nancy Collins, 57, and Christina’s 12-year-old daughter were sleeping in the same tent as the boy at the time of his disappearance in the middle of the night. In an adjacent tent were Christina’s 14-year old son and a 14-year-old friend.

“HOPA & Change: Real or Fake … Jenny Quits her Job … This is Hysterical
Here’s some “HOPA & Change” you can believe in … or not?
We are unsure whether the following story of Jenny quitting her job is true or a spoof. In any event it is damn funny and a great use of office ”white board” to communicate her message. Hell hath no fury like a “HOPA” scorned! Get the full story at The Chive.
Hey Barack Obama, your stimulus package did not save or create a job for Jenny … add her to the 9.5% unemployment.
Make sure to go to The Chive for the full pictorial story.
The Other Mc Cain seems to think that Jenny is going to have a difficult time finding gainful employment; however, I have to agree with Tiger Hawk. I think Jenny will have no problem at all and a much easier time that former Jet Blue flight attendent Steven Slater.
Who cares whether The Chive “snookered” the web … this was fantastic!

Charlie Rangel’s “Blago” Moment & Democrat Headache … “Hey, if I was you I may want me to go away too. I am not going away! I am here!”
Rangel … “I am not going away.” What is going away is the Democrat control in DC.
Scandal plagued NY Congressman Charlie Rangel’s 20 minute rant was pure “political theatre” and for Democrats an Excedrin PM headache and Pepto Bismol moment all rolled up in one. Rangel had his “Blago” moment as he defensively went on the defensive in his House speech stating that he was not going away. Rangel asks as he begins his speech, “Why did I take the floor today …” Many Democrats were asking the same question.
Rangel says … “I am not going away!”
It was a rant that slammed everyone from House Democrats to Pres. Barack Obama – and he promised not to go away anytime soon. Watch this video.
This was a very senior member of Congress, who clearly thinks he’s been wronged by both the press and his colleagues, sounding off about exactly the way he feels. And he’s pissed off. Here’s a selection of some of the best quotes:
Charlie Rangel even found time in his rant to go after President Barack Obama. Do we sense trouble in Democrat paradise?

Ex-WWE Wrestling Exec Linda McMahon wins GOP Battle Royal Senate Primary in Connecticut
Linda McMahon, the former WWE CEO has won the Republican “Battle Royal” US Senate primary over GOP opponents Rob Simmons and Peter Schiff. With 58 percent of the vote in, AP shows McMahon with 19-point lead over former Congressman Rob Simmons and projects Linda McMahon the winner. McMahon easily outdistanced her opponents 49% to Simmons’ 28% and and Schiff’s 23%.
Former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon won an encore smackdown over Republican opponents Rob Simmons and Peter Schiff to become the GOP Senate nominee in Connecticut.
At a GOP convention in May, McMahon beat out Simmons, a veteran of the Vietnam War, the CIA and Congress, as well as Schiff, a financier. But the two losing candidates gathered signatures to qualify for the primary ballot. Simmons at one point put his campaign on ice, then reignited it in time for the election. He won the endorsements of a number of newspapers, including the Hartford Courant. The newspaper said Simmons’ “impressive resume” outweighed his “strange campaign.”
All of the Connecticut – Summary Vote Results can be found HERE.
Linda McMahon will now take on Democrat Richard Blumenthal in the November midterm elections for the Senate seat vacated by Chris Dodd, who was losing badly in polling prior to his exit. In the latest Rasmussen poll prior to the primary, Blumenthal was leading McMahon by 13%. Since Dodd decided to call it quits knowing that due to his Countrywide scandals he would lose the race, the CT Senate seat has pretty much become a solid Democrat hold with Blumenthal. I guess the Nutmeg state does not care whether their candidate openly lies about his military service. One would think that in the present political climate and the low approval ratings of Congress that “We the People” would want truthful politicians. Then again, maybe not.
It’s pretty bad when even VP Joe Biden uses you as a gaffe punch line. The Connecticut voters have 84 days to figure out whether “a few misplaced words” are emblematic of what the future has to offer with Democrat Richard Blumenthal.
Just when you thought that the Connecticut US Senate race was a done deal for Democrats … along comes the truth about AG Richard Blumenthal’s actual service in Vietnam and the lies he perpetrated … the truth is, there was no service in Vietnam.
Actually candidate Blumenthal what is unforgivable is lying about being in Vietnam when you knowing received and went out of your way to get 5 deferments to make sure you never were sent to Vietnam.
UPDATE I: Democrat Dannel Malloy Wins Primary; Ned Lamont Makes Concession Speech.
Isn’t this fascinating, Malloy comes out of no where to defeat Ned Lamont in the Democrat primary for CT governor.
