Probably, and many other things, like jobs, peace of mind, ability to sleep at night, hope for the future, etc.
This is no different than what happen during the great depression of the 1930′s. Many, mostly men, could not see their way out of the financial mess made by FDR and chose to end their life.
It has long been a proven fact, backed up by years of documented studies and research—that the worse and the longer that the economy is bad (especially over more frequent and consistent periods of time)
the HIGHER the overall suicide rates become. This is also typically true, with the highest reported numbers, coming directly out of the specific geological areas which are more depressed and affected even more severely over all.
Known fact.
was that mess made by FDR?
the same as this mess was made by Bush?
