Rangel … “I am not going away.” What is going away is the Democrat control in DC.
Scandal plagued NY Congressman Charlie Rangel’s 20 minute rant was pure “political theatre” and for Democrats an Excedrin PM headache and Pepto Bismol moment all rolled up in one. Rangel had his “Blago” moment as he defensively went on the defensive in his House speech stating that he was not going away. Rangel asks as he begins his speech, “Why did I take the floor today …” Many Democrats were asking the same question.
Rangel says … “I am not going away!”
It was a rant that slammed everyone from House Democrats to Pres. Barack Obama – and he promised not to go away anytime soon. Watch this video.
This was a very senior member of Congress, who clearly thinks he’s been wronged by both the press and his colleagues, sounding off about exactly the way he feels. And he’s pissed off. Here’s a selection of some of the best quotes:
Charlie Rangel even found time in his rant to go after President Barack Obama. Do we sense trouble in Democrat paradise?
• “The President wants dignity, let’s have dignity in this house, where the ethics committee means something. And that none of you, if the newspapers say anything, will have to wait two years before you can say ‘no comment.’”
• “If I can’t get my dignity back here, then fire your best shot in getting rid of me through expulsion.”
As stated at NRO, Rangel realizes that he is a thorn in the side of Democrat’s re-election bids and the House leadership. What a mess this is turning out to be as Rangel and Maxine Waters will be facing Ethics hearings right before the 2010 midterm elections.
Rangel also acknowledged that he is quickly becoming a thorn in the side to House Democrats who hope to hang onto their seats this fall. “I apologize to the leadership,” Rangel said, adding that he feels “for those people, especially newcomers” to the Democratic caucus who have to answer questions about his conduct. Still, he said, “I am not going away.”

Rangel is the poster child for why there needs to be TERM LIMITS!

I think there should be term limits for every part of our Government even the Supreme’s!

For the House to tolerate this BS is counterproductive. It appears as if he will just be given a slap on the wrist anyway. Stubborn old Fool won’t do the right thing and step down.
