Just “Plane” Offensive … Plans to Build Mosque in Shadows of Ground Zero Near World Trade Center Moves Forward

Only in America and the Muslims know it … This is just “plane” TASTELESS & OFFENSIVE!!!

PC WILL BE THE DEATH OF US … There are some things that just jump out at you and reek of being so wrong. This is one of them.

This could only be described as what are they thinking and could they possibly rub more salt in the wounds of the families who lost loved one’s on September 11, 2001 when Islamofascists, radical Muslims flew not one, but two planes into the Twin Towers and killed 3000 innocent people.

Does anyone honestly think this is the proper location for a mosque, or have you forgotten?

A 13-story mosque and Islamic cultural center has been approved to be built just steps away from Ground Zero. Could you imagine 1,000 to 2,000 Muslims praying every Friday in the shadows of Ground Zero?

A proposal to build a mosque steps from Ground Zero received the support of a downtown committee despite some loved ones of 9/11 victims finding it offensive.

The 13-story mosque and Islamic cultural center was unanimously endorsed by the 12-member Community Board 1′s financial district committee.

The $100 million project, called the Cordoba House, is proposed for the old Burlington Coat Factory building at Park Place and Broadway, just two blocks from the World Trade Center site.

“I think it will be a wonderful asset to the community,” said committee Chairman Ro Sheffe.

A wonderful asset eh, I dare say there are probably many New Yorkers, US citizens and familes who had loved one’s die on 9-11 that would disagree. Guess what, there are!!! One really has to wonder at the common sense being used and the lack of respect that this committee would have to allow some thing so offensive and has such symbolism as a Muslin mosque so close to the very site that his a living shrine to those murdered by those that killed in the name of Islam.

No one at last night’s meeting protested the project. But some 9/11 families said they found the proposal offensive because the terrorists who launched the attacks were Muslim.

“I realize it’s not all of them, but I don’t want to have to go down to a memorial where my son died on 9/11 and look at a mosque,” said retired FDNY Deputy Chief Jim Riches – whose son Jim, a firefighter, was killed on 9/11.

“If you ask me, it’s a religion of hate,” said Riches, who did not attend last night’s meeting.

Rosemary Cain of Massapequa, L.I., whose son, Firefighter George Cain, 35, was killed in the 2001 attacks, called the project a “slap in the face.”

“I think it’s despicable. That’s sacred ground,” said Cain, who also did not attend the meeting.

“How could anybody give them permission to build a mosque there? It tarnishes the area.”

Why is it that Americans have to prove that we are a tolerant people? Americans have their fellow Americans brutally murdered by Islamic-Fascist cowards and some how we have to bend over an allow a Muslin mosque to be built in the shadows of GROUND HERO. How about no and HELL NO! As Jihad Watch states, we are supposed to continually prove our tolerance, yet expected to accept Islam’s claims of tolerance.

This is beyond tasteless … We have a building that was damaged by debris from the September 11, 2001 Muslim terrorist act that brought down the Twin Towers in NYC about to become a Muslim mosque. So in essence, the only reason why the location is available to be a Muslim mosque is because radical Muslim made it possible and in the process killed 3000 innocent people. One would think that 9-11 families with murdered loved one’s would have deference in such a decision … not Muslim organizations that claim they are doing something good.

Anything having to do with that day, that place, carries enormous meaning. Now two Islamic organizations have partnered to build something that they say will bring some good from something very bad.

Organizers say the project will create a venue for mainstream Islam and a counterbalance to radicalism. It earned a key endorsement this week from influential community leaders.

EXIT QUESTION: What’s next a pro-Neo Nazi Museum on the Temple Mount in Israel?

I completely understand the victims and their perspective on the situation, but there’s one thing that is being overlooked. You raise the question, “what’s next?” and dare to compare a pro-Neo Nazi museum on the Temple Mount in Israel to the construction of a mosque near ground zero. That’s a bit intense, wouldn’t you say? In essence, the religion of Islam is NOTHING like the radical, fundamentalist portrayal of the terrorist’s “Islam”. Actually, there isn’t an ounce of true Islam in fundamentalism. So why are you giving these innocent Muslims, who are just trying to create their own normal Muslim community, a hard time? Those Muslims personally had nothing to do with 9/11.
      ___________
SM: It is not intense when you ask a victim of 9-11. Ask a family or some one who lost a brother, sister, father, mother, daughter or son.

Why am I giving them a hard time, spare me. Obviously YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN.

This absolutely makes my blood boil. This is like a slap in the face to the families of the victims from 9/11. What have we become now? A country that appeases those of other countries and ignores the wants of it’s own citizens. This is absolutely despicable and I cannot believe that anyone calling themselves Americans would approve of this. What ever happened to the rights of the victims & their families?

      This is sickening

Building a mosque even in the same city as the 9/11 attack is wrong. Islam is not a “Religion of Peace.” It is a religion of hate and blood. All one has to do to understand this is to read the Koran. Mohammed said that Muslims should “Cut the neck” i.e. behead infidels. That would be anyone who is not a Muslim. We do not need to be tolerant of those who wish to kill us. A true-believing Muslim is directed by Allah to kill and plunder. They even sacrifice animals. Their Allah was originally a moon goddess. For God’s sake, people, wake up. The Constitution of the United States is not a suicide note.

Further, Mohammed was a pedophile. He married a nine year old girl. A true-believing Muslim feels that they must emulate this and become pedophiles. There have been several instances recently in Middle Eastern countries of girls as young as nine dying as a result of marrying an old man and being raped. They bled to death. Is this what we must tolerate to be PC?

I would prefer a monument to Hitler and the Third Reich rather than a Mosque. Shame on the people of this country who tolerate a Mosque in NY. I feel the entire country is going insane.

    10. KnightHawk on May 7th, 2010 9:17 pm

5 – No I have not, they may exist but all steel and glass… yes I would say it is to mock the WTC, they’ll claim it’s to ‘honor it’ though, what BS.

There is such a thing as TACT, and clearly the good Muslims lack it in spades. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS.

“Imam Feisel Abdul Rauf, who helped found the Cordoba Initiative following the 9/11 attacks, said the project is intended to foster better relations between the West and Muslims.”

      This guy must be joking.

Here are three tips for better relations with the West:
      1. Don’t build a massive glass and steel Muslim mosque built to recruit and entice people to your cause two blocks from the WTC site, it being one of the worst examples of your supposedly only ‘peaceful religion’.

      2. Stop members of your peaceful religion from either feigning outrage or outright committing violence if not acts of terror, when anyone either jokes or criticizes your ‘peaceful religion’.

      3. Most importantly, and I know this one may be hard, but it’s neccessary, STOP purposely blowing things up and killing people for none compliance to your ‘peaceful’ religion.

The fact that this was proposed, let alone approved, is just another sign we’ve entered the twlight zone.

In any event, this mosque near the WTC is utterly repulsive and a slap in the face to 3000 innocent people who lost their lives.

The very thought of jumping to my death from the 97th floor is horrible enough, but to add this horrendous insult is the height of epitome.

To begin with, I’m not saying I’m for or against the ideas of this post; I’m just wondering about the implications of making this kind of argument.

So, if I understand the argument here; radical Muslims responsible for death of thousands means that a Muslim religious building is abhorrent near WTC or even in NYC (or perhaps anywhere?).

Therefore, since untold German Christians, arguably led by a Christian Hitler, were involved in the murder of millions of Jews, we should oppose any Christian religious building similarly placed.

      Just wondering (flame on!).

      WR
      ____________
SM: You would not understand as you most likely knew no one who died in 9-11 or had any involvement to the area.

Why would I find it bizarre that you would ever question why a mosque should be built in the very location that radical Islam killed/murdered 3000 people, many of your own citizens. I guess you might have a different opinion if it happened in Madison, WI and you knew people who were murdered.

Radical Muslims created the availability of property in NYC and more Muslims come in and buy it up for a mosque. Yes, that is sick and in poor taste.

I love the people who claim that Islam is not a “Religion of Peace” and then say “just read the Quran to see for yourself” (oops, I spelled Quran correctly, unlike those bigoted idiots who spell it Koran. Kinda ironic, they claim that everyone should read the Quran, insinuating they have, but can’t spell it right? Looking at you BabyBear)

I’m an atheist, and I support this building going up, because, we are a nation of many religious faiths and lack thereof. I’ve browsed the Quran, and I must say, I’ve seen more blood, violence, etc. in the Bible then I’ve seen in the Quran. If anything, Christianity and Judaism is the “religion of blood and violence”. Get your facts straight please.

Funny how the media never made one single mention–not one–of the fact that St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was destroyed in the 9/11 attack. Where are the plans to rebuild that? Hello? Anyone? It’s especially galling when yoiu consider that it is the Orthodox Christian world that has suffered the most rape, murder, genocide and enslavement under Islam than any other group on earth.

You know what? I’ve had it. F**k NYC. After this disgrace and Bloomberg’s stupid cowardice–trying to implicate the tea party folks in the times Square bomb–they deserve to get hit again. There, I said it.

Two muslims, employed by the federal government, objected to Rev. Franklin Graham’s praying on National Prayer Day. I wonder if anyone in the USA has noticed since the Bible has been taken out of everything, prayer being objected to, that things have gotten insanely worse. These muslims come to my country, 32 years US Army here, and use the US Constitution against myself and all fellow Americans. This *********** is insane. Best thing would have been for the muslims to stay home that day. Take leave. They do their multiple prayer times per day yet they don’t want Christians to pray. America is a melting pot of all kind of religions and people and this is why it’s a great country. God sent all the messengers with one message to worship God and be good to each other and build not destroy and to tolerate each other. However, what is happing now and what has been happening since day one on earth of war and killing innocent civilians has nothing to do with what God sent to earth with his three messengers (Moses, Jesses and Mohammed) Judaism, Christianity and Islam, the three religious never called for war or killing, all these crimes are done by the hand of evil people in the name of the religion.. Please stop associating religion with bad behavior; please take the time to read about Judaism, Christianity and Islam and then you will find that they all call for peace.
      _____________
SM: You might want to check and see that all the messengers got the correct message.

One question to your comment … when all religions speak out against killing then I will believe what you say. Not until all Muslim clerics, leaders and people come out and condemn the killing and personally go after the radical nuts that have hijacked their religion will I believe it. Muslims need skin in the game. By not doing so they are merely allowing terrorists to have their way.

If southern people cannot fly a confederate flag because it offends African Americans, how can the Muslims be allowed to build a mosque at the very site where their countrymen murdered American people? What in the world is happening in this country? Not all Muslims are murderers? Well, not all southerners had slaves. The comparison is obvious. I beg you, fellow Americans, help to take back our country. It is being parceled out to any and all foreigners. The construction of this mosque would be an outrage, a slap in the face to the martyrs of 9/11. What more proof do we need that the US is being controlled by vicious minds who have no care for America or its citizens? We need to do something now.

    24. Ellen Weaver on May 9th, 2010 8:58 pm

Muslims wanted to keep Mr. Graham away from National Prayer Day. I, as a Christian, strongly object to Muslims publicly praying in my country. If Allah is so great and powerful and the God of the Christian world is so weak and horrible, why is the USA the greatest country and the Allah-filled coun tries among the poorest and war-ridden? We need to show solidarity and power against these groups. Didn’t someone say that all it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing? It is PAST TIME for all of us good men and women to take a stand.

    25. Wisconsin Resident on May 10th, 2010 1:50 am

      #14 – SM:
First of all, in my post I choose not to talk about understanding feelings, and wanted to see if what thought processes were in play. As stated, I was asking about the implications of what it means to make the argument regarding mosque placement as it relates to the actions taken by those responsible for 9-11.

As far as I know, Islam, as a religion or religious movement (or whatever), didn’t take any actions on 9-11. People carried out the attacks. I was asking if the Islamic beliefs of these people, combined with their actions, leads to the conclusion that all of Islam should be held accountable. If Wikipedia is largely accurate, there are over 1 billion believers / followers of Islam worldwide.

Let me try another analogy; lets say there are about 20 people from a country whose total population is at least 100 million. These people conspire to commit acts of violence that overall kills or injuries hundreds of people. Are their fellow citizens responsible and accountable for the actions of the small group? What restrictions should be applied to the innocent fellow citizens when abroad, such as owning businesses and other legal activities such as developing a building for their own particular interests?

At what point are legal actions subject to prior restraint due to tenuous connections, at best, between involved and non-involved groups? I was just wondering what feedback there might be on this point.

Second, I think my outlook has a very different aspect than one I so often seem to perceive in others regarding this topic. Although I, as an American, feel the sense of loss from 9-11, I also feel generally safe and secure in our country. I’ve traveled, alone and with family, several times since 2001. In fact, my wife and I flew to NYC in spring 2002. In all that time, I’ve not been afraid, or feared for my safety in the least. Not due to enhanced security measures, or faith in the government, or anything that would have changed since 2001. I’ve lived my life quite normally because, on average, there is no increased threat to me now than in 2000 or before. Without checking the actual statistics, I’m rather confident that threat from terrorism is likely not even near the top 20-30 problems we as Americans face as far as death or severe injury.

I refuse to let my life be absorbed into a world where fear and devastation is ever-present. I refuse to be afraid. I guess that having this Mosque in NYC doesn’t affect me, and I don’t understand why others find themselves affected by it. Perhaps the symbolism is lost on me, or I don’t get ginned up by listening to what some people say about how they think I should feel or react to such events or decisions.

I also don’t buy into the guilt-by-association perspective. I can separate out that 19 Muslims attacked us, and over a billion didn’t. I don’t hold the billion accountable (even if there may be more waiting in the wings).

Lastly, I can only explain my side and how I relate to this. I believe you feel the way you describe; each of us has an individual reaction and feelings. It’s who we are as a person. If we were all 1 size fits all, political blogs would be boring.

      WR
      ______________
SM: As previously stated, you would have a much different opinion if you had a personal connection to the deaths of 3000 innocents.

It is in poor taste that they would ever allow the very religion who the terrorist were apart of to build a mosque on land made available by the terrorism. The families of 9-11 have suffered far to much to have this type of salt put in their wound.

      It is disgraceful.

BTW, as to your security in NYC … check out the news lately with regards to Times Sq bombing attempt? The only reason why hundreds maybe 1000′s of people were not killed was S%#T LUCK that the bomb did not detonate.

There’s some security for you … or would you have rather been on the plane Christmas Day with the underwear bomber. Oh my, guess what … there’s that guilt by associate … those radial Quakers at it again scheming to blow things up.

There is nothing wrong with them building a Mosque. Great… Whatever. But why build it there unless you are trying to send a message? The best way to logically assess a situation is to reverse the players.

Say 20 fanatical Christians took a trip to the middle east and destroyed one of their buildings while killing 3000 innocent civillians. Then say 10 years later after the real estate has been “created” that we decide to build a church on the site. Oh wait… We wouldn’t do that. Why? Because we know better. We know right from wrong. We would never even consider being so disrespectful as to mock all the innocent lives lost. Muslim and Christian alike. Before I was content with just thinking that there were only a handful of Muslims that were bad apples that only reflected poorly on the whole. Now, after this, I am beginning to think otherwise. Islam, “a religion of peace” should go out of its way to create and maintain the peace. This action is anything but and all I can say is even with all your claims these actions show your true feelings. The Kuran or Quran… It is spelled both ways by the Islam faith btw… says that war is deception. These actions show us your true intentions. If the muslims were good people and they were different than the fanatics they would not stand for such a blatently disrespectful showing.

They would say we are so sorry for these fanatics is there anything we can do to make this right. Not… “Hey since you’re not using that space anymore I had a sweet Mosque I wanted to build.” Idiots!

I only focused on how Christians would have never even thought of building a church if the situation were reversed. Let’s be honest, what kind of reaction would there be from Muslims if the shoe was on the other foot. All the Christians and there church would be destroyed in the name of Allah in a day.

Yet when they do it they act oblivious like nothing is wrong. Well I have news for them, they are only going to be able to prey on America’s tolerance for so long before we say enough is enough. And when that happens, your Allah (who is not the same as my God) is not going to be able to save you. And on that day you’re going to wish that you would have just stayed in your sandbox and left the other kids on the playground alone.
