More On Bill Maher, Polical Pundit Extraordinaire … ABC This Week, Political Round Tabe or Three Ring Circus, Send in the Clowns

Yet another dissatisfied Bill Maher shopper. Micky Edwards from The Atlantic is some what late to the game in discovering Maher; however, is non too impressed with the so-called “funny & witty” Maher.  Wow, this is going to leave a mark.

Yes, I know I’m retro, but until this weekend I had never seen nor heard the apparently quite famous Bill Maher.  That oversight has now been remedied thanks to some seriously brilliant producers at ABC television who were insightful enough to book Mr. Maher as a participant in the roundtable political discussion on “This Week.”

Although I had not seen Mr. Maher nor heard him with my own ears, I had heard of him from friends who apparently thought him to be quite a “hoot,” funny, witty, and pretty darned smart.  In imagining him from those descriptions, I pictured a modern-day George Carlin, maybe even a lineal descendant of Cheech or Chong.  Adept at skewering, skilled at eliciting gasps, a provider of secret pleasures (“right on,” one wished to say).

What a surprise, then, to find that in fact Mr. Maher is neither funny nor smart.  He is, I found, nothing more than just one more of those full-of-himself mean-spirited bigots whose certitude and nastiness so poison the well of democratic discussion.

Yet more silliness from Bill Maher from ABC’s This Week with regarding racists and Republicans. One really has to wonder what the brain surgeon producers were thinking at “This Week” by booking Bill Maher. Really! A political round table show that used to be serious with folks like Cokie Roberts and Sam Donaldson. Whether you agreed with them or not, it was not a Three Ring Circus booked with A$$ clowns.

If you are a racist, you are probably Republican

ABC needs to take a real good look at to what they want to be about. Serious political wound table or Left wing bomb throwing joke. There is a reason why Maher is on HBO Entertainment.

Holy cow! What a great quote! (grrrrrrrrrr! Wish I had written it!) This piece was extremely insightful and well-written. I’ve bookmarked Micky Edwards’ page and will return to read more of his articles. It never ceases to amaze me at how knuckleheads like Bill Maher rise to such levels.

SM: The interesting part is that I hardly think that Micky Edwards is a right wing conservative.

Snarky does not equal funny or smart. The same applies to Jon Stewart, Joy Behar and even the president.

I think all of the far left are “snarky”, look at the comments you get from them here. I have never seen a president so condesending to anybody he does not like, and that is a lot of people.

Maher appeals to this group, they all have the same mindset.

Mahers’ being on the show was absurd, but at least some of his more ardent fans finally got to see what happens when there’s no college-aged studio audience combined with a stacked panel to do his bidding. That said, having Al Sharpton on wasn’t any better. Seriously: Tawana Brawley. Jeez.

For a great highlight reel of Bill Maher’s ill-advised stab at punditry along with the fiery parts of the roundtable debate in under 10 minutes (including the web-only Green Room segment):

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJPG1mWiow8

The 30 minute clip was whittled down to just under 10 minutes. Over two thirds of the Roundable segment ended up on the cutting room floor. This edit provides the meat of the progam with the bonus at the end.

I am very conservative politically and do vote Republican, though I’m not registered as such. I will go so far as to recognize (how can we not?) that many Americans who are prejudiced against blacks and Hispanics would hardly be likely to vote Democrat but rather Republican. That said, Maher’s comment is STILL pure unadulterated idiocy. Why?

Because R-A-C-I-S-M is the worldview that divides that humanity into the “good” and the “bad” on the basis of a skin color. For Maher to think (if he really does) that all such people maintaining that kind of worldview are to be found in or associated with the Republican party is, at best, moronically naive and, at worst, intentionally… and slimily… insidious. Either way, Maher turns out to be a true jerk. I suspect that’s the last time they’ll ever have THAT comedian (joker, clown…) on “This Week”.

I am quite sure you’ll find that the dramatic preponderance of those Americans with an inner, ingrained, constitutional antagonism towards white people… are voting Democrat.

“ABC needs to take a real good look at to what they want to be about. Serious political wound table or Left wing bomb throwing joke.”

As far as I can tell, they, and the other DNC networks (MSM) have already made that choice.
