UPDATE I: Family Guy’ Voice Actor (Andrea Fay Friedman,) Says Palin ‘Does Not Have a Sense of Humor

One person who supports the “Family Guy” staff is Andrea Fay Friedman, the 39-year-old actor and public speaker who played Ellen in that episode. Like the character, Ms. Friedman also has Down syndrome.

In an e-mail message sent on Thursday to The New York Times, Ms. Friedman wrote:

I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line “I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska” was very funny. I think the word is “sarcasm.”

In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life.

How sad that once an actor, no matter who they are or what their disability is becomes a mind-numb product of the Hollywood system and will do and say anything for a buck.

Gee Ms. Friedman, do you also think that kicking puppies, knocking down old people and kicking the crutches out from poeple is funny too? What because you have Downs Syndrome, you think that gives you the right to make fun of other with Down’s? You poor warped, sad individual.

How come the Times did not print the entire email, The Gawker did. Notice something missing from The Times?

I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line “I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska” was very funny. I think the word is “sarcasm.”

In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life. My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes.

This is how insane the moonbat LEFT is. An individual with Downs is willing to throw other disabled Downs under the bus because of the political party that their parents are affiliated with. SICK!!!

      Dana … thank you.

The mocking of Sarah Palin’s son was wrong … wrong … wrong. It is downright cruel to Trig and … others living with challenges that are beyond their control.

Why in this political correct world are those who possess physical and mental challenges beyond their control allowed to be undermind … allowed to be verbally abused by the media/networks as well as others who somehow deem themselves more worthy?

Joy Behar? Dana … I could not agree with you more.

Not funny. Making a living off politicians children is Taboo. Letterman got away with it.
When Obama’s children are made fun watch the MOBS attack. It will never happen.

    3. Michelle on February 18th, 2010 5:33 pm

It is never okay to make fun of those mentally challenged or who have special needs. It is not their fault they were born with these issues. This world has become so cruel and some people have no empathy for others.

I used to like Family Guy but after what they have done, I’m not going to watch it anymore.

Do not make fun of those who cannot defend themselves.

Good job Dana, very well said…

    5. Dolf on February 18th, 2010 6:36 pm

come on, family guy abuses everybody and everything, didn’t you see the episode with Clinton?

    6. akmom on February 18th, 2010 8:58 pm

Thank you Dana. I just don’t get it. So much bull is slung in the direction of Sarah and her family. I don’t see anyone else who would take so much and respond with such class. And, Joy Behar???? Does ANYONE listen to this harpie?????

    7. Michelle on February 18th, 2010 11:13 pm

#5 You are missing the point. It’s never okay to make fun of people who cannot defend themselves. We all know that Family Guy makes fun of Clinton, Bush, Jesus and pretty much every race out there but when it comes to special needs children, it is no longer funny.

    8. Dolf on February 19th, 2010 6:14 am

@2, those politicians use their children when it suits them during elections.

@7: your 100% correct about protecting the special needs kids!!

    9. boris on February 19th, 2010 9:49 am

So when a mentally challenged actor needs to explain a joke to Sarah Palin, who is the defenseless one in need of protection? Clearly the joke was not at all about SP’s children, until SP threw her child out there to respond. The very notion that a person with DS cannot have a political opinion of her own is extremely condescending.

    10. yoyo muffintop on February 19th, 2010 10:18 am

It’s satire, which is OK in Palin’s book. Just ask her about Rush Limbaugh, she’ll tell ya. Lol.

    11. mantis on February 19th, 2010 11:42 am

Obviously none of the wingnuts here actually watched the episode, or you would know that they weren’t making fun of people with Down’s Syndrome. Or do you believe that just including a character with Down’s is automatically making fun of them? Why?

Do not make fun of those who cannot defend themselves.

Sarah Palin can defend herself, and she was the butt of the joke. In fact, her entire life is built around her perceived victimization. All she does is defend herself, often injecting herself into something that had nothing to do with her to do so.

    12. Michelle on February 19th, 2010 11:53 am

#9 We are talking about a child. The Family Guy episode was referencing a child with downs syndrome being the daughter of the former Governor of Alaska. Of course they were referring to Sarah Palin. Again, it’s not funny to crack jokes about defenseless children.

      You people are so clueless.

    13. super dave on February 19th, 2010 1:03 pm

i see that the libcrats agree with making fun of handicapped children. just like an obama worshipper to stoop or bow so low.

    14. mantis on February 19th, 2010 1:20 pm

We are talking about a child.

      What child?

The Family Guy episode was referencing a child with downs syndrome being the daughter of the former Governor of Alaska.

Does the former governor of Alaska have a daughter with Down Syndrome? Even if the teenage female character with Down Syndrome was supposed to represent Sarah Palin’s infant son with Down Syndrome, how were they making fun of him, exactly?

Of course they were referring to Sarah Palin.

Yes they were, but they weren’t making fun of her kid.

Again, it’s not funny to crack jokes about defenseless children.

Who did? What was the joke cracked about defenseless children?

I concede that I do not watch the show.

I could be wrong but … I assume that satire poking fun at Muslims/Islam/Mohammend is an untravelled road for the producers of Family Guy. The risk of riots in the streets and … the wrath of the American President are two huge deterrents.

It appears that those individuals and groups who silently/ peacefully tolerate the untolerable tend to be the targets.

      mantis–

It is not much of an intellectual leap to conclude the “joke” was about Trig. So you are you willing to give them a pass because the “joke” referenced a “daughter” of the former Governor of Alaska instead of a “son” ? If it is hateful and directed towards Palin, it’s OK with Joy Behar and apparently, you too. The hatefulness of the Left is incredible. And don’t dismiss me as some Palinista. I will never vote for her for President, but I like her and respect her as a person and as a mother. Shame on you people.

Little Trig entered the thought process of the majority of viewers when those words came out the lips of the Family Guy character. Mission accomplished!

Satire implies that viewers has to comprehend what the intended meaning is that lies behind the unspoken words.

This is a prime example of how cruel and out of touch liberals are. It clearly shows what scum these people are, i.e. yoyo to try and claim satire against special needs children.

Dolf…she never put her children out there. What is she supposed to do you clown? Hide her brand new baby from the world? Obama flauted his children around during the campaign. Once again, another non-US moron making comments about somethign of which he is ignorant!
      _____________
SM: If you remember from the outset the LEFT was going after this baby … they claimed it was Sarah’s daughters, not hers.

How difficult a concept is it to be hands off the children. I do not care if politicians do use children as props, they are off limits.

BTW, stating that your child has special needs and the want to help others with special needs children is hardly a bad thing to do in life now is it? Sure beats calling people “retards” and making mock of the Special Olympics.
