What a colossal failure! The war on terror is not a Republican, Democrat or Independent issue. It is the protection of all no matter what or who you are. Obama’s handling of terrorism from the outset has been nothing short of a miserable failure. Is he going to give himself a B+ on this as well?
President Obama and The White House plans to release an unclassified report Thursday on what went wrong in the incident involving a 23 year old Nigerian terrorist who The One wants to treat as a criminal who tried to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight.
Just a note to the White House, the Northwest Airlines terror incident was hardly a foiled bombing attempt. Sorry, but a failed detonator does not count as foiled. This terrorist was allowed to some how get on a plane and explode a bomb in an attempt to kill innocent people.
White House national security adviser James Jones says Americans will feel “a certain shock” when they read an account being released Thursday of the missed clues that could have prevented the alleged Christmas Day bomber from ever boarding the plane.
Really, we are going to be shocked? You mean we are not already disgusted! Do you mean like the fact the US Intelligence learned that the alleged extremist links in a database while the suspect was headed to Detroit on Christmas Day … AND DID NOTHING!!! They decided to question him when he landed. WHAT!!! That is correct, the Obama Administration allowed the Christmas Day bomber to arrive in the USA before acting on the overwhelming amount of data they had. Welcome to the war on terror, Obama style.
The new information shows that border enforcement officials discovered the suspected extremist ties involving the Nigerian, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, in a database despite intelligence failures that have been criticized by President Obama.
Or will we be disgusted to know that NCTC director Michael Leiter remained on ski slopes after Christmas Day airline bombing attempt. Then again, what’s the big deal his boss Barack Obama was golfing.
The top official in charge of analyzing terror threats did not cut short his ski vacation after the underwear bomber nearly blew up an airliner on Christmas Day, the Daily News has learned.
Michael Leiter, director of the National Counterterrorism Center since 2007, decided not to return to his agency’s “bat cave” nerve center in McLean, Va., until several days after Christmas, two U.S. officials said.
Is Obama “legitimately alarmed” or just embarrassed that he was nailed by this terrorist attempt looking as weak and clueless as most people feared this in over his head “Ditherer and Chief really is?
President Obama “is legitimately and correctly alarmed that things that were available, bits of information that were available, patterns of behavior that were available, were not acted on,” Jones said in an interview Wednesday with USA TODAY.
“That’s two strikes,” Obama’s top White House aide on defense and foreign policy issues said, referring to the foiled bombing of the Detroit-bound airliner and the shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, in November. In that case, too, officials failed to act when red flags were raised about an Army psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Hasan. He has been charged with killing 13 people.
Jones said Obama “certainly doesn’t want that third strike, and neither does anybody else.”
The first question would be, why are not tweaks made to the security system of the United States every day? Why would it take a near successful terrorist act for our government to react?

KING: You’re not kidding. All right, let’s get to things current. The Detroit terror suspect indicted today. Liz Cheney and some other Republicans say he should be classifieds an enemy combatant before a military tribunal. Now you were a prosecutor. What do you think of trying him in the criminal courts?
GIULIANI: Well, I don’t think it’s really a question of trying him so much as the opportunity that was lost. I think the president made a very big mistake in not making him an enemy combatant because the minute you make him a criminal justice defendant, you cut off the ability to really question him. In fact, as far as I know, I don’t know the inside story here, he went talking until he went out and got him a lawyer, cut him off from talking.
You want to talk to this guy for about a month. You want to keep him an enemy combatant for about a month or two to get all the intelligence he is willing to give you because that intelligence could be about other possible attacks on the United States.
And I really believe the president and Attorney General Holder really should rethink this. They should really rethink this rigid commitment to the criminal justice system. After all, this guy came from outside the country. What he was planning was an attack on America. This is a war-like act. He should not be treated like a domestic criminal.
KING: Can you later treat someone as a military combatant and then later try them criminally?
GIULIANI: You can do anything you want. The Justice Department could move him around in all different ways. The reality is, in this particular case, he should have been treated as an enemy combatant.
After all, the president and the attorney general have authorized military tribunals. Now if you are going to have military tribunals and you’re going to try some people in a military tribunal, somebody who comes to the United States with a bomb to blow up an airplane in one of our cities, should be treated as a wartime criminal, not like a domestic criminal. That may be an academic dispute for some people. But here is the difference. If you treat him as a criminal justice defendant, you cannot question him the same way as you can question him if he’s an enemy combatant. And we want to know, I’d like to know everything he knows. I’d like us to have the benefit. And he sounds like somebody that you could crack pretty easily. It sounded like he wanted to talk and we cut it off.

Wait until the plane landed to take action!! If it had not been for the Dutch hero … that plane would never have landed.
Why was the pilot of the plane not immediately notified of the security risk. This terrorist could have been placed under surveilence and … almost 400 passengers and crew members would not have been at risk from an ignited bomb.
