Perception is everything … Living La Vita Loca while the rest of America worries whether they will have a pay check and a home. Is this really the image that Obama wants to project to the American people? How could a President who for one second tires to tell American people that he understand their plight and feels their pain while renting this 7000 sq foot home out?
Some things just look and smell inherently wrong. Paying Senators off for their vote was one. Staying in this over the top rental property while average Americans go belly up is a second.
While millions of Americans lose their jobs and homes, the Obama’s jet off to Hawaii and rent an $8.9 million home for the holidays. While most Americans cannot afford to take a vacation and are doing “staycations” instead, Barack Obama and family in tow are roughing it up as Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous as We the People foot the expense.
Stephanopoulos on GMA says in his interview that when he talked to Obama back in September, he was already pining for his Christmas vacation in Hawaii. The United States has 10% unemployment and only 29% of Americans think that the country is headed in the right direction.
Welcome to the Obama Winter White House … Obama family from renting an $8.9 million Hawaiian mansion for the holidays … $4000 a night.

UPDATE I: Who Knew Recharging was so Expensive? One Presidents recharge is another communities inconvenience … Of course we were being sarcastic when we stated above that Obama would spin this as stimulating the economy. I guess we all should know better by now.
Last Christmas, the Secret Service checkpoint was nearly a half-mile makai of North Kalaheo Avenue, giving people an opportunity to drive within yards of Obama’s vacation home.
“Now they’re turning around in our driveways,” Sutherland said.
Directly across the street, Sharon and Scott Miscovich had an identical problem.
“It was a lot less of everything last year,” Sharon said. “Now we get all the commotion.”
Secret Service agents had visited their home before the first family’s arrival and “apologized in advance for what was going to happen,” Sharon Miscovich said.
Yesterday, all of the neighbors along Kailuana Place had to stay on their property and were barred from venturing on to city and county land as the presidential motorcade entered the neighborhood just after 3:30 p.m.
“We’re not overly happy, but it’s great for him (Obama), the state and for everybody involved,” Miscovich said.

Freaking UNREAL! Guess who’s flipping the bill and paying Osama bin Laden Barack Saddamn Hussein Obama’s rent??? WE THE PEOPLE of course!! The term “WASTE, FRAUD, AND ABUSE” has just reached new highs. It’s one thing to try to cram a pathetic healthcare plan down our throats, but to “live high off the hog” at the taxpayers expense is something entirely different…
Do we know for a FACT that the American Taxpayer picks up the cost for the Obama Holiday vacation?

Regardless—-in these economic times—I think Barry & Michelle are sending the WRONG MESSAGE TO AMERICANS! What? Camp David is not good enough for the freakin Obama’s? How come they weren’t invited to stay at one of Oprah’s mansions? These people make me sick. Talk about Hypocrites! As soon as Barry stepped out of the White House, Al Queda planned another attack, too.
Wonder what Barry has to say about that??? Luckily- this time the attempt was thwarted. Maybe not so lucky next time.
And the press used to complain about Bush going to his own ranch in Crawford, TX. I bet the overhead for just this vacation, above and beyond the $8.9mil rental, will be more than all the same expenditures for Bush’s entire 8 years of vacations.
Can you imagine the hotel, meal, and transportation costs for all the security, entourage and media that is being shelled out in paradise.
I wonder how many confirmed reservations by ordinary tourists got bumped because of this little First Family excursion?

I figured SM would show its phony outrage on this topic.A few things to keep in mind…
1.) The President receives $400,000 a year in salary, paid in monthly installments, and an expense allowance of $50,000 to defray official expenses. Official perks of the Office include use of the White House, its staff and facilities, medical services, recreation, housekeeping, and security services. Also included is budget for personal and professional staffers, use of a Government airplane (Air Force One) and an entertainment allowance. Additional perks include use of Camp David and Blair House, which serves as the Presidential guest house and a secondary residence if needed. I haven’t found the President’s actual Government pay grade (if there is one), but his salary far exceeds that of Government Senior Executive Service members in Grade 5 (SES-5)
2.) The First Family’s food, beverages and dry cleaning ALL come out of the President’s personal pocket. The First Family has staff members designated for their personal shopping.
3.) When President Obama leaves office, his retirement benefits include a pension, an office, a staff, 24/7 Secret Service protection and reimbursements for staff, travel, postal and office expenses. The Presidential pension is not fixed but matches the current salary of Cabinet members (equivalent to Senior Executive Service Level I personnel), which currently is $191,300 per year.

Why do you care? It’s not your money. It’s the Obama’s own money. They have worked hard all year trying to improve things in this country and deserve a nice holiday vacation away from whiners like you. And remember, this is Barack Obama’s hometown. He is going home for the holidays like so many other Americans. It’s not like he can stay at his late grandmother’s condo where he grew up. He’s the president and there is security to think about. Some people are clueless. Do you really think he’s spending his money? NO.
He doesn’t make that kind of money from his current job. But for the sake of argument. Suppose he is paying for him & his family to vacation in Hawaii. I doubt very seriously that he’s paying for the entire entourage that he takes with him. Also, why would he not go to Chicago to vacation? That’s where he lived prior to becoming POTUS. What is that not good enough? Better yet, maybe he should stay at the White House and save some money. How many of us get to take a trip to Hawaii for Christmas? How many of us still have jobs & a home?
This is the most arrogant and uncaring President this country has ever seen. I can not wait for his term to be over. I’m sick of seeing his arrogant face on t.v. every time I turn it on. He has taken more vacations in his first year than anyone I can recall. Most of the working people have to work a year before they can get a vacation and usually it’s a week maybe two. This man has been on vacation since he took office.

# 3 – The taxpayers pay (and have always paid) the salaries of all elected/appointed officials government wide, to include federal, state, and local governments. We also pay the salaries of all federal, state, county, and local municipal employees. So yes, we know for a fact WE THE PEOPLE are footing the bill for Barry, Michelle, and the girls WASTEFUL, ASTRONOMICAL, OUTRAGEOUS, VERY EXPENSIVE holiday vacation.
