Tiger Woods cancels Meeting with Police for Third Time, But Releases Statement … Tiger Hires Atty Mark Nejame

Tiger Woods has canceled a meeting with the police for the third time with regards to the SUV accident he had early Friday morning at 2:25 AM when he hit a fire hydrant and neighbors tree. The crash sent Tiger Woods, the world’s number one golfer, to the hospital where he would later be released.

Transcript of 911 call for Woods – (Audio of 911 call) – VIDEO

This is rather interesting, Tiger Woods has hired Attorney Mark Nejame. Yes, the same Mark_NeJameMark Nejame who at one time was the attorney for Cindy and George Anthony, the parents of tot mom Casey Anthony who is facing charges for the murder of her daughter Caylee Anthony. My it is a small world after all.

Mark NeJame is about to find out. The world’s No. 1 golfer has hired the high-profile Orlando defense attorney. NeJame will help guide Woods and his wife, Elin Nordegren Woods, through a public-relations thicket after the golfer injured himself in car accident outside his home early Friday. The incident has prompted worldwide speculation because of Woods’ stature and the Woods’ silence up to now on the crash.

This is rather interesting as it is being reported that Nejame will be working for both Tiger and Elin Woods to diffuse the PR situation. Woods has no legal obligation to give a statement to police, Tiger has to worry about other things like image and endorsement.

A spokeswoman for Florida Highway Patrol said the agency was contacted at about 1 p.m. by  local attorney Mark NeJame, who said he is now representing Woods. NeJame told FHP that its interview with Woods scheduled for today was canceled.

Tiger Woods statement, although some of his comments are a bit rather cryptic.

As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I’m pretty sore.

This situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again.

This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.

The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.

This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be.

Wow, if Tiger Woods, one of the most recognizable athletes in the world thinks that this is going to be a private matter, he must still be feeling the affects of going in and out of consciousness from the SUV accident. Even ESPN Sports Reporters were acting this morning as if Woods personally owed them an explanation was to who, what, why and when.

Why was there such a huge delay in getting a squad dispatched?

I’ll agree with Tiger, though “interesting”, it is a private matter unless police say otherwise.

Hmmmnnnnnn….unless the reports are wrong—here are 2 words for Mr. Woods—(who wants to keep this debacle “private”)

      Rachel Uchitel

Have always admired Woods for both his skill level and professionalisim…along with the grace and class he has which seems to exude from every pore of his body. Should all these rumours about another woman be wrong—then he should be filing a lawsuit against National Enr’r and other news outlets from naming her as “the other woman” and going from there.

#2- Kata—I have to disagree. Getting the millions of dollars these types of professional athletes do, the media exposure, endorsements, etc- does not necessarily give them the right to the same types of privacy we take for granted. Kind of comes with the territory.

Let’s remember the story of Michael Phelps smoking the bong on camera……if this story is correct about Woods carrying on with another woman–then he gets what he deserves IMO. If it isn’t—then I agree with his pleas for privacy and in no way, shape or form should the aggressive tactics of the media be tolerated to simply “get a story”. We all know that scandal translates into money=headline stories—but once again-we have to ask at what cost?

People should stop casting stones. There is no proof that Tiger is having an affair. The National Enquirer as a source? LOL! Give me a break! This guy aint stupid enough to cheat and give up half his fortune.

This is definitely a PRIVATE matter. He is not under law required to met with police over this incident.

This may be other peoples business, if they choose. But it is none of my business. He owe’s no press release, and deserves no one prying into his and wifes private situation. Anyone who never had a embarrassing tiff with their spouse…lives life in a flat line. Would be a dull relationship without peaks and valleys. And these two people will continue or become to eachother what is naturally best — the more they are left alone. Even a great wife might once toss a hardball…no need for a cop to anal-ize it, or shrinks who live the worst lives to salt it, nor the press who lie to sensationalize it. I would pick the wife for making amends. All others are merely enterprizing, friends included…giving no great sex with the fix. Enterprizers should own a brothel, if they intend to goof around in private affairs.

LOL..people still bringing up Phelps and the bong…

Stop acting like everybody on here is perfect and never made a human mistake as a 20-something, 30-something, etc….

    8. Penni on November 30th, 2009 12:25 pm

They should leave Tiger alone. If he has a traffic violation, it should be between him and the traffic court. This nothing but gossip out of control. Where are the gossip police.

    9. NewGirlBoston on November 30th, 2009 8:54 pm

      7. Scott— I brought up Phelps only to point out that these Professional Athletes are not using their heads sometimes when it comes to their private lives.

Not judging, and not saying I never indulged—the point here is that Woods is begging for privacy and as I stated—-if he has been unfaithful to his Wife—what kind of message does that send to his fans? Again, it is all conjecture at this point but why do these Professional Athletes and Hollywood Movie Star types constantly beg for privacy when they knowingly make a choice and a living in the limelight? That’s all. Fans/popularity make or break these stars and I do believe the public has a right to some/certain info.

**DISCLAIMER** Even if Mr. Woods’ personal life is not in the best shape- he still is one of the greatest Golfers to ever play the game, IMO—nothing can take that away from him.
