My what a difference a day makes. In this case several weeks. However, it it is being reported at The Hill that Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman has “un-conceded” in New York’s 23 special House election.
It was kind of head scratching that Hoffman conceded as fast as he did election night to Democrat Bill Owens. However, when one is given faulty info, what do you expect. I am sure it was completely unintentional. As others surmise, wouldn’t this be interesting and a kick in the Pelosi pants if Hoffman actually won.
Hoffman conceded the race on Election Night after learning he trailed Owens by 5,335 votes. But the Syracuse Post-Standard reported last week that the margin had shrunk to 3,026 votes after recanvassing.
Hoffman appeared on conservative commenatator Glenn Beck’s radio show this afternoon. Beck asked the him if he would “unconcede.”
“Yes, if I knew this information at the election night, I would not have conceded,” Hoffman said. Beck asked him again if he was “unconceding” and Hoffman replied, “If that’s possible, yes.”
The race depends on the counting 10,000 absentee ballots. Although it appear unlikely that Hoffman can make up the difference as he would have to garner about 65% of the uncounted votes, this does raise other troubling questions.
How was Democrat Bill Owens allowed by law to be sworn into the US House of Representatives and cast votes when his own election has not been certified? Remember, it was Democrat Bill Owens who campaigned that he was against Pelosicare who less than 24 hours after being sworn in broke his first campaign promise and vote for the government take over of healthcare.
