Daily Commentary – Thursday, October 8th, 2009 – A Kidnapping Case in Baghdad … “Just Kill Him”

  • Unable to raise the funds, the victim’s father finally said in desperation, “just kill him”.

Haggling and gambling with your child’s life? Talking about taking a true gamble in life, literally.

By the third day of negotiating with his son’s kidnappers, Rasul Amoore had sold his car, withdrawn his bank savings and borrowed money from his siblings and friends to raise funds for the six-year-old’s release.

Kenny Rogers once sang the following in the song ‘The Gambler”. However, I am sure he only met with cards, not your child’s life. Luckily, this story had a happy ending.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

Now evry gambler knows that the secret to survivin
Is knowin what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
cause evry hands a winner and evry hands a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep.
