RSSIs This Really Presidential? Barack Obama off to Copenhagen to Beg for Chicago Olympics
Is this really Presidential? If your answer is yes, then ask yourself why no other President has done it before? One might ask The One what his priorities are?
Just last week Obama said he wouldn’t make the trip to Copenhagen, citing his need to press for health care reform legislation instead. White House officials mentioned the economic benefits the U.S. would receive from a winning Olympics bid in explaining the president’s sudden change of heart.
First Lady Michelle Obama was originally slated to represent Chicago before the IOC but will now share the duties with her husband.
The United States is in debt up to their eyeballs, national unemployment is near 10% with many states already in double digits, recession, two wars, one in Iraq and the other in Afghanistan where the military commander has asked for more troops, Obamacare is in real trouble and Iran is pushing the nuclear envelop. With all that, President Obama is off to Copenhagen to beg for the Olympics to come to Chicago.
Obamacare is already a failure for the President. As Jules Crittendon states, this is an Olympic sized gamble for Obama. How embarrassing will it be now if Chicago is not granted the 2016 Olympics? Imagine the IOC and International Committee having the opportunity to knock the US down a couple of pegs by giving it to another country after Obama goes hat in hand to beg for the games? That would never happen, would it?
For Michelle Obama to go or Oprah, that’s fine. But the President of the United States? Huh? Isn’t the Office a little bit bigger than that? Aren’t there more pressing things that Obama could or should be doing?
The military issue is a pressing one in Afghanistan and a decision needs to be made immediately. Yet, instead Barack is off to Copenhagen. The Weekly Standard is reporting that Obama will make a surprise trip to Afghanistan. Of course he has to at this point to justify any trip to Copenhagen.
Hmm, doesn’t seem like every one wants the Olympics in Chicago as six people are arrested in Chicago at anti-Olympic protest.

Rio – bidding to become the first South American city to host the Games – lodged an official complaint with the International Olympic Committee’s Ethics Commission about a remark made by Chicago Mayor Richard M Daley which they took as a criticism of their bid – something that is not allowed under IOC rules.

The fact that he and his entire posse is going over to Denmark on our dimes bothers me. The fact that he is never working and can’t be bothered to talk with the Generals bothers me. If the Olympics goes to Chi town guess who will make money all of his friend and the Unions. Guess who will pay for it? Taxpayers thats who.

If I read this right, like every other escapade he has done, the agreement is already locked in. Don’t expect miracles on this one, it is sheer calculated apearances like this one that he presents himself as the knight in shining armour. had he not been asssured of the decision, he would not go(as he mentioned the first time that he was “unavailable”.
That and the fact that Chicago politics are hard at work here.
At any rate, I myself welcome the Olympics to Chicago, but let’s see who gets it, as I said, I may be wrong(but I doubt it).
The economy is still in the crapper and THIS is important business to conduct? Ridiculous!
Between this trip and Michelle Obama and Oprah-Yes-I’m-kissing-your-Ass-because-I’m-Black/Successful-and-from-Chicago-too Winfrey plugging for Chicago…..it’s enough to make you lose your lunch.

#7—-The recent murder of which you speak in Chicago was truly a troubling story. While they may be known for the best deep dish pizza in our Nation-they are also a City rife with corruption & crime…..if we have to host somewhere in the States—couldn’t the comittee have chosen a better place for the 2016 Summer Games.

Chicago will not be disappointed a lot if the Olympics goes somewhere else in 2016. It is one of the greatest cities in the World and will always have a good chance at hosting the Olympics. Chicago made dreams come true for many.

Sorry Bernie, someone apparently forgot to tell you, This is the United States of America and Barack IWon Hussein Obama is President of the entire United States, not the City of Chicago.
In case you haven’t heard, the US is going through a financial crisis. A crisis soooo bad that the President of the US had to take over two private companies, dole out $750,000 billion to banks and $787,000 billion to “stimulate” the economy (which regardless of what Gaffe Biden says, is NOT working). Unemployment is approaching 10% nationwide and in many states is soaring toward 15%.
On top of that, we have a General who submitted a request for more troops in Afghanistan in August ASAP. His request has been put on hold while Barack IWon Obama thinks about it.
Do you have a clue just how much it costs this nation to fire up Airforce One? Michelle Obama has already taken Airforce One to Denmark. Then it had to come back, get IWon, go back to Denmark, then 4 hours later bring IWon back. We don’t know if Michelle will travel back with IWon or if AirForce One will be sent back to Denmark again to fetch her.

#9, I was wrong. I am surprised this was not a staged episode to honor Obama. That many would think it would be is telling of his past. But, on this I seem to be wrong…unless it later comes out he was tripped-up, after his having been egotistical to the wrong people. Anxious to listen over the next few years to see what may come out about this failed trip.
