43% of Americans Think Barack Obama’s Trip to Copenhagen, Denmark to Beg for Olympics is a Bad Idea … Lost in Smallness

Barack Obama, Lost in Smallness.

There is a reason why no sitting US President has ever gone, hat in hand, to beg for the Olympics. Because it is beneath the office of the Presidency. Just how much is this President willing to diminish the office? Obama has traveled abroad to apologize for the United States and now he travels abroad on the US tax payers dime to beg for the 2016 Olympics for his Chicago buddies.

Obama_olympics

Ok, this healthcare thing is not going well, maybe they’ll listen to me in Copenhagen?

What is President Barack Obama thinking? With all that is going on in the United States and a request for more troops in Afghanistan by the military commander on the ground, frolicking off to Copenhagen to beg for the Olympics?

43% of Americans think it is a bad idea for Obama to travel to Copenhagen, Denmark to shill for Chicago to the IOC, International Olympic Committee, for the 2016 Olympic games, while 36% think its a good move. 21% have no opinion and are too caught up in Dancing with the Stars.

H/T: Don Surber

Oh good grief, let’s hope the IOC gives the games to the nut jobs from Tokyo, Japan because they are stating that the 2016 Olympic Games might just be the last because of global warming. YOU WIN!!! Anyone who is this insane deserves the Games. See, instead of Obama, they should have sent Al Gore … how come Gore didn’t not think of this moonbattery first?

Tokyo governor Shintaro Ishihara warned on Wednesday the 2016 Olympics could be the last Games, with global warming an immediate threat to mankind.

Tokyo is bidding to host the 2016 summer Olympics with Chicago, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid also in the running. The International Olympic Committee will elect the winning candidate during its session on Oct. 2 in the Danish capital.

“It could be that the 2016 Games are the last Olympics in the history of mankind,” Ishihara told reporters at a Tokyo 2016 press event ahead of the vote.

Back to some semblance of reality. It is hard to believe that the Chicago fix is not in by Barack Obama heading to Copenhagen in the first place. Obama may be a socialism, egotist elitist … but he is not stupid. A lawyer never asks a question to a person on the witness stand that they do not already know the answer to. It is hard to believe that Chicago had not been given a wink and a nod for the 2016 games and that is what prompted Obama to go to this formality.

The Obama Administration will spin it as some great victory for Obama in being the linchpin, the reason, The One that won the games for Chicago. Victory? Honestly, who cares. Hmm. If this is the case then Barack Obama is truly lost in smallness. With all that is going on in the US with regards to the economy, war in Iraq and Afghanistan and the Iranian nuclear threat … the 2016 Olympics is supposed to be a priority? Let us not forget that today, first time jobless claims rose more than expected last week to a seasonally adjusted 551,000.

With all that faces the United States, of course Obama should be blasted for his actions in traveling to Copenhagen. Obama has painted hardly a rosy picture of the economy. What message does it send while people continue to lose jobs that he is off to beg for the Olympics for the Chicago machine?

One thing is for certain, the Chicago fix had better be in and the 2016 Olympics had better been a done deal prior to Obama heading off to Europe. If not, Obama will have played a high stakes poker game of Political Hold ‘em with a 7 – 9 off suit with a complete bluff and been called.

Barry! Need We the People to underwrite some profits
for us property holders in the fine city of Chicago. Hey,
is this guy President of the United States or a Senator
      from Chicago right now?

SO….That means 57% must think its a good idea!Majority wins.I bet if GWB was lobbying for Dallas to get the Olympics he would be a hero. You are such a hypocrite man..

SM: Um, how much of an IDIOT are you?

Seriously, did you major in idiot and foolishness was your minor?

WHY SPEAK IN HYPOTHETICALS … IN 8 YEARS IN OFFICE GWB NEVER LOBBIED FOR THE OLYMPICS, HAT IN HAND, BEGGING AT THE ALTER OF THE IOC!

So don’t use “IF”, he never did.

I would think any President, Dem, Rep or Ind is a fool for lowering the standard of the Office of the President by shilling for the Olympics.

Unlike you, I am consistant and do not look the other way as you libs do with your Obamamessiah … as hw screws up left and right and LIES!

SM:You are so consumed by your hatred for Obama that you can’t even take pride in his efforts to have the country host the 2016 Summer Olympics….sad.
      __________
SM: This is where you typical know nothing liberals get it wrong. There is no hate for Obama, he is just a misguided socialist neophyte.

It is not the job of the President of the USA to beg for teh Olympics. That’s what a community organizer might do.

It just shows the world that Obama was never ready for prime time.

Sorry, but there is a reason why no other sitting President has done such an act. I guess they all had no pride in their country either.

      IDIOT!

obama, wife, and big oprah were completely upstaged by Brazil.

    7. Scared Monkeys on October 2nd, 2009 7:52 am

I would find it a near miracle if Chicago was not granted the Olympics … the fix is in.

BTW for the LEFT … Having the President who is beholden to the Chicago political machine shill for the Olympics is the equivalent of Cheney shilling for Halliburton. You would be up in arms over that.

Even though I do not believe its the Presidents job to do this, I would be less concerned if the actual city that he was shilling for was not the very one where all of his political and money ties come from.

The perception of this just oozes corruption and payback.

    8. Scared Monkeys on October 2nd, 2009 8:06 am

#5, welcome to the fold ;-)

They could have sent Michael Jordan, Mike Ditka, other Chicago types … Not Obama.

Maybe someone needs to tell him he is not the President of Chicago, although being a Mayor might be his speed.

blair went for the 2012 olympics
the king of spain is going
the new pm of japan is going
the president of brazil is going

I dont agree with Obama on many things. This is just stupid though.Red can hurl insults and call me a liberal idiot all he wants. We all know what is going on here.

well I have to admit that the Dutch crownprince is an IOC member ;p

      “Chicago doesn’t get 2016 Olympics

COPENHAGEN – Chicago was eliminated in the first ballot of voting for the 2016 Olympics on Friday, a stunning defeat for the city that was expected to be one of the two finalists. Tokyo was also eliminated, leaving Rio de Janeiro and Madrid as the finalists.”

    12. super dave on October 2nd, 2009 10:45 am

so what is really going on here ? Chicago eliminated as site for olympics.
this is a very nice site compared to the violent pro obama sites. their politicians calling black republicans knuckle dragging, foot dragging neanderthals was uncalled for.

    13. david r on October 2nd, 2009 10:50 am

Looks like the IOC just took a big, steamy piss on Chicago’s bid to host the Oympics. That Barry really ahs clout, doesn’t he. Isn’t it amazing how much he has diminished the office of President in such a short time ?

    14. Scott on October 2nd, 2009 10:54 am

      CON IDIOT…

Please tell us all knowing one…what is going on here?

And who is “we.” You are in the minority beeyatch just like Cap and Trade, Healthcare Reform and just about any other leftist liberal program he’s thrown out there…

And BTW, guess the “charm” of Obama has worn out. Well, that’s a fact here and abroad!

      LOL!

    15. Scott on October 2nd, 2009 10:58 am

That’s it…I can’t wait for the racial cry from the liberals. I mean, the IOC must be racists also according to liberal logic? LOL….

    16. Rusty Bridges on October 2nd, 2009 11:29 am

#9, why is this stupid? We are being told that we are in the worst economic crisis as well as the most important moment in the healthcare overhaul, Iran has been sneaking around our backs, soldiers are dying on foriegn soil while Obama considers the political implications of following his Generals requests, job losses are reaching record amounts and the POTUS has time to jet off to Europe to hawk a money losing venture? What part of this is not important to the American people?

    17. Miss-Underestimated on October 2nd, 2009 11:59 am

LL, Chicago NOT. Thanks Oprah!!! Obama I guess you do not impress!

    18. Miss-Underestimated on October 2nd, 2009 12:12 pm

I can’t stop laughing, we “Chicago” was the first one eliminated.

    19. St Stephen on October 2nd, 2009 2:25 pm

      THE EMPEROR HATH NO CLOTHES!

Although I didn’t mind the Olympics coming to Chicago, the vote spoke volumes more than anticipated, i.e.,

      THE EMPEROR HATH NO CLOTHES!

    21. St Stephen on October 2nd, 2009 2:39 pm

…and for all the gushing and throngs of people clamoring in the U.S.A and Europe to hear him speak, the harsh, bitter and cold reality was that he was a voice without substance.

Making the pitch that he did, I had no doubt the “fix” was in. I was deceived, of course, by his charismatic posture which, when viewed with an objective eye, seem to be but a mirage, smoke and mirrors not unlike the programs for health care and the the non-existant job incentives he once enticed us with.

Bah and Humbug…the emperor indeed was exposed, by the IOC, nonetheless, as a weak and timid leader.

For them to choose a city that will more than likely lose money for the Olympics, a city where the homeless population exceeds that of some of our more populated towns, a city ravaged by blight and despair, which will not go away when they come marching in 2016. They would rather choose Rio than the city that works.

It is just as well, I guess. Chicago will do well with or without the Olympics.

Good luck to the people of Rio, as I can see more trouble ahead for the homeless there, as have been the history in that sorry excuse of a city.

    23. MarySC on October 2nd, 2009 3:24 pm

Is this how far we have fallen?

For a President to be criticized for trying to bring the Olympic Games to America?

One might wonder if those critics really love their country or not.

I say Obama made a strong PATRIOTIC move to host the Olympic games and should be praised for making the effor

    24. Jadey on October 2nd, 2009 3:49 pm

I am laughing so hard myself Miss.
Guess Mr IWON has just got his first taste of how America is finally so over his ego big headed ways.
Here you go Oprah and the POtuS. NO!!!

    25. Gwen on October 2nd, 2009 4:42 pm

At first I was disappointed that Chicago didn’t get it, but now I am sad to see that there too many unpatriotic people who are so bitter and cold even if the President were to drop dead in front of them they would take the street in rejoicing. This is truly a sad reality that we are facing in the country right now. I can’t stand mayor Bloomberg, however I supported him when he made the bid for the 2012 Olympics for NY, I wanted him to succeed no matter what.. It’s always great when your country host great international events like that, Its great for tourism and best way to showcase part of our rich culture. I guess you can’t teach people to be patriotic.

    26. kitty on October 2nd, 2009 5:50 pm

I couldn’t believe our President personally went to try to get the Olympics here in Chicago ~ it cost one million dollars of our money to fly his one plane, another one million dollars to have his wife fly in her plane… AF1 and I heard Oprah was with her…

Unbelievable! 2 million of our U.S. dollars to just to fly AF1 & AF2…. where is our Presidents priorities? Guess he really cares about our budget problems… just print some more money ~ oh ya!

Oprah could have taken the Mayor of Chicago with her and vied for the Olympics… and better yet, say Chicago was chosen to have the Olympics come the that city…. how about put a disclaimer that Oprah would have to build all the buildings, then put in new transportation systems as they too, would have to be placed…mmm.. there’s a thought ~ she’s certainly got enough money to pay all expenses to host it there!~

Love how the Big Dig in Boston went… and how we’re all still paying for the dirty dealings that went with it ~ corruption, etc…. I was thankful it didn’t go to Chicago… imagine those poor souls after the Olympics finished there?.. their kids, kids would be paying for it….

oh, no problem with getting cheap help… contractors would be having their illegal aliens to do the work ~ fantastic!

Patriotic, you bet ya!… close the borders of our country ~ stand up for our rights as citizens of the United States of America ~ I challenge our President to implement our laws for a change and oh, if we even question our Presidents veracity… we’re all considered racist… and unpatriotic when we voice our opinions ~

He wants to give 25 million illegal aliens amnesty… our country is imploding and he’s vying for us to host the freaking Olympics…

      unbelievable.

2 Million dollars and counting… cha ching, cha ching, cha ching…

oh, may I suggest that Red, & all the “unpatriotic” critics have a Sam Adams Beer… apparently, we’re behaving stupidly… a duh…gee… Octoberfest has begun!

    27. NewGirlBoston on October 2nd, 2009 6:18 pm

IMO, this whole debacle was embarrassing and a complete waste of time.

#25- Gwen—you are so wrong about one thing. The collective masses on here are NOT unpatriotic-in fact, very patriotic is more like it. No one is bitter or cold or wants to see any harm come to Our President. You are way off! We have a right to speak up and state facts and post our opinions if we do not think (or ever thought from the beginning of the campaign) that Barack Obama was experienced enough to be our Commander in Chief. If we, as Americans, want to critisize the job he is doing, the mistakes he has made, and point out the lies and half truths he has already told, the promises he made to a hopeful America that he has broken,—we are entitled to do so without being called conservative, Republican, racist or to the extreme right! THAT IS JUST NOT TRUE. Stop generalizing!

We are a diverse group who come here to discuss FACTUAL information and current day issues and politics. The only sad reality here is that people like you just don’t get it, and you probably never will!
