Democrats complained that there were no death panels in the Obamacare healthcare 
bill. What about Obamacare throwing you in jail!
Just yet another reason why to never allow the US government to get involved with healthcare.
Unbelievable, does the United States still does have a Constitution? Americans who fail to pay the mandatory for not buying health insurance coverage under Obamacare would face legal action from the Internal Revenue Service. What on earth! Violators could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty.
The Joint Committee on Taxation later rejected an amendment submitted by Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) that would’ve eliminated the individual mandate.
Senator John Ensign (R-Nev.) questioned the Committee’s Chief of Staff, Thomas Barthold, about the penalty, arguing that many Americans don’t believe a mandate on the purchase of health insurance coverage is constitutional.
Senator John Ensign (R-Nev.) later received a handwritten note from Barthold that confirmed his concerns: people who fail to pay the $1,900 fee for not purchasing coverage under Obamacare would be charged with a misdemeanor, charged a penalty of up to $25,000 or face up to a year in jail.
Obamacare is out of control and makes less sense each passing day. The government will unleash the IRS on you, make you pay a fine and have you thrown in jail if you do not purchase their forced healthcare. This is still America, right?
Just curious America, how is Barack Obama going to claim that this $1500 fine is not a tax seeing that he will call out the IRS upon you if you do not follow Obamacare’s mandatory purchase of insurance? Flopping Aces is also curious how Obama will spin this latest lie.
Even though then Sen. Obama campaigned for office against a mandate, he’s on record supporting one now and claiming that it does not constitute a tax even though just about everyone else concedes it is a tax.
Hmm … the IRS deals with taxes, penalty for not paying the $1900 fine will be facing the IRS … therefore the $1900 is a tax!
Talk about some circular logic and yet another reason why Obamacare is nothing more than a farce and attempt to control you. If you don’t pay for mandated insurance you will be fined and thrown in jail. For the fine, you still receive no health insurance, thus you are out $1900 and still have no health insurance coverage. If thrown in jail, you are provided healthcare at a cost to the state and tax payers. Does anyone see an inconsistency here?

Yea right Obama, this is not a tax on the people and the middle class. That is why you have the IRS involved in going after those that do not pay the “big government” fine.
Cuz the IRS has nothing to do with taxes now, do they!
The further along this bill gets, the crazier it gets. Obama KNOWS that this is a tax. He is not a stupid man. But for his whole life, his oratorical skills have shielded him from serious doubts about him. In fact, his personal charm has even shielded him from being asked questions about his actions and beliefs.
He believes now that if he just says it’s not a tax, and says it convincingly, then people will believe there is no tax for not securing insurance.
This one issue illustrates how corrupt this man really is. If you couple this along with all of the other fuzzy messages he sends, it appears as if he’s trying to shield his real intentions from the American people.
I am a firm believer in the notion that Obama is trying to grab as much power for the elites in Washington as he can, not to improve any one issue for the people, but to secure his power so that any attempt at stopping this centralization of power in D.C. will be stopped.

Is this an annual fee/tax or one time? That amount would go a long way toward buying insurance from a private insurer. Assuming Obama keeps hyping this health care plan for the rest of the year, in my opinion he will have accomplished zilch/nothing in his first year in office. I still think all that he does is spew hot air. If I had to grade the guy on his first year so far… I would say somewheres in the D to D- range if not flunk. Why cant everyone(the politicians deciding this issue) just settle on the tax credit alternative where you choose your own plans???? Then move on instead of wasting months and years with this…. One more thought/question- Is dental insurance going to be included????

Annual excise tax of $1,900 if you do not purchase obama insurance and of course that number can change and count on it, it WILL change.
There will also be a tax on what they consider Cadillac plans – Insurance plans offered by your employer that give you, in the government’s minds, too much and too good health care. This could easily effect people who make less than $250,000 since many union jobs offer excellent health car benefits in lieu of higher salaries.
Our military men and women might also be taxed since they are considered to have excellent health care benefits. That’s right, the lower ranks make so little in wages they often qualify for food stamps yet the US Congress may tax their health care benefits!
If it all comes to pass as legislation, this would be insane… it cant possibly be what the majority of tax payers would endorse…. i would take part in any revolt against or a revolution to protest the tax. Any politician who votes for this should have to pay ten times that.

If I should find myself in this position,then I guess the Federal government will just have to kiss my rebel ass! This is so patently unconstitutional that it is laughable. If the courts allow this,then you can be forced to do ANYTHING that the government deems to be necessary or in the public good. The end of freedom and democracy will be determined by this royal edict if it becomes law and the Supreme Court should decide to uphold this forceable act against private citizens.

What is actually stupid is the ignorance of the American people complaining about “this” when the intent is to go after people who intentionally do not pay the fee sort of like that other law. You know intentionally not paying taxes can send you to jail ALSO. this is the similar proposal for something like failing to pay taxes on purpose not those who cannot afford it.

There are already Americans in prison BEFORE Obama was elected for tax evasion. This is not some radical ZOMGOBAMAISTHEDEVIL rule its similar to already existing laws.
I was thrown in jail for not paying $1700 fine last year. 6 months! never been to jail, family, business, properties. And it turned out I did pay it, I just could proove it behind bars already. I lost about everything but my family and home. I was surprised at how the system really works once your in it.
