What concern for “We the People” by our Democratic politicians. Want a metaphor to how much Democrats really care to listen about questions that oppose Obamacare? You need to look no further than the video below where Sheila Jackson Lee found it more important to talk on her cell phone than listen to a cancer surviver discuss health care. We have a representative democracy in this country … who exactly does Sheila Jackson Lee represent? This is the contempt that these people have for “We the People”.
This is about how much attention Obamacare will provide those with illnesses as well. Lee’s excuse was, in Congress we have to multi-task. However, Ms. Lee … at a town hall meeting you are to listen.
JACKSON-LEE: Let me say this- we who are members of congress who believe in democracy are not going to focus on distractions. We’re really going to focus on giving the people the opportunity to express themselves in any way they desire-SANCHEZ: Well- well, look at it. I mean- let’s- I’ll tell you what- let’s play it and you tell us if this is you or not you and if we’ve made a mistake by showing video- that may have been doctored- is there anything about this video that isn-t reflective of what happened?JACKSON-LEE I know nothing about the video- I know nothing about the video, Rick, and I’m not going to comment on it.Then why make the accusation in the first place, Representative?

Seems these town hall meetings have inadvertantly revealed and demonstrated a common thread amongst all the DEMOCRATIC representatives involved. Either through their dialogue or their actions.

This Ms. Sheila Jackson Lee needs to be fired. She does not care about “we the people” as obvious from the above video. She could not care less about this cancer survivor & her concerns about government controlled health care. She could not even get off her damn cell phone long enough to listen to this woman & even answer her questions.

How can anyone defend the actions of Ms. Lee? She obviously could not be bothered with real Americans.
I would have loved it had this lady (cancer survivor) walked over and snatched that phone away from MS. LEE and said “you will listen to me.” Of course she would then be branded a racist, nazis, UnAmerican, right wing extremist. And none of these have anything to do with this lame excuse for a healthcare reform bill.
This is just more proof that the dems DO NOT care about anybody but themselves.
We are taking our country back from these damn liberals.

I agree with #6. She represents an inner city district in Houston whose residents are probably 80% uninsured for health insurance. No telling who was on the phone. She doesn’t care. These hearings are all for show. No one on either side is going to change their minds. I think Obamacare is nothing different from bailouts, stimulus, or cash for clunkers. It is the tired old 60′s and 70′s style of Democratic leadership: if you have a social problem, just indiscrimately throw money at it. Put Obama in a time machine and send him back to 60′s Massachucetts.

I saw this lady this morning on a TV program and she said she thought Sheila took a call that told her to point out certain important people in the crowd, of which the cancer patient was not and was lucky she wasn’t given a head shot to put her out of the health care system since she has already faced cancer and cost a lot of money!!!Oh, yes, WHITE lady.
I actually met her once, back in the mid-80′s when she was first running for an at-large municipal judge position. I had just finished a sandwich and was reading the paper, in a booth in an Irish bar in Houston. We talked politics for about a half hour. I was a Reagan conservative and she was a Carter liberal. She ended up losing the race for justice of the peace, but I voted for her. I was impressed that she had the guts to come into that bar and hustle white, working-class votes. As it turned out years later, she became a much more moderate representative of that district. She is much like Obama: well-educated, and a hard-wired liberal Democrat. She will never oppose Obama.
