Alaska Governor Sarah Palin Says Goodbye … A Special Farewell to the Media … In Honor of the American Soldier, You Quit making Things Up”.

On Sunday, Governor Sarah Palin said good bye to Alaskans and expressed her Freedom of Speech in the process. She spoke from the heart during her farewell speech as she did when she entered the national stage when she was chosen at John McCain’s VP.  She also had a special comment to some in the media. Most certainly the liberal MSM will fairly report her departure as they did during her time in office and when she ran as the first female Republican Vice President.

Palin left office about 18 months before the end of her term. In her farewell speech, she lashed out at the media, which she accused of “making things up,” and warned about encroachments from big government in Washington. “Be wary of accepting government largess,” she said. “It doesn’t come free, and often accepting it takes away everything that is free.” But she said nothing about her plans.

“Some straight talk for some, just some in the media, because another right protected for all of us is Freedom of the Press. And you have such important jobs, reporting facts and informing the electorate, and exerting power to influence. You represent what could and should be a respected a honest profession what could and should be a corner stone of our Democracy. Democracy depends on you. And that is why our troops are willing to die for you. In honor of the American soldier, you quit making things up”. The Gateway Pundit also posted the other bit of advice the Sarah Palin had for the media when it came to the new incoming Governor Sean Parnell and his family:

“He has a very nice family so leave his kids alone.”

Not to disappoint, CBS News, one of those “some in the media” Palin referred to described Palin’s farewell speech as follows: Palin’s “Mad as Hell” Speech; Outgoing Alaska Governor Lashes Out at Media in Resignation Address, But Will It Work in the Long Term? Thank you CBS for proving Palin’s point.

In a fiery speech that felt more like a partisan campaign rally than a formal transfer of power, outgoing Alaska Governor Sarah Palin reflected upon her administration’s most significant achievements and shared her vision for the country’s future. But the address was most notable for Palin’s remarkably blunt swipes at her favorite nemesis: the media.

In her nearly 20-minute speech, which directly preceded incoming governor Sean Parnell’s swearing in, Palin had only a few words to say about her successor, but she had plenty of advice for journalists.

Palin steps down as Alaska governor

“Now people who know me, they know how much I love this state … I feel it is my duty to avoid the unproductive, typical, politics-as-usual, lame-duck session in one’s last year in office,” Palin said, just moments before Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell was sworn in as governor.

“With this decision, now I will be able to fight even harder for you, for what is right and for the truth,” Palin continued. “And I have never felt you need a title to do that.”

The Politico: Sarah Palin resigns, blasts press, ‘starlets’

But speaking in a style that her fans see as plain talk and her detractors consider disjointed, she offered almost nothing about what she was planning to do next.

What is in store for Sarah Palin? One thing is for certain, as the WAPO states, Palin can now define her role.

Palin’s speech was great. That’s the Sarah Palin that her supporters love to see. She hammered, not only the media, but 0bama, and the weakling congress who has gone along with this drive to destroy the economy, and adopt a energy policy which can best be described as bowing to the king of Saudi Arabaia, and forever apologizing.

      As in the Beatles song

“You say goodbye, and I say hello”

The American Public will show the MSM that Sarah Palin is not going away at all.

I noticed the media salivating and hurling their barbs over the weekend. I say, turnabout is fair play and they will be weeping and gnashing their teeth before too long.

too bad this had to happen. we could have had an American citizen for president but, look what the cat really dragged in from kenya.

The best thing for the Republican Party is to put her in the rear view mirror. I like her, but she galvanizes the left like no one else, and many undecideds feel she is incapable of understanding complex issues. i agree with the former Bush speech writer: she spells defeat for the GOP.

#4 – If you agree with it, then you must have some rationale for your opinion.

      What is that rationale?

    7. SUPER DAVE on July 27th, 2009 10:11 am

the only thing that i see here is that political males fear her power. they know that with one little slip on their part and she could pull the rug right out from under their feet and the first thing to hit the floor would be the back of their
      heads.

#6- Palin was terribly unprepared for the Couric and Gibson interviews. As a result, she has been unfairly branded as a lightweight by the MSM and liberal bloggers, who have not let up. She has hurt her own cause by hitting out at Levi Johnson. This kind of controversy is beneath someone who would be president. Perhaps the same thing could be said about her battle with Letterman (who I would have liked to have seen flogged in Times Square for his hateful ‘jokes’). Obama’s operatives are behind most of these groundless ethics complaints. he realizes how dangerous she is to them. But I think we win much easier with someone who does not inspire our opponents so much. The Obama has been goofing up, we make him a one-term president with almost anyone other than Palin. I like Palin, but I don’t think she can win.

3 years is a lot of time, an eternity in politics sometimes, and a lot can happen in that span.

You seem to be assuming that Sarah Palin can’t grow or learn during that time. That is what many in the MSM seem to be counting on. They are wrong.

Follow her day by day and watch her develop as a competent and real threat to the Democrat and old Republican “let’s make a deal” politicos. Remember, she stated that she would stomp for fiscal-conservative Democrats(read Reagan Republicans) so she will be attacked politically from many angles as she is a threat to incompetence and expediency.

I have full confidence that she will be ready for 2012. My opinion, of course, and my vote!

    10. St Stephen on July 27th, 2009 11:53 am

Also, she is the grandmother of the child that Mr. Johnson fathered(or sired whatever the case may be, I do not know what he is doing to bond with his daughter). What do you expect her to do?

I would prefer to leaqve personal lives out of this.

but since then both I Won and Mr. Gaffe a Minute have proved that they are incapable.

      #8dave,
what a gaffe you are. this woman was a mayor and a governor. people that say that she is not qualified for president baffle me. brings to mind bubba from ark. and now the bozo sitting as the president of the US, that has never even had a job.

i will vote for whoever is our republican nominee always. i will never vote for a demonrat!

go sarah in 2012! i will pray for you and don’t stop looking over your shoulder, watch your back. however, i’m sure her husband will be watching over her shoulder also. this is not the end of attacks on her, she is like holy water on the demonrats.

    13. ANewGirl on July 27th, 2009 2:55 pm

Was Palin adequately prepared for the campaign? Perhaps not fully. Did she give it her best shot? I think so, being thrown in literally at the last minute and also- we will all admit—with much respect to Veteran War Hero Senator McCain- he probably wasn’t the strongest REP candidate to date and his campaign not really the best run. I applaud his courage in having the guts picking her.

As to Ms. Palin’s experience—she has and had far more at that time then our current President had in his entire career….mentioned many times before also—but completely DISGUSTING how the MSM treated her and dragged her family in to everything. I also think they were very hard on HRC when she was still in the race—and look where she is now.

Bottom Line: ….Don’t think we’ve heard the last of Ms. Palin yet…you betcha!

This HUMAN BEING was savaged viciously by the liberal MSM like no other person before. What the liberal MSM did to this woman is borderline criminal. NO PERSON would be able to deal with the vicious and most times untruthful lies and unfair that the liberal MSM put out there. NO OTHER POLITICIAN has had their family attacked like this.

Liberals can deny all they want but the majority of Americans know the truth.

Even after the election they continued to pour on this woman and her family. How could she EFFECTIVELY govern? I applaud her for her resignation.

She may not be the best choice for 2012, but she may be better suited for 2016.

Liberals can not deny either which is why the liberal MSM is so deftly afraid of this woman that she resonated with MILLIONS of people!

    19. Love That Girl on July 28th, 2009 7:26 am

Sarah is a beautiful person inside and out. She speaks the truth which is so rarely heard these days. Her word is like the handshake that was binding.

With obama speeches you must dig for the little truth from all the lies that are said in his long boring repeated speeches. The eduacatedfools think they are the only ones qualified to govern.

The TRUTH has just been realized, Sarah Palin governed with Wisdom and Truth, with Love for God and Country, she has succeeded because she knows how to govern from the heart For the People.

The educatedfools have proven they canNOT govern for the people, their intentions are exclusively for their own self interest. They line their pockets, take money from the hard working Americans and continue to keep their constituents in the poor house with welfare. They make the poor feel good by giving them a few morsels all the while they are living the good life, dining all over the world and the hard working American picks up the bill/tab/check.

Yes, Sarah know how to govern, she has common sense, unlike those that only have a educatedfoolsdegree.

God blesss Sarah, Todd and their precious family in the name of Jesus.

Okay, a few facts for you folks here that like to ignore them.

1-Sarah Palin left her small town in DEBT (some conservative credentials!) after her tenure as mayor, in large part to build a hockey stadium on land the city did not own. They are still paying legal bills for this.

2-She hired a city manager to run the day to day operations, which no previous Wasila mayor needed.

3-The media didn’t “make things up”. I defy someone to show where there was a concerted effort to make things up in the way she claims. I’m sure there are examples of erroneous reporting, but this is true of any profession.

4-The reports that made her look so bad didn’t come from the evil, liberal, main stream media. They came from the Anchorage News, where they were all too familiar with her polarizing style of government.

5-Asking what papers you read? Really?! That’s gotcha journalism?! If any other candidate muffed that question so bad, their campaign hopes would of ended that moment. It’s unexamined sexism that causes her supporters to have lower expectations for her in the first place…

palin has run a business, been a successful mayor, that civic center was voted on by the residents and included the sales tax to pay for it. the day she resigned as governor, the state had a balance of $30 billion, yes, billion with a b dollars in the states reserve fund. as her replacement, parnell, said, “sarah’s accomplished more in two and a half years than most governors have done in two terms. she can go into detail about energy or anything else at the same time she’s multitasking several different activities at her home.
palin’s daughter, piper, had a lemonade stand last summer, that gave her more management experience than obama and biden added together.
i’ve come to the conclusion that obama has to have a teleprompter to put the children to bed at night. if you took all the “uugghhhs” out of his speeches, it wouldn’t take half a long to deliver them.

I guess she was just such an awesome governor that she finished the job a year and a half early. She didn’t quit, she just pulled a Dougie Houser! Woo, Sarah Palin for President 2012 to 2014 and a half. Then she’ll quit and run for Empress…
