Death of Steve McNair & Sahel Kazemi: From Info in From Metro Nashville, TN Police Press Conference … Could it have Been a Murder-Suicide?

Early today Nashville, TN and the NFL was shocked to learn that former Tennessee Titan/Houston Oiler/Baltimore Raven QB Steve McNair was shot and killed.

Steve McNair shot and killed in Nashville, TN

Tonight the Metro Nashville Police had a press conference to let some more details out of the deaths of Steve McNair and the unidentified woman. The police released and confirmed that the name of the female victim was 20 year old Sahel Kazemi. She died of a single gun shot to the head.

The details from the Police press conference make one pause and think that this sad and tragic event might have been a murder-suicide. The details from the presser were as follows:

  • Steve Mc Nair was shot multiple time.
  • The deceased female Sahel Kazemi was killed by one gunshot to the head.
  • A hand gun was recovered near the body of Sahel Kazemi.
  • The door to the condo was locked when co-renter arrived.
  • Steve McNair was found dead on the coach.
  • Sahel Kazemi was found dead on the floor.
  • Police said that they are not actively searching for a suspect tonight.
  • They will meet with ME in the morning to go over results of the autopsies.

Police have not called this a double homicide or a murder/suicide; however, the signs are really pointing to the latter. A picture of Sahel Kazemi has been released, see below.

Sahel Kazemi

20 year old Sahel Kazemi was found dead along with Steve McNair

The bodies were discovered Saturday afternoon by McNair’s longtime friend Wayne Neeley, who said he rents the condo with McNair.

Aaron said Neeley told authorities he went into the condo, saw McNair on the sofa and Kazemi on the floor but walked first into the kitchen before going back into the living room, where he saw the blood.

Neeley then called a friend, who alerted authorities.

Police said a witness saw McNair arrive at the condo in the upscale Rutledge Hill neighborhood between 1:30 and 2 a.m. Saturday and that Kazemi’s vehicle was already there. The condominium is located within walking distance of an area filled with restaurants and nightspots, a few blocks from the Cumberland River and within view of the Titans’ stadium.

The family released this statement Saturday evening:

The families of Steve McNair in Mississippi and Tennessee appreciate the concern, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of our loss of a husband, father and son. The family requests everyone would allow them time to mourn. The McNair Family appreciates and continues to request your prayers at this time.

The Nashville Tennessean is also reporting that the death of Stevev McNair appears to be that of a murder-suicude. 20 year old Sahel Kazemi was also found dead at the scene. Kazemi worked at an Opry Mills restaurant, Dave & Busters, and had been dating McNair for months.

It is with deep regret that I must acknowledge the fact that the death of Steve Mcnair and his associate should serve as a constant reminder to each of us to maintain a very high level of integrity and firm commitment to those who we love most. This tragic death has a deeper meaning for me as I have always been a major fan of Mr.Mcnair. Upon hearing about his death I was reminded of the time he was on the front page of ESPN the magazine. The writer depicted Mcnair as the consonant family man and father. In fact, after reading the Article on him, I came to the reality that the man was just untouchable. The article enable me to see who I was and where I was going from a whole new perspective. Thus, what a tratric death of the man who help me to re-invent me……God Bless….You will be forever missed….

Sorry, Zeru, i am confused, it seems to me the GUY is the VICTIM in this situation!!!!! Its VERY SAD, I have no idea how it is to live in a country with gun laws as they are in America, but it sure would put the fear of God into me!!!

20 yr old girl in a the condo of a married man…that pretty much tells it all.. He probably wanted to break it off or did not want to commit. Having known the mindset of typical 20yr olds and what ever goes into the crazy fantasy world of a 20yr old, I would say I am not surprised. Obviously from the multiple gunshots she must have felt pretty raw of something..

#8..compananzi…exactly what I was thinking…I would say a rage killing…”no fury like a woman scorned”!!And the twenty year old mindset of “I can’t live without this in my life”.

Same ol’ thing…interesting that Neely who shared the condo did not call 911 directly…this was a boom boom room…which he and McNair share… that’s where they have their affairs…Now his wife is left with 4 boys to raise alone.. how dumb.

I am tired of people not honoring their marriage vows and not having repercusion from there actions. I love Steve McNair and will always be a fan of his. But aldultery has really gotten out of control in this country. I think the adultery law should be reinstated. Men or women need jail time for adultery. We are confusing our children on the vitual of marriage.

I don’t understand why such a guy with such talent and respect he got from his fans and his peers in the NFL would want to be in the situation with a young woman when he has a wife and four sons at home. Those boys will have this to live with the rest of their lives. If you decide to marry and have children, then you should live your life as an example to your children, and raise them to respect the institution of marriage and also respect your wife. Steve was a favorite of mine in the game, but obviously he did not have his priorities right in his personal life.

“Its a sad thing to killa man you take everything he’s got and everything he’s ever gone have”

Somewhat ,from the movie unforgiven. I feel bad for EVERYBODY, Steve, his Family, his Wife, whom I’m sure is having all kinds of feeling , Mad, Sad, confusion, etc… i want call Sahel Kazemi anything but YOUNG and Overwhelmed mean this was a NFL star. Men are Overwhelmed with Sport Stars so why wouldn’t a YOUNG 20 year old be. Adultery is right below murder in the Bible funny how they never change order . My prays are that Both Steve & Kazemi gave there life to God before their spirits left their bodies..

I’d say this was a “woman scorned” who got even in the way she knew would hurt not just her lover, but his wife the most. Apparently, Steve wasn’t leaving her after all (no divorce papers filed anywhere although he’s said to have told her it was in process).

I agree with the posters who say adulty is a terrible thing and yes, confuses the children stealing their sense of morality/what is right and wrong from them.

We are living in very, dark times and I only see it getting worse. Sadly, where can those of us who love freedom and morality go? There’s not another unihabited America to go to, you know?!
