HONESTLY, DOES ANYONE REALLY NEED TO SPEND A DIME TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION?
We are in the midst of a recession and our Federal Government is spending $423,500 to 
determine why young heterosexual adult men don’t like to wear condoms. That is correct and not a mistake. The NHI, National Institutes of Health, is funding nearly a half a million dollars to study why men don’t like to wear condoms. How can the Obama Administration claim that we are in a budget crisis and spend (WASTE) money on such asinine projects?
The federal government is spending $423,500 to find out why men don’t like to wear condoms, a project government watchdogs say is a nearly-half-a-million-dollar waste of taxpayer money.
Researchers at Indiana University’s Kinsey Institute, with funding from the National Institutes of Health, are investigating why “young, heterosexual adult men” have problems using condoms. The study will include “skill-based intervention” to teach grown men how to use protection.
As the Fausta’s Blog states, this is only the beginning and asks, couldn’t they have had any conversation with any guy at the local bar could have told you?

I agree about the waste of money part. The artical that you directly link to provides “slightly” more insight. The NHI has a 29 BILLION budget. This is not new to the Obama administration. They fund all sorts of stuff that appears questionable, including (again from your source)
a $400,000 study being conducted in bars in Buenos Aires to find out why gay men engage in risky sexual behavior while drunk; a $2.6 million study dedicated to teaching prostitutes in China to drink less while having sex on the job; and a $178,000 study to better understand why drug-abusing prostitutes in Thailand are at greater risk for HIV infection.
They all look like a waste of money to me. I might go far as to say that the benifits of this particular program (finding the mental/physical blocks to condom neglect) has more benefit than teaching hookers not to binge drink…..
Though from the “this just in” catagory; how would you have felt 80 years ago (great depression) about spending tax payer money to study of the effects if intentionally contaminating open-wound-infections with mold? Pretty crazy?
This study is easily mocked, but no, you cannot find out “the reason” for human behavior just by going down to a bar and asking a few people.
Given the health implications of condom usage (esp. in areas plagued by AIDS, such as sub-Saharan Africa), this sounds like a reasonable study to do.
I like how the right wing has an instinct to mock any kind of scientific research that involves human behavior, esp. regarding sex. Meanwhile, nearly $6.9 billion/year is spent on “abstince education”, which doesn’t actually accomplish anything.
That sum is at least 15,000 times as much as this study cost.
Rick give me a break … yes you can.
Go to any bar and ask why a man does not like to wear a condom.
BTW, every culture is different.

It is a useless study in the United States.
Our hard earned money has to be spent on something that makes us all look like fools. This is part of this whole political move, and they are all still laughing at us. We allowed these people to be voted in by sitting back and not getting involved. These jokers are like disobedient children who stick their tongue out at you. They are outrageous, and they know it. They are going to do as much damage as quickly as they can, because they are running out of time. The American people are beginning to awaken from their uninvolved slumber.

Let’s not forget Harry’s train from LA to Las Vegas, Pelosi’s marsh mouse and the millions of dollars spent for an underpass so turtles can cross the road safely. $300 for each of those “recovery” signs you see on wasteful projects, $800,000 for little-used Johnstown, Pennsylvania airport to repave a back-up runway, Non-Existent Oklahoma Lake in Line for Over $1 Million To Construct a New Guardrail, Nearly $10 Million to be Spent to Renovate a Century Old Train Station that Hasn’t Been Used in 30 Years, Town of Union, New York, Encouraged to Spend Money It Did Not Request For a Homelessness Problem It Does Not Have, $1 million to pay for the removal of Mormon crickets in Utah, the city of Billings has asked to spend your stimulus money to improve the landscaping in front of the Crown Plaza Hotel (private property), $1 million on covered garages for people’s bicycles, The City of Redmond, Washington wants to spend $11 million to build a bridge connecting two adjacent portions of Microsoft headquarters (private property), $200,000 for gang tattoo removal in Southern California, nearly $2 million earmarked for swine odor research in Iowa…. and the list could go on and on. But sorry, have to get back to work to pay my portion.
all these pet projects are just a disguise for this money to be used elsewhere. obama is gathering this money to be used to buy another run as president at the next election.
we as citizens will never know where this money is going as said by several economic experts. i should say half of America’s (real) citizens will never know.
the other half are obama worshippers and do not care what happens as long as their boy is in charge.
I am sure that Bush did the same, just as the president after Obama will do the same.
