Andy Rooney: Old Angry, Crotchety Liberal Just Can’t Honor America on Memorial Day

How absolutely, pathetically typical. Sadly, the following is a few too many minutes with Andy Rooney.

Okay, let’s just call Andy Rooney for what he is … a fool and an idiot. It is a sad and bitter man who uses Memorial Day for his political liberal agenda on war. Hey Andy, let’s all just sing Kumbaya and see if that protects liberty, freedom and lives. The fact that you cannot just say thank you is astounding. The fact that a miserable, old liberal can’t see the good in the fact that millions of people have been liberated from tyranny in the course of a war is so typical.

We use the phrase, gave their lives. But they didn’t give their lives, there lives were taken from them
There is more bravery at war than in peace, and it seems wrong that we have so often saved this virtue to use for our least noble activity – war.
The goal of war is to cause death to other people.
Remembering doesn’t do the remembered any good of course its for ourselves, the living.

So how out of touch is Andy Rooney with the public? According to a Rasmussen poll, 44% of Americans say Memorial Day, which honors those who gave their lives for our country, is one of the nation’s most important holidays. Just 7% rate it as one of the least important holidays. 75% of Americans have a favorable opinion of the U.S. military, you know Andy, those people that just like to kill others. Only 11% view the military unfavorably, while 14% are undecided and too busy texting their vote for American Idol.

Andy Rooney would have you believe that the United States of America goes to war just for the hell of it. That we have not liberated so many through the sacrifice of so many.

As the Gateway Pundit perfectly stated, “It’s just a shame this bitter man had to use the Memorial Day holiday to spread his sick propaganda.”

Is it any wonder that most military veterans also happen to be Republicans?

Scott Martin at The Examiner has a great analysis of Andy Rooney and his misguided liberal view on war.

A more dangerous perspective would be difficult to contemplate. War is our least noble activity? The reality is that American wars have historically been America at its noblest. We have fought for our freedom, we have fought for the freedom of others who were too weak or too afraid to fight for their own. We have fought hot wars against the evils of Hitler. We fought and won a cold war against the communist Soviet Union. Until recently, we warred against the evils of terrorism. Rooney’s words opposed our heroic actions at every turn.

Even though Andy Rooney cannot say thank you … we will say it for him. Thank you to all that have sacrificed their lives and their futures for ours.

Andy’s wrong, but what’s new. Many service members did give their lives since they knowingly went to war and knew the consequence might be giving their life.

Only during the draft can one argue that a soldier didn’t give his/her life. Also, idiot Andy, what about the numerous soldiers who have purposely thrown themselves on a grenade (or some other act of heroism) to save the lives of their fellow soldiers. Surely you understand that these acts were “giving” of their lives.

But we are in the days of BO, where it’s PC to pick on US Servicemembers.

The young men that are serving in the military are certainly outstanding. The soldiers of WW1 and WW2 and Korea, and Viet Nam were outstanding.

Their sacrifice is beyond my comprehension.

I receive the newspaper of the Association of the United States Army, and some of the stories are just heart breaking. The bravery of some of those young men and women is the stuff legends are written about.

Let me give you an example, a couple of months ago, they had an article about a young 20-year-old soldier. He was a gunner on a Humvee when a grenade was thrown at the vehicle. He tried to catch the grenade with his right hand, but failed. It went into the vehicle with 4 of his fellow soldiers. Standard operating procedures dictate that the gunner bail from the vehicle, but he dropped into the vehicle, hunting frantically for the grenade. It took a short time to locate it, and there was not time to throw it from the vehicle. Instead, he fell on the grenade, sacrificing his life, and saving the life of his fellow soldiers.

      Andy,

The U.S. still wears the biggest boot. You need to be mindful of such.

Maybe a 20 year old with a size 14 and a half double EE could give you a reminder.

Mr. Rooney has devoted his meager life to fighting
for something (attention). He may see some good in
      government micromanaging the People’s lives.
Freedom would no longer be a factor,
as the Government proclaims itself to be God.
Rooney currently has freedom of speech thanks to
others who put their lives on the line for it.
For Obowma, it’s all about Obowma….for Rooney,
it’s all about Rooney. For the military men and
women, it’s all about preserving the Constitution
and the Country they love and respect!

Does anybody really give Andy Looney credence?

Andy is exactly right. These wars only enrich the bankers who often back both sides. You people are fools clinging to some sense of honor in murder.

Andy Rooney, of the infamous quote….”Did you ever notice?….”

Did you ever notice-that we don’t even notice you anymore?

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…Super-sized Snooze Fest. And most of us on here are waaay too young to be caught falling asleep before the nightly episode of Wheel of Fortune. Mr. Rooney—you Old Fart—don’t forget to take your Silver Centrum and then do us all a favor, and STOP the incessant WHINING

To Alex…who calls war murder. Yes, you are right it is. However, the Bible is full of bloodshed in the name of…what? How many in this world have perished over the thousands of years of human history for one cause or another. But to call it murder, is to question our own humanity. Unfortunately, you cannot change human nature. We all feed on death, it is nature’s way. Does it make it right? No, unfortunately, to the clearer thinking mind, it doesn’t.

Until mankind evolves to a higher conscience, there will always be “bad” people with a goal…and hence…the means to protect that which is ours MUST be preserved.

My heart goes out to the military…that would be the VOLUNTEER military! Who DO GIVE THEIR LIVES. So, Andy, you were old when I was watching 60 minutes when it first aired…and you have gotten no prettier or smarter!

…who better to send to fight a war than those who have relatively little to lose and as a result of that, are angry, killing machines? A perfect war machine is made. The fact is this war is sold to these soldiers….and they buy all that patriotic crap… this what they don’t tell these yg. men and women. Some people like or I’ll go as far to say, need to be told what, where and how to live…where better than the military where no thinking is required. Just pull the trigger. Just what the military and govt’s want. (there are exceptions but few, very few – too few)for if they were to really think about it, they wouldn’t be part of war. I hate war. I hate our so-called leaders exploiting and brainwashing these yg. people. How many soldiers are from Politicians families? Very few. Why is that? Educated people don’t make good war machines. The ignorant/niave or in need can be easily used like a tool in a game that is a collassal sin.
      ________
SM: If that is what you think makes up our military, you must know few in it. Our bravest in the military are not brainwashed, it is those that listen to the MSM sound bites and agenda driven politicians.

War is a necessary evil that keeps us save and our liberties and freedoms in tact. These fine young men and women volunteer because they are a breed a part from most all of us. That are true heroes and partiots.
