34 year old Heath Miller, a band teacher at the H.L. Watkins Middle School in Palm Beach Gardens, FL was 
arrested by school police Monday and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault and lewd and lascivious behavior. The victims are between the ages of 14 and 16. One of those victims also said that she twice had sex with Miller in the uniform room of the school’s band room. Police said he engaged in sexual behavior with at least four female students.
Heath Miller was also having sex with at least one other teacher at the school. Seems harmless enough as it would be considered consensual among adults. However, “that teacher says Miller asked her to remove the memory card from his band room so police couldn’t find it. Stored on that memory card are photos Miller allegedly took of him raping his victims”.
According to court papers, four victims, all between the ages of 14 and 16, claim Miller touched their buttocks in a private room at school, and one of those victims said she twice had sex with Miller in the uniform room of the school’s band room.
“Our job is to protect children,” investigator Vinny Mintus said. “Anybody that goes out to violate children or have sexual relations, we will go after you. We will prosecute you.”

Miller was jailed last month on charges of having sex with one student and fondling others.
On Thursday, he was slammed with a dozen more charges, including rape, after additional victims came forward, tearing down a small empire the charismatic Miller had built for himself at the Palm Beach Gardens school.
It was a place where, according to a school police investigative report, female teachers spoke openly about his reputation for having “threesomes” with other teachers.
Heath Miller denies any wrongdoing despite an alleged confession, which his attorney said is a mistake in the court papers.
From the most popular teacher at the school in 2007 to soon to be convicted sex offender. This case is even more troubling when you consider that Heath Miller shot and killed an armed intruder at his house Feb. 16, 2009. It was discovered that the man Miller shot was his neighbor, but Miller said he had never met the man before that night. So he says. Now that Miller has been caught in this web of receipt and sex with minors, could that incident at his home been something different that just a break in?
This case just got a bit more bizarre and troubling as Kevin Whitaker, the cousin of the accused band teacher Heath Miller has been arrested on charges of tampering with a witness. According to court papers, Whitaker called one of the 14 year old victims and told her to “wash her clothing” to get rid of any physical evidence.

Police said Whitaker used another woman’s cell phone to place the call. The woman told police she had received a voice mail from a woman saying never to call again, and she confronted Whitaker about the message.
According to the affidavit, Whitaker told the woman Miller “had gotten himself into some trouble and that he was only trying to help him out.”
So much for the claims of any wrong doing from the disgraced band teacher as why would anyone have to intimidate a witness to get rid of any evidence if nothing happened? That and the fact that prosecutors say they’ve found what appears to be photos of Miller having sex with young girls.

Taking down pigs like this as fast as possible, and recognizing the warning signs early, should be a focus schools and community leaders.
This occurred in my ‘backyard’.. just like the bring your child to work so we can stun gun them incident at Martin Correctional..
This band teacher also shot and killed a 22 yr old who was breaking into his house within the last 3 mos.. Somehow I think that may have been much more than originally thought..I hope he never sees the light of day again.

WEST PALM BEACH — Just months ago, the world knew Heath Miller as a popular band teacher who shot a home invader.
Now even that shooting is getting a second look, investigators said Monday, for any connections to a widening circle of girls and women who say Miller pressured them to have sex and then keep quiet about it.
Meanwhile, school records show that his principal turned him down for tenure at H.L. Watkins Middle last year, and prosecutors were moving to keep him in jail without bond because they say he represents a danger to the community.
“This is a case that has grown legs, to say the least,” said Palm Beach County school police Detective Vinny Mintus, the lead investigator on the case.
Days after the Palm Beach County School District Police filed more than a dozen charges against Miller alleging he had sex with one student, raped another and fondled four others, several other alleged victims have come forward to say he fondled or had sex with them, authorities said.
Miller, who earlier this year fatally shot an intruder in his Wellington home, has been in the Palm Beach County Jail since his initial arrest in April after being accused of sexual assault with a student.
After Miller was arrested, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office got tips that the home-invasion shooting was related to the sex assault allegations. Investigators have not connected the 22-year-old man Miller shot and killed, Robert Rashard Tomlin, to any of Miller’s alleged victims…. edited

This story is what we refer to as the cockroach principle. For as many things that are on the surface, there is much more that will be uncovered.
The chances that there are more than a handful of girls he had sex with is great. Wonder when he began his sexual assaults?
Also, how does the intruder he killed play into all of this? Is there a connection.

The home invader was just that, a home invading punk complete with a long record. No connection to the band director and just used the local address for his mail.
Got what he deserved.
As a side note the band director suffers post traumatic disorder from the shooting.
