D-I-V-O-R-C-E … 8 Year Old Saudi Girl Granted Divorce with 50 Year Old Husband … It was a Match made in Saudi Arabia

D-I-V-O-R-C-E … Irreconcilable Differences with BABY BRIDES

An 8 year old Saudi girl has finally been allowed to divorce her 50 year old husband. The 8 year old’s father had arranged the marriage in exchange for money to pay off a debt. Imagine having to make such a comment in the United States that a judge was “allowing” an 8 year old girl to divorce a 50 year old man? Imagine a place where it was acceptable for 10 year old to marry.

The girl was allowed to divorce the 50-year-old man who she married in August after an out-of-court settlement had been reached in the case, said her lawyer, Abdulla al-Jeteli. The exact date of the divorce was not immediately known.

A court in the central Oneiza region previously rejected a request by the girl’s mother for a divorce and ruled that the girl would have to wait until she reached puberty to file a petition then.

There are no laws in Saudi Arabia defining the minimum age for marriage. Though a woman’s consent is legally required, some marriage officials don’t seek it.

Although no actual Saudi Arabia law was broken as there are no laws that define the minimum age for marriage, it is obvious that this practice called child marriage a “clear and unacceptable” violation of human rights. Child marriage, one might as well call it legalized and sanctions child rape. Selling one’s daughter for money under the misguided belief that belief that this type of marriage will protect them from illicit relationships. PROTECT!!! What is an illicit relationship but when an 8 year old girl is forced to be with a 50 year old man.

Wajeha Al-Huaider, founder of the Group for Women’s Rights in Saudi Arabia said “This is a good step and I think the man did it because he was in a lot of pressure from everyone,”

I wonder if the dad still owes the debt now that the marriage (child rape agreement) has been voided? What a pleasant thought, state and religious sponsored pedophilia..

Read about another 8 year old Yemen girl who had asked for a divorce from her 30 year old husband on the grounds of sexual and domestic abuse. Wouldn’t it all be sexual abuse?

Thats funny because you complain that Obama meets with Chavez and Ortega, yet no big deal that we have been buddy buddy with this disgusting terror state that marries children.Last time I checked neither Nicaragua or Venezuela allowed this.

#5 Jason … do you actually read SM?

No where has it ever been said that we like a relationship with a terrorist Muslin country like SA where madrases are OK.

I guess you missed the bowing to the Saudi king posts as well.

However, OBAMA CHANGE means cozying up to dictators.

      #10 – Born here or imported? I guess it doesn’t matter. Those who have lived a priveleged life in this country, and take their self-expression for granted, can bleat out immature nonsense like this;

“HAHAHA! This is the funniest thing I’ve seen all day! Stupid people losing their s**t over nothing, it’s great! Look at them all gathered outside going :Ohmigod!” like something’s about to happen, it’s just hilarious! Obama may not have been on the plane, or even ordered this flyby, but he should still get full credit for trolling NYC.”

Better to write this tripe in the cowardly atmosphere of cyberspace, instead of approaching a survivor of 9/11 and saying it to their face. Whereupon, I’m sure you’d get your melon thumped. And then thumped. And thumped some more. Have nice day brave boy.

      HaHa

The truth hurts right?I was born in Saipan but grew up here in Guam.

fact of the matter is, that we Americans are a paranoid bunch.Just look at this swine flu hysteria/A plane flies over the city, obviously escorted by a f-16 and these idiots are acting like its the armageddon -Where were they running to anyways??

i love how you say survivor of 9/11 like it was Auschwitz.Please.

      Hi, Nurterer—As usual, you ROCK ! =)

#12-Jason, go back to Guam or Siapan, and please don’t bother blogging about anything on SM’s website anymore either. Since you are not an American Citizen- got have a newsflash for you:

YOUR OPINIONS are 100% irrelevant and completely INSIGNIFICANT. While you’re at it…please stick it nicely where the sun doesn’t shine, too. How dare you come in here and attempt to talk about any truth! Just wondering, Jason== did you recieve any Education in any of our American Universities, by chance? Or-Take an American job away from any one of my fellow citizens, by chance? Buy,sell or use any of our American products or commodities for your survival, by chance? Collect one penny of any aid or any other benefit derived from the American Government or Citizens you so seem to despise? Jealousy and hatred are not wise character traits Jason, so deal with it, deal with us..then bounce!

Have a nice life filled with sorrow, anger and resentment, Jason. It will continue to be a lonely one for you.

      You are a very (edit)
Guam is part of the United States.Saipan is part of the United States.Anybody born here is an American citizen at birth. You are probably too stupid or ignorant to know that because you never left your trailer park in west virginia or whatever backwoods place you are from…

“got have a newsflash for you”

it sounds like you are not from the united states because you can not write english properly.

I went to the University of Hawaii by the way.I am sure Hawaii is not a state either in your fried brain.

Unfortunately I am one of your “fellow citizens”So I have just as much of a right to live and work in the States as you do.

I have a wife and 2 beautiful daughters and a great job that I have been with for 4 years.Do not lecture me on what I can and can not say.If I want to come here and express my opinion then I will. This is not your blog only. Its a forum to share thoughts and that is what I will continue to do.

You have always been one of the more ignorant posters on here and I really get a kick out of you making a complete fool out of yourself, so please…continue.Laughter is healthy.

Red, would be nice to hear you say that to the rightwingers as well.

they do the most name calling and hating here.
      _____
SM: did you just name call me by calling me a right-winger? ;)

Let’s get one thing straight, generally no one should name call; however, the day that you get MyDD and Daily Kos to stop name calling, we shall do the same with bed wetting liberals.

Know the tenor of the site that you are on and trust me, you and other Dems are alloted a lot more liberties than I am on a Lib sight.

that Daily Kos isn’t my style

for some strange reason I am more at ease with the rightwing lunnies then with the leftwinglunnies

no Red, wasn’t name calling….I was implying it ;p

btw. did you check out the Dutch guy who assaulted the Qday parade in Apeldoorn.

typical Dutch terrorist; trying to attack a bus with a Swift

I was partying in Amsterdam when we heared about it, fort. for me I was already wasted, but it did cost my an extra bottle of Bourbon
