CNN in Third Place in Prime Time Ratings Behind MSNBC, How the Mighty have Fallen

OUCH!!!

My how the mighty CNN has fallen. CNN was once the benchmark of all cable prime CNNnews stations and now finds itself in third place.  Behind even MSNBC in the prime time cable ratings, that’s going to leave a mark. CNN might think that they are the “Most Trusted Name in News,” it’s just that no one watches them.

CNN is poised to finish March third in the prime-time weeknight ratings behind Fox News Channel and MSNBC, the first time this has ever happened for the channel that pioneered the cable news genre nearly three decades ago.

CNN says its overall business is healthy and it is not straying from its straight news path. But it is suffering more audience erosion than its rivals since the peak days of the presidential election, further proof that the opinionated prime-time shows on Fox and MSNBC have greater audience loyalty.

Whether it be MSNBC or CNN, both trail badly in prime time ratings behind the Fox News as Fox boasts having the top 6 prime time cable news shows. How impressive is Fox News in the ratings? Look at where Glen Beck has risen to after having been on Fox for such a short period of time as compared to his previous CNN HLN ratings.

      Fox?

The ones that had sat on tape of Joran Van der Sloot admitting to human trafficking BEFORE his arrest in Bangkok. What a crock! That tape was probably set somewhere on a dusty old shelf until Joran’s arrest… and, then, they want to make it ‘Prime Time News’. Shame on you, Foxy lady! What’s wrong, Miss Professor of Law, wanna be?

      Don’t tell me…

You don’t believe in the Boogey Man?

I, for one, respectfully holler, “FOUL”

      The Search For Natalee Continues

      Published: March 27, 2009

The search for Natalee Holloway continues. Aruba journalist tells us prosecutor Hans Mos requested crews drain a retention pond, near the hotel where Natalee Holloway stayed on the island.

A witness claimed suspect Joran Van Der Sloot was also seen near the pond the night Holloway disappeared in May of 2005. Private investigator Fred Golba and a team of volunteers worked to get the water pumped out of the pond. Now they searching its floor inch by inch. Although the team is trained and dedicated, locals are not sure this search will give the family closure they’ve been looking for.

“It is very likely he won’t find anything but the father knows that someone honestly believes that they saw someone walking through the pond at 4 a.m. and this man passed two lie detector tests,“ said Julia Renfro of the Aruba Daily.

No word on how much this search cost. Natalee’s father, Dave Holloway is paying for it. Meanwhile people at Texas Equisearch plan on launching another search very soon.

      .

Not to rant on and on…

      But, Julia Renfro?

      Give me a break!

      8)

There’s your answer, Waterboy. It’s the same pond they searched before… does something about this make you sick? I can only imagine how Klaas feels about this… and would, probably, agree with her.

      MSNBC?

      Not hardly…

This is no surprise to me. I love fox news, and the only time I watch CNN is once a week to catch up on Nancy Grace. GO FOX NEWS!

    5. rightknight on March 28th, 2009 3:36 pm

No spin, no lies, no Socialist agenda/talking points,
no America bashing, no sleaze and personal destruction,
and, and,…. No wonder the folks gather to watch
THE network they feel they can trust that respects traditional
      values.

They get audiences the old fashioned way; they earn them.

      Hi Ho, the Fox!

Look at the bright side Cooper…

You beat Gary Gnu and the Ga-News on PBS!

It’s a shame actually…with the exception of the insufferable Lou Dobbs and Nancy Grace, CNN is an exercise in nobility compared to the shameless partisanship on Fox and MSNBC.

    8. katablog on March 28th, 2009 5:15 pm

Fox News is certainly not perfect. They miss stories all the time. That being said, they are the most honest, least in the tank and at least have dissenters in some of their talk shows. I’d like to see Obie try that but he’s to busy bashing conservatives to try anything “different”.

Oops – getting “error establishing a database connection”.

    9. Maggie on March 28th, 2009 5:25 pm

I don’t watch cnn..cept for once and awhile I watch Nancy Grace.. couple times a month. Don’t watch Keith Olberman either..ugh

    15. nurturer on March 29th, 2009 10:39 am

      CNN = Communist News Network

    16. nurturer on March 29th, 2009 10:41 am

#7 – Hay Frank, can I get some of what you’re smokin’?

    17. Comrade Tovya on March 29th, 2009 1:14 pm

It’s simple really–Liberals don’t watch the news as much as conservatives. Liberals want to be told what to believe, not listen and discuss it.

That’s why conservative media is the king of cable, radio, and virtually every other medium.

Conservatives want to hear every detail of every issue–we want to be informed, and discuss such things.

Liberals are bleeding heart fools who want their masters to tell them what the truth is so that they can repeat it.

They prefer simple phrases like, “Change”, and “Tax the rich, they have too much money anyway”. They don’t need to know why, but the words sound good to them, making it worthy of repeating.

      That’s the truth.

    18. caesu on March 29th, 2009 2:14 pm

many watch FOX news just for entertainment.
Hannity, O’Reilly they are a total joke.

and this new Glenn Beck guy is even more hilarious.
      ‘we surround them’. so funny.

    19. nurturer on March 29th, 2009 2:58 pm

#18 – I watch Fox for the hot chicks.

    20. Carpe on March 29th, 2009 4:06 pm

They consistently come in at #1, 2, and 3.

It must be a great joke a lot of people enjoy!

Pisses a liberal off, don’t it?

      Glenn has nice sneakers.

    21. Susan on March 29th, 2009 5:06 pm

      It’s all Nancy “Dis”grace’s fault…

    22. Brenda in Virginia on March 30th, 2009 8:52 am

Eric, you could not be more correct. Anyone with an IQ of 50 or less WILL view Fox news as a joke rather than the fantastic news source it is.

Oops Eric…your low IQ was just revealed to us all!

    23. Brenda in Virginia on March 30th, 2009 8:56 am

Free Republic is great too…I’ve linked back to SM to them before.

Glen Beck is great! I remember him from my younger days in Tampa when he was a local hero talk radio guy. He spearheaded the marches for Terri Shiavo whose husband successfully (sadly) won the battle to let her die by no water or food since she was in a supposed vegetative state. Yet, she would respond to her family who snuck in a way to video tape her smiling and her eyes following a balloon. What was her husband MIke’s response? He banned her family from seeing her even up to the point of her death.

Glen was willing to cover this extensively, so anyone saying anything against him…I have to suppose you’re on the side of Mike Shiavo who prefers to kill those holding him back from his “life” ( and live-in gf who also wanted Terri gone so they could collect the life insurance, which they did)

    24. Maryann on March 30th, 2009 1:55 pm

Ahhh, now I know why our country is so F***** up!

      More people watch Faux News.

Glad I finally figured this out, I can sleep at night now.

    25. penny pollock on April 14th, 2009 5:53 pm

msnbc is an embarassment. No wonder it is so highly thought of by Europeans and countries that have nothing but ill will towards the US.
