Why do I think that this is just the tip of the corrupt iceberg and there are many more legs to this story. Now it only depends on whether the media will actually do their job.

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich arrested on federal charges

Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff, John Harris, were arrested Tuesday by FBI agents for what U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald called a “staggering” level of corruption involving pay-to-play politics in Illinois’ top office.

Who knew that senate seats were available to to purchased on Ebay?  Illinois Governor Rod R. Blagojevich tries to sell Barack Obama’s senate seat to the person that would benefit him the most. Blago also tried to silence the critical media.

Governor Accused in Scheme to Sell Obama’s Senate Seat

In recorded conversations with advisers, the governor, Rod R. Blagojevich, seemed alternately boastful, flip and spiteful about the Senate choice, which he crassly likened at one point to that of a sports agent shopping around a free agent for the steepest price, a federal affidavit showed. At times, he even weighed aloud appointing himself to the job, the prosecutors said.

“I’ve got this thing,” Mr. Blagojevich said on one recording, according to the affidavit, “and it’s [expletive] golden. And I’m just not giving it up for [expletive] nothing. I’m not going to do it. And I can always use it. I can parachute me there.”

Obama Says He Had No Contact With Blagojevich on Senate Seat … hmm

Blagojevich Arrest Puts Obama Ties in the Spotlight

The case will keep the public spotlight on some episodes Obama thought he had put behind him, including his ties to Antoin Rezko, a convicted Chicago real-estate developer who was accused in a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit Tuesday of scheming with Blagojevich. Rezko raised campaign funds for both men, and was one of Obama’s earliest supporters as he was climbing the political ladder in Illinois.

The matter also highlights ties between the disgraced Democratic governor and some members of Obama’s inner circle. His top campaign strategist, David Axelrod — who will move to the White House for a senior adviser’s job — lists Blagojevich on his firm’s Web site as one of his clients, when the politician was a candidate for Congress.

And because Blagojevich stands accused of trying to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the president-elect, Obama’s name will be forever linked to the case, even though he isn’t accused of wrongdoing.

What is the real question that everyone wants to know … Questions Arise About the Obama/Blagojevich Relationship.

“Obviously like the rest of the people of Illinois I am saddened and sobered by the news that came out of the US attorney’s office today,” said President-elect Obama this afternoon in Chicago, speaking of the criminal complaint against Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich for corruption. “But as this is a ongoing investigation involving the governor I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to comment on the issue at this time.”

Asked what contact he’d had with the governor’s office about his replacement in the Senate, President-elect Obama today said “I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening.”

But on November 23, 2008, his senior adviser David Axelrod appeared on Fox News Chicago and said something quite different.

While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a “kingmaker,” Axelrod said, “I know he’s talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them.”

looks like the dumbocrats are starting their own criminal regime. for the next four years we will see political crime from the democrats never witnessed before by the American people.
if obama is allowed to serve, there will be total anarchy within his term.

    2. Miss-Underestimated on December 10th, 2008 8:21 am

I wonder who had the million to but the seat?
#5 who do you think it is?

    3. flippy on December 10th, 2008 8:43 am

This is NOT an isolated incident with Blagojevich. He was long-suspected of major corruption, and there will be more. Blagojevich alienated himself long ago from “the good guys”, a relative term in Illinois politics.

The governers office in Illinois has some sort of Harry Potter “Professor of the Dark Arts” curse on it…seems like nobody can leave office unless in handcuffs.

    4. Richard on December 10th, 2008 9:02 am

Illinois calls itself the ‘land of Lincoln.’

One tends to think that Old Abe would disavow a connection.

Corruption in Chigago? Say it aint so Joe!

    6. Rusty Bridges on December 10th, 2008 10:19 am

I was always troubled with Obama paying for Clintons campaign dept if she backed him. That always seemed over the boarderline for me. But I guess its just another day at the office for politicians to buy favors.

    7. Michelle on December 10th, 2008 10:23 am

Nah! Can’t be true. That’s where President-Elect Barack Obama is from. Wait! What? Oh but I’m sure Mr. Obama he didn’t know the man personally or have any idea there was any kind of corruption in the state of Illinois.

    8. Miss-Underestimated on December 10th, 2008 10:29 am

      3. Flippy, not isolated at all
Why was the ethics bill not passed in Illinois? The bill preventing Blago to raise money from state contractors. Wheww, they don’t call our city the windy city for the weather, its for the wind coming out of the mouths of the politicans.

Keep your ears open for the words from Emil Jones, Jesse Jackson Jr, and Mayor Daley.

This is NOT an isolated incident with Blagojevich

The saddest thing in America is that this is not an isolated incident in government period. Money talks.

And, remember who had no compunction about raising money while turning off all checks and balances on the Internet. Does anyone really believe that Obama grew up in Illinois politics without playing with these “boys”? Could any politician?

We know about Louisiana, Illinois and New Jersey. I’m sure these are only the tip of the iceberg in the American people being sold out by politicians.

All these bailouts with taxpayer money: sell outs and paybacks.

    10. Miss-Underestimated on December 10th, 2008 11:05 am

Yep ABC news saying Jesse Jackson Jr is #5.

    11. arubatraveladvisory on December 10th, 2008 11:56 am

Sounds like Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. was the person who offered the $1m bribe (campaign contribution) to be named to the Senate seat.

This looks like it is going to be fun as more Chicago politicians get sucked down on this one.

    12. Rusty Bridges on December 10th, 2008 11:58 am

#9 “All these bailouts with taxpayer money: sell outs and paybacks.”

      Exactly!

When did our government become not “for the people” and how do we get it back?

Perhaps he can have a nice cell near O.J. and Casey..they all have so much in common to talk (make that lie) about…

almost all democRATS are dirty and nasty. civil war will arise again someday. count on it. it’s like anything goes with democrats. some republicans are trash too but most are closet democrats. the news media’s president, is in on this crap too. just wait and see.

    18. Michelle on December 10th, 2008 7:01 pm

      Darrell

I agree with you but it seems that President-Elect Obama has managed to slip through their fingers. The media does not & will not report anything negative about their boy. Come on, anybody who isn’t drinking the Obama kool-aide can see that he is a shyster with the company he keeps. You can’t tell me that after being around all these crooks in Chicago that his hands are not dirty. I don’t buy it for a second. He may have the majority of the public fooled but not all of us are that gullible.

    19. Susan on December 10th, 2008 9:58 pm

Osama bin Laden Barack SADDAM HUSSEIN Obama is a freaking loser! He pals around with a racist – hate mongering preacher, terrorists, crooks, and dirty politicians!

I wonder how much Obama paid the Governor of Illinois for his Senate seat? Supposedly Obama had no opposition when he ran for Senator.

The next four years ain’t gonna be purty folks, so hold on to yer hats :-(

    20. Richard on December 10th, 2008 10:00 pm

RustyBridges (#12) … I think that the best thing we can do is to limit the size and power of government. It’s the only possible solution that I can come up with.

You can bet that the liberals will be shying away from anything that will implicate both Obama and Jesse Jackson’s offspring. (In all fairness, ONE comment of the governor was saying that the Obama people wouldn’t play ball … whether OTHER comments of a different nature have been suppressed is beyond my knowledge.)

“looks like the dumbocrats are STARTING their own criminal regime. for the next four years we will see political crime from the democrats NEVER WITNESSED BEFORE by the American people…”

…apparently super dave not only does not live within 1500 milews of Chicago, he never bothered to read newspapers as Chicago has a political history of this type goin’ back pert near 100 years. silly boy/

    22. Kay Zee Es on December 10th, 2008 10:48 pm

      Susan, you are hilarious!

    23. super dave on December 11th, 2008 11:29 am

Come on Barry, tell us the truth, you know he’s your buddy. tryin to get jessie jr. on your side by taking money.
blog is going to punk you out as soon as he has to answer questions in court.

    24. Michelle on December 11th, 2008 11:45 am

I don’t find anything comical about Susan’s post. Sounds pretty accurate to me.

    25. Miss-Underestimated on December 11th, 2008 1:03 pm

I thought this over, see if anyone agrees. The word out is Blago is a sociopath, ok so what about his foul mouthed wife? Does the IL government do mandantory drug testing? A pic of Patti Blago on AOL, looked like the woman was strung out. Hey Rahm, can you get right on it?

“All these bailouts with taxpayer money: sell outs and paybacks.”

      Exactly!

When did our government become not “for the people” and how do we get it back?

      #12 Rusty—- My Question is:

CAN we even GET it back?

Money does talk and is always the common denominator and motivator. IMO, as far as the current state of affairs for our Government go ….the phrase FUBAR comes to mind….

      =(

    27. ANewGirl on December 11th, 2008 2:51 pm

#7- Michelle….LOL now that was funny to me.

#19-Susan’s post is also amusing (while I wouldn’t go so far as to call Obama a loser—one of the adjectives I would chose is ‘dangerous’) everything else in this post is accurate.

    28. Rusty Bridges on December 11th, 2008 3:35 pm

I like how Axlerod said back in late Nov. that PPE Obama was working with the good gov. about his repalcements. Now Axlerod claims he was mistaken about that. How convenient.
