The mother and brother, Darnell Donerson & Jason Hudson, of Oscar Award winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson have been found murdered in their Chicago home. Police are saying that the incident is a result of domestic violence.
Detectives said the double murder was a ‘domestic incident’ that had got horribly out of control.
A statement from her representative Lisa Kasteler said: ‘We can confirm that there is an ongoing investigation concerning the deaths of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, and her brother, Jason Hudson.
‘No further comment will be made and the family has asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.’
Julian King still missing
An AMBER ALERT was issued for missing 7 year old Julian King, the nephew of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson.
UPDATE I: William Balfour in custody,Suspect in the death of Darnell Donerson & Jason Hudson. William Balfour is the estranged husband of Hudson’s sister.

Balfour has been married to another Donerson daughter, Julia Hudson, for about two years. They had lived together in the Yale Avenue home. But the couple has been having problems, were separated and were planning to divorce, family members said.
Julian is Julia Hudson’s son. Balfour is his step-father. The boy was not with Balfour when police arrested him Friday night, leading to the continued search.

William Balfour Named as Suspect in Hudson Family Murders
Balfour has been named a suspect in the double murder of Darnell Donerson & Jason Hudson; however, he has not admitted guilt. Balfour has a past criminal record and had spent seven years in jail for attempted murder.
So far, William Balfour has not said anything or admitted any guilt, but the police are still looking for any clues. The situation is so serious, even William Balfour’s MySpace page can be analyzed for any clues or hints.
Although he has not been charged, William Balfour has been taken in as a suspect in the killings and abduction. A number of other people are in custody, but Balfour’s connections to the family and past troubles with the law have made him a more noteworthy suspect.
Balfour had spent seven years in jail for attempted murder, and was married to Hudson’s sister Julia. It is not clear what the nature of their relationship was exactly before yesterday, but Balfour promoted his marriage on his MySpace page.
UPDATE II: Jennifer Hudson offers 100K reward for missing Nepew Julian King
Jennifer Hudson and her family offered a $100,000 reward Sunday for the safe return of her missing nephew, as investigators looked for forensic evidence near the home where her mother and brother were found shot to death.

This case has gotten a lot of coverage locally. Here’s a link to some news reports if anyone is interested. It includes an interview with some neighbors and William Balfour’s mother.

I and others I’ve talked to had trouble figuring out who’s who in this case, and this is what was reported. Jennifer’s mother and brother were killed. Jennifer’s sister, Julia, found them and reported her son, Julian King, missing. Julian is the son of Julia’s former husband. Julia is currently married to William Balfour, but they are separated.
Shown in one of the videos at the link above is someone claiming that Balfour had threated to harm the boy if Julia didn’t stop “playing” with him. Balfour was in prison for 7 years for carjacking and attempted murder.
I hope this question doesn’t rub anyone the wrong way. I have no ill will towards Jennifer Hudson or any member of her family, and hope that the missing nephew is found safe, quickly.
That said ….
After Natalee Holloway went missing in Aruba, there was comment that her publicity represented a kind of ‘double standard’; i.e., missing white girls became cause celebres in the media, while missing members of minority groups were ignored.
But it seems that these murders and the missing nephew of a Hollywood performer are getting all sorts of media publicity. Well, is there a ‘double standard’ at work here … what about the non-Hollywood types who get no attention?
Is anyone going to complain about this? Or do we accept that Hollywood types deserve publicity?
The answer is, of course, that what draws attention is the circumstances of the case … no matter WHO is involved. And in Natalee’s case, there is a clear and obvious cover-up, hence the legitimate public interest.
I just heard that the FBI has been called in. In spite of Amber alerts, there’s no sign of the little boy as of yet. My heart goes out to this family. Julia clearly has not made great decisions in her choice of spouses, but I pray that this little boy is found alive and well and the family can heal after this tragedy.
Police got a tip last night, found the white SUV that ws part of the Amber Alert and sadly, the body of 7 year old Julian King was in the SUV.
It has NOT yet been confirmed that it’s the body of Julian King, but they have confirmed it was a body of a child. The police have just removed the SUV and are working the crime scene. Lots of people have dropped off stuffed animals at the scene and it was reported there were school children standing behind the tape crying. Apparently this car was sitting there all weekend on Chicago’s west side before someone realized it was the SUV police were looking for and called police around 6:00 a.m. this morning.
Why do women get themselves mixed up with these murders? This guy more than likely has killed three people, one of them being a child for godsakes. Women, why do you hook up with loosers?
Apparently now it has been confirmed that the boy, 7, was found in the SUV … shot in the back of the head.
Comment would be superfluous. No animal would do this to another animal … only we, “made in God’s image” (so the saying goes), would do it.
