SNL, Tina Fey & Amy Poehler Take Jabs at Sarah Palin & Hillary Clinton … Obama Barbs No Where to be Found

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler take their pokes at Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton

Of course it was funny, but how far in the tank is SNL for Obama? SNL and the lack of pretense of an actor poking fun at Obama show America one of the very reasons why people cannot vote for Obama. Just as in the case with John Kerry, the candidate is stiff, rigid and not real. If one cannot laugh at themselves, who can they laugh at? What it does show is the continued media bias.

What a shocker, Saturday Night Live makes Sarah Palin fair game and to some extent Hillary Clinton; however, the Chosen One Barack Obama manages to escape the roast and ridicule.

During the skit Amy Poehler, aka Hillary Clinton, tell the press “to grow a pair and if you can’t I will lend you mine” in an obvious cry for the liberal MSM to go after Palin and question her. Hey Amy and the rest of the libs at SNL, have you been watching? What do you think the MSM has been doing in an all out vicious and unprecedented manner. I guess Amy Poehler, in her liberal bias missed these media articles:

The attack dogs have been out in force since Sarah Palin was announced in an attempt to destroy her. Barack Obama has even made an obvious dig at Palin with his lipsticking a pig comment.

So the question to SNL is why can’t they seem to find it in themselves to poke fun at Barack Obama? It is not as if SNL did not do skits that were not flattering to Democratic Presidential hopefuls like Al Gore and John Kerry. SNL has certainly had their fun with Bill and Hillary Clinton. Darrell Hammond and the late Phil Hartman were and still are the best depictions of Bill Clinton. Also, Hammond’s “lock box” skit of Al Gore is legendary.

So why no Obama? Do not tell us that Obama has not provided the SNL writers with material. Of course he has. Why is it that The Chosen One appears live vs. having someone imitate him? SNL had no problem nailing Hillary Clinton last Halloween.

If SNL can spoof McCain for his age, why can’t they pike fun at Obama in the same manner wearing a diaper and a baby rattle? If SNL can attack Palin for her inexperience at being a VP, at the very least one would think that they could do the same for Obama’s lack of experience to be President. Isn’t that the fairness doctrine that the Democrats have been railing about? Of course Sarah Palin should be asked questions; however, Obama should be asked the very same ones in the very same manner and tone.

UPDATE I: As The Corner states the best line of the SNL skit was Hillary saying, “I didn’t want a woman to be president. I wanted to be president.” It was actually a toss up as to who SNL was slamming more … in many respects it seemed as if it was Hillary.

UPDATE II: Sure Palin may have laghed at the skit; however, the Washington Monthly misspoke when it said the following: It’s a sketch comedy show. It mocks everyone, exaggerating shortcomings and creating caricatures. That’s the point. Ph contraire, SNL does not mock everyone. It does not mock The Chosen One, Barack Obama.

they made fun of Obama and Hillary in the previous season.
Palin was all in the news for the last few weeks, so it is obvious they went after her in the first SNL episode.

not another reason to whine and cry i think.

      Yep,

Add Saturday night live to those that are ‘in the tank’ for Obama.

Their weekend update session was equally as blatant with constant rips on Palin, Alaska, etc. while nothing about the honorable Senator from Illinois or his VP selection.

…and people wonder why MadTV is kicking their butts! Here is a great one from MadTVs season opener last Saturday night…now this is real comedy (SNL could take some lessons from these guys!):

Well, giggle, giggle, giggle. America has no other problems to contend with, so we can all gather around the (aptly named) idiot box (that’s what we used to call it, anyway) and watch some nonsense.

And this comment seems beyond the pale: During the skit Amy Poehler, aka Hillary Clinton, tell the press “to grow a pair and if you can’t I will lend you mine”.

Well, guess what, Hollywood moguls? Today there’s news that investment bank Lehman Bros. is filing for bankruptcy protection after the Fed tried to find someone to buy it this weekend, and nobody wanted to touch it.

Meanwhile, Bank of America is buying out Merrill Lynch for some $50 billion. The company that once was seen as THE Wall Street investment firm will no longer exist on its own?

And big insurance company AIG (with which I have my car insurance) is seeking an emergency $40 billion loan from … you guessed it … the Fed.

Hey, maybe I can borrow a billion or so myself, since it’s now the Fed’s job to hand out money to everyone who troubles to ask.

In other words … we are facing some serious business here. But that’s okay, America, turn on the TV and laugh.

The joke, unfortunately, is on us.

The price of oil is sliding today … one good thing.

Historically they have gone after whoever was popular at the moment. I would say that, as a theme, they have been more pro-Hillary than pro-anyoneElse.

      SUCH HYPOCRITES!

Two women who know FIRST HAND the struggles that women face to be taken seriously,

and there they are making fun of Palin AND Clinton.

P.S. Emporer Obama was invited to be on the inaugural epidose of the new season – but declined due to Hurricane Ike… What a guy!

Did you hear the response Sarah gave for the Tina Fey skit? Was priceless…she said she thought the skit was funny, but what is funnier is that she dressed as Tina Fey once for Halloween! Too funny since they look so much alike. Love Sarah’s sense of humor.

You have to admit she is kind of like the SNL church lady. I for one have always enjoyed political satire, although one could question the timing of this skit, coming weeks before an election.

    8. Maggie on September 15th, 2008 5:23 pm

I loved the Church Lady.. Well isn’t that special? loved Chris Farley doing the motivational speaker.. Used to like to watch Darrell Hammond do Clinton… He was good..

This, however, to me was more like a political ad. Can’t get the real Hillary much after all the insults, so has to use a fake one..? You know behind the scenes the Clintons are sooooo upset.

Was funny to see Obama’s manager say McCain was running the sleaziest campaign. The campaign Obama run against Hillary was the sleaziest.

Political incorrectness is what this country lacks on BOTH sides of the proverbial spectrum.

Dry your eyes and laugh, unless your eyes are wet from laughter, that is!

What McCain should have said FIRST at Sturgis…
      DRILL, BABY, DRILL!!!

it’s hard to find something funny about an empty suit. i guess they could have a skit about his flip/flopping, lying, and denying he lied.

The big difference between MadTV and SNL, is you can see how painfully in the acting and the scripting the SNL folks are in the tank for Obama.

MadTV was hillarious….ripping on McCain and Obama (they had a dance contest and man could Barry and Michelle kick butt!). They equally made fun of both candidates.

      SNL would not touch Obama.

I don’t see where Palin was dissed any more than Hillary was…in fact, I took it all in good fun. For the record, I believe Tina Fey is a closet Republican. She’s too smart to be a Democrat.
