THIS IS NOT A CAMPAIGN ISSUE … Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol 5 Months Pregnant … LEFTY Vultures Attack

Since when are candidates children not off limits? When they are the children of Republicans.

It did not take long for the political sleaze merchants on the LEFT to go after a candidates family member. Rumors swirled on the LEFTY blogs regarding Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin’s 17 year old daughter. Once again we take notice as to why so many good people never concern themselves with politics to shelter their families from unwarranted vicious attacks and rumors. The process is out of control as there is nothing off limits anymore.

Palin_Family

Why is it that Republican family members (children) are not off limits during political campaigns?

Even Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama tells the media to back off and that certain things are off limits. Think the MSM would ever run like this if it were a Democrat’s kid? The effect, however, may be a backlash and simpathy for McCain and Palin as this is especially hideous treatment of women.

“I have said before and I will repeat again: People’s families are off limits,” Obama said. And people’s children are especially off-limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin’s performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics.”

What might have been potential news is if a pro-life candidates 17 year old daughter aborted the pregnancy. Instead she is having the baby and getting married. Things happen in life and families deal with them in the best responsible way they can. If anything, the Palin family’s situation probably resonates with many average, hard working American families and the situations they face every day. How unfortunate though that the MSM seizes this opportunity to make political hay for Democrats.

Bristol Palin made the decision on her own to keep the baby, the aides said.

The Palins, in a statement released by the McCain campaign, said Bristol “came to us with news that we as parents knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned” and that their daughter “has our unconditional love and support.”

“We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates,” their statement said.

Palin_daughters

REMINDER TO THE LEFT … These children are not part of the political process and are off limits.

According to reports from the Daily News, Bristol Palin’s pregnancy was an open secret where they lived. So why the intrigue and the gotcha politics? Because Bristol has the misfortune of being the daughter of a Republican. If anyone thinks that this story would have gotten this coverage if Obama’s daughters were 17 and pregnant, i have some swamp land to sell.

This got airplay because the news planned on 36+ hours of hurricane converage, and that turned out to be mostly non-newsworthy. They had time to fill.

I totally agree that the issue should have been left uncovered, and that it, if anything, shows that she walks the walk.

they should really back off the family, just like Obama said.

and focus on the lack of judgement of McCain.

maybe McCain gets a Palin-bump in the polls.
      although it seems unlike now.

but is she ready to be heartbeat away from a 72 year old president?

no need to compare her with Obama.

just imagine McCain defeating Obama, and her being VP with such a limited amount of foreign affairs and national security experience.

during a War on Terror, Russia threatening neighbours, Iran, N-Korea – to name a few issues.

if McCain only uses her to pander the conservative vote and the female vote, he is NOT putting the country first.

Funny, mainstream media talks about this, but what about the fact Obama himself was conceived out of wedlock to a woman who then left him to be raised by her parents! Hmmm…

    4. yoyo muffintop on September 2nd, 2008 4:37 pm

Listen to the republicans whine like a bunch of babies. Whahhhhhhhhhhhh.

Palin’s on the ticket because of her hard core religious beliefs which are #1 abstinence and #2 being against any and all abortion rights (even in the case of rape/incest).
If you’re platform is about sex and babies and your underage child gets pregnant out of wedlock then it is fair game. What’s unfortunate, according to the baby’s father’s myspace page, are the 2 kids are being forced into marriage because of her mother’s political ambitions.

I love how the republicans are now crying up a storm – what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

“If anyone thinks that this story would have gotten this coverage if Obama’s daughters were 17 and pregnant, i have some swamp land to sell.”
That the biggest load of crap I’ve seen in a while. The republicans would have went nuts. You can try and sell it, but no one’s buying it.

Sarah Palin’s desire is to put conservative moral values into government policies. To suggest that the american people have no right to question how she governs her own family is laughable.

Sarah Palin put her child out their for public scrutiny by accepting McCain’s offer knowing her 17yr old underage daughter was pregnant.
She saw how the Republicans have ripped apart every single thing about Obama and his family for almost a year (especially the blogs) – what did she think was going to happen?

Republicans just don’t get it – it’s not necessarily about Bristol, it’s about the Ultra-Conservative Mother’s role as a Mother. Which is a complete failure.

How’s Sarah Palin’s abstinence only program in her own household going?

oh, and I just noticed this: “The effect, however, may be a backlash and simpathy for McCain and Palin as this is especially hideous treatment of women.”
The sexist card – how utterly pathetic!!!!

Candidates family members should be off limits but what is pertinent here is Family VALUES as that affects everybody, particulary ironic since Republicans run of Family Values… I think Palin is a horrible choice as VP. A thinly veiled attempt to get the women vote. Who is she? A new Governor. Big deal. And I don’t believe for a New York Second that McCain knew about this debacle in advance. Also, if anybody thinks that if this was in Obamas court and that McCain wouldn’t put it in the worst possible light, (As he’s been doing all along) I have some Florida swampland to sell you.

    6. yoyo muffintop on September 2nd, 2008 5:20 pm

      Love this.

Here’s the new Evangelical Rightwing policy now on unwanted/out of wedlock pregnancies: it’s ok to have premarital sex and get pregnant as long as you keep the baby.

Did they rewrite that Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning? My guess – Sunday morning.

And #3 – Did Obama’s 18yr old college student mother try to impose abstinence only views on the rest of us, especially during a time of epidemic HIV teen rates?
Sarah Palin’s outdated views on sex education more than likely led to pregnancy for her daughter. For other kids it’s deadly.
      Nice try though.

I read this somewhere – is it unfair to wonder whether Sarah Palin has the right to haul her beautiful children into the spotlight when it makes her look like a Super Mom, then sweep them into the shadows when they make a mistake?

You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Do you actually believe I vote for someone based on whether they believe in abstinence or not? Just because Sarah Palin’s daughter is pregnant and not married doesn’t mean her mom don’t believe in abstinence.. If that’s all you have to talk about a candidate forget it. Every election we get this scare..oh they will overturn roe vs wade..no abortions, run people , vote against them.. People are worried about gas prices, the economy etc.. keeping their jobs..etc,. Even saw George Clooney’s dad on tv today calling it tabloid trash. At least like all those others..she wasn’t doing it then lying about it and hiding out. You can’t have family values and have a daughter who makes a mistake and gets pregnant at 17? I am sure there are many in the same spot in the USA who would disagree. This is all you can come up with?

Go back to the story of Greta’s husband and listen to what he says about Obama and McCain and he is a democrat.

Doesn’t bother you that Obama’s spiritual advisor and pastor, a good friend of 20 years was making all those racial comments about white people, praising Farrakhan..and then Obama claimed he wasn’t present?

As an adult Obama admitted that during high school he used marijuana, cocaine, and alcohol. Guess he has no family values either.

No, Bristol’s pregnancy has nothing to do with McCain’s VP pick. But, Sarah screwed up some where along the way pursuing her political career instead of providing the parental guidance her daughter needed.

      Go ahead, bash me!!

Greta Van Sustern’s husband? George Cloony’s dad? Really?
      Lol.

      From the L.A. Times:

Ashley Blazer Biden, of Wilmington, Del., was with a group of
“friends” on a North Side Chicago street where several bars are
located when someone else threw a bottle at an officer, police said.
When police tried to arrest that other person, Ashley blocked the
officer’s path and made intimidating statements, about who she was,
who her father was, and the like, and generally tried to block the
officer from arresting Ashley’s “friend”/”acquaintance”, the police
      officer said.

Miss Biden was later released and is scheduled for court on September
      20th.

Sen. Biden’s spokeswoman, Margaret Aitken, declined to comment,
calling it a “private, family matter.”

Guess Mr. Biden has no family values.

    12. Patti on September 2nd, 2008 10:05 pm

      Oh my gosh!

Sorry, but, that’s a stupid correlation to make. Having a friend of your dauther throwing a bottle out of a car and then her asking for mercy because her father is a Senator, is alot different than having a teen-age pregnancy in your family.

And… I agree with everyone else, this is and was a stupid choice to make; but to think that Mr. McCain is stupid is even more naive. This is not about teen-age pregnancy. He’s got a live one on the line, that’s not even kicking, that would sign on the dotted line to drill in Alaska! I’m ashamed of her and I’m disgusted with him. He and his collegues have turned this presidential race into a circus.

Some people ask if it’s wrong to pick on a mother who’s daughter is pregnant… Isn’t it MORE wrong to pick a person apart because of their religion? What about race? What about having a hard life and having to drag yourself up by your shoestrings? I remember a time when a person was respected for venturing beyond what is imaginable… and, now, we want to say, ‘He’s only a dreamer’?

A true hero, a friend of mine; was raised as an orphan in an orphanage and grew up into a man that runs and operates one of the largest fleets of planes in the world. He is both wealthy, because he worked his hardest to overcome poverty and gracious because he knows what its like to do without. I don’t ask what religion he is because it makes no difference to me… He could be an athiest as far as I know; but he knows how to love and he treats everyone he meets as if THEY are the special one.

      Try these for laughs…………..
      1. First the Leftard Moonbats were running around saying the Downs Syndrome baby was Bristol’s, not Sarahs, and they had proof!! Bristol is now 5 months pregnant, so it would be hard for her to have a 4 month old baby!! WHAT DOES THIS TELL US??
That the DemocRATS don’t know $hit about SEX or MATH!!

      2. They are also wringing their hands about….”OOH…What if McCain dies…will Palin be able to take over”?? Small worry…What if Bush and McCain were killed in a plane crash…Guess who would take over??? Right, San Fran Nan….now, that’s a problem!!!! Sheeesh!!!

    14. Patti on September 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm

      Three guesses:

      Who’s the BIGGEST vulture?

Obama, McCAIN or the American Public?

      .

      I guess in this catagory,

      McCain wins, hands down!

      .

      Hollywood…

    15. Richard on September 2nd, 2008 10:24 pm

In all the mud-slinging going on, let’s not forget the readiness of the media to jump in and put the spotlight on irrelevant things. Such as this.

    16. Richard on September 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm

Barack Obama can afford to take the ‘high road’ and deplore the media jumping all over this girl, who is not a candidate for public office … he knows the media will do the necessary screaming.

    17. Jack on September 2nd, 2008 10:54 pm

Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley was arrested at a Chicago bar 6 years ago (she was 21) for obstructing a police officer in a bottle throwing incident, locked up and bailed out! Will the Leftard Moonbats give that some ink?? Jeez…what kind of job did the Democraps do vetting Joe?? Also, Joe’s brother and son were involved in some shady financial deal…its all on the net. How about some dirty laundry on the line???Hmmmmm??

    18. Maggie on September 3rd, 2008 6:17 pm

My entire point was just because one’s kids make mistakes like these or Obama doing drugs when he was in high school doesn’t mean they have no family values. We all make mistakes as teens, it’s what we learn and take from those mistakes that count. Why should some insinuate Sarah Palin has no family values because her daughter is pregnant? It’s owning up to them and righting them. Rather funny Biden’s daughter says do you know who my father is? Sounds like a spoiled brat.
