When Will Teens Learn? STOP TEXTING WHILE DRIVING!!! 16 Year Old Kayla Preuss Died after Losing Control Car … Alcohol Involved as Well
How many teenagers must die before teens get a clue to stop texting while driving? Sadly, 16 year old Kayla Preuss died after losing control of her vehicle just after she had been texting on her cell phone moments before the accident. This sad ending to a teens life not only had a DUI but a DWT attached to it as well.
Kayla Preuss, of Highland, was driving on the Interstate 10 Freeway in Redlands when she lost control of her car and crashed. She died of head injuries.
Authorities say Preuss had been driving drunk and was speeding. But another factor may have contributed to the crash.
Phone records show Preuss was texting just before the accident. Her cell phone, which was flipped open, was found resting on the floorboard by her feet.
Do you think that Kayla’s friends learned from this tragedy? NOPE! Kayla’s mother said, “But not even Kayla’s death has curbed the driving habits of some of her friends.”
Driver killed in crash was texting
Phone records show Kayla was texting moments before the accident, and her mobile phone, which was flipped open, was found resting on the floorboard by her feet, authorities said.
About 40 text messages had been sent over a three-hour period, the last of which was sent at 2:38 a.m., moments before the crash, a coroner’s investigation found.
“I hope it makes a lot of kids think,” said Kayla’s mother, Kelly Preuss. “I don’t know how many times I had told Kayla not to text when she was driving.”
Exactly what part about actually paying attention to driving do teens not understand? For that matter there are some adults that may want to heed this warning as well. Some states have put bans on “texting while driving”. How many more teens must die before people just take the personal responsibility and respect the roads and the vehicles they drive?

I think we must think of young people texting whilst driving as some form of addiction.
Many have spent years in classrooms surreptitiously texting without getting caught by teachers and they think they can ‘get away’ with texting whilst driving.
At the same time many teens think they are being ignored if they have to wait 20 mins for a response to a text.
Sadly, driving creates the perfect storm of conditions for tragedy to occur.
In the US any alcohol in a car must be in the trunk… maybe it’s time to treat cellphones of under 21s.
Or…better yet…don’t drink, drive, speed, and text! Why does texting get the headline?
STOP TEXTING…… HOW ABOUT NOT DRIVING DRUNK!
Some teens think death cannot happen to them. It is not until it happens to good friend,Brother or sister that they see it can happen.
What we have here is Darwin…it’s good that she didn’t take innocent people with her

OMG i saw that on extreme home makeover LOL
What kind of parents let a 16 year old girl out after 2am? Drinking and texting? Obviously not a well raised kid. Sorry to say. Mine are 22 and 20 and they knew to call me if they made a mistake and could not drive. It happened. I went and picked my daughter up on her graduation night. At least she new she could call me and not have to try and sneak home risking hers or someone else’s life. The parents are to blame. Know your kids friends and use technology to track them. Thats what On-star and GPS on cell phones are for. You know where they are at every minute. Very sad.
