Obama Gaffe-o-meter … Barack Obama Claimed He is a Member of the US Senate Banking Committee

Look up in the sky … it’s a bird … no it’s a plane … no it’s Superman. No it’s just Barack Obama once again claiming to be something that he is not. Barack Obama claimed to be a member of the US. Senate Banking Committee, which he is not. Barack Obama also claims to be a lot of other things as well, but he is not. When we look to see who is actually on the US Banking Committee, Obama’s name is no where to be found.

Responding to an Israeli reporter’s question Wednesday on his commitment to protect the Jewish state, Barack Obama pointed to a bill “we passed” in the U.S. Senate Banking Committee that tightens sanctions and authorizes divestment from Iran. “My committee,” he called it. Except that he isn’t a member of the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. “Just this past week, we passed out of the out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee – which is my committee – a bill to call for divestment from Iran as way of ratcheting up the pressure to ensure that they don’t obtain a nuclear weapon,” Obama said at a press conference in Sderot, Israel. (CNN)

However, once again Barack Obama uses a lack of sleep for his error. If Obama cannot handle the rigors of campaigning to be President, how will he deal with the sleeplessness of the actual job? The Obama camp has made John McCain’s age an issue, maybe they should be more concerned with providing their candidate with an ample supply of No-Doz, Jolt and Red Bull.

In a meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu Wednesday, Obama told the former Israeli Prime Minister, “I could fall asleep now standing up,” after Netanyahu asked him how his whirlwind trip to the Middle East and Europe is going.

Stop The ACLU: The Obamamessiah has another uh-oh! moment

Yet Mr. Smooth Operator over there effortlessly lied about his involvement with the committee. Why? To boost his credentials? To try and hide his lack of experience? To make himself look more serious on the threat from Iran? Who knows? The thing is, it doesn’t matter why he did it. Either he lied, or he was mistaken. And if he was mistaken, then he still doesn’t get a pass. Do we really want a President who has no clue whatsoever what committees he serves on and what his responsibilities are?

Given the disastrous lack of oversight that we have seen in the Senate Banking Committee, leading in large part to the con artists taking control of the US mortgage market over the last few years, and the inevitable result … look for another raid on the Treasury to bail out Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae … why would anyone WANT even to admit that he or she was on the committee?

Much less to claim that one was, when one was not?

I think that a full-scale probe of the actions and inactions of the so-called “overseers” in our legislative solons who have allowed the crooks in the real estate industry to run rampant is in order.

Beginning with Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut, who never tires of declaiming against President Bush … but who receives large campaign contributions from the banking industry, and who was recently associated with getting low-cost mortgage loans.

Not that anybody in Congress would be corrupt, of course. We can’t think that for a moment.

Something has to be done about him…over there in the Middle East telling lies…projecting himself to be something he is not…is he crazy…we have 60 states, doesn’t know what city he is campaigning in, expects to be President for the next 10 yrs…the Republicans really need to expose him..

I want to know where those other ten states are located. I might want to move someday !

Obama’s an empty suit without a teleprompter. The MSM is in the tank for him so he knows it matters little what he actually says.

The short answer is that there are no good choices or even one acceptable choice for 2008.

Same reason they didn’t attack Hillary for her “We were under fire when we got off the plane” comment…same reason Edward’s “love child” isn’t being exposed.

As for the mortage bailout. Guess the fact my family struggled not to loose our home by selling a vehicle, selling a piece of property we owned…stopped going out to eat, stopped going to buy alcohol, etc means since WE were responsible and handled our debt…NOW we have to pay our hard-earned taxe$ for those who haven’t done so.

Grenated, there are a number of families hit by the news-prompted “recession” but all too many were trying to keep up with the Jones. That’s their problem! Why do the rest of us need to fix that? Like the fiasco after Katrina…help will be provided and many who do not deserve or plan to abuse this effort will be the ones to benefit. I am extremely unhappy with this plan to say the least!

lol, now we’ll have to listen to obama’s sniper fire story. or maybe he walked over to the mountains, or had the mountains walk over to him, and talked bin laden into giving up. anyway you look at it, he’s looking more and more like a pompous self-important blowhard to me every day. i wonder when we’re going to get the “change” part. everything i’ve seen so far is pure aruban politician to me. the only change i see is his stated view on anything he gets criticized for and denials that he’s changed.

Why isn’t something posted about Mcain’s definition of a surge? He has made many more gaffes than Obama but is hardly ever called on his ignorance and stupidity. An honest mistake is exactly that but clear a sign of stupidity is ok for a potential US President? Just how is intelligence not important and stupidity ok in a position so powerful in the country and the world?

I’m so with you Brenda, If I knew then what I know now. I can’t wait until Obama gets in office and makes it all better! Oh wait, I just realized I had on someone elses rose colored glasses!

      This koolaid tastes funny.

      Brenda,

I did not mean to run that sentence together and insinuate that you are the one looking through rose colored glasses.

Trust me, the McCain camp doesn’t want to touch adding up gaffes. The only way they could come close is to duct tape McCain’s mouth shut so that he doesn’t say anything.
      ___________
SM: Oh Contrare mon frere (maybe Obama used that line in her adventures in Europe pretending he had foreign police experience) … McCain is old and not perfect … not like the Obamamessiah … he is the chosen one and perfect. He is Harvard educated and has the gift of speech.

      Obama is a walking gaffe!
