Watch the CBS Morning Show HERE of Brooke Bennett’s family on the case of 12 year old Brooke Bennett

What exactly did Brooke Bennett’s mother mean when she said … “I am hoping and praying that she was not talking to anybody regularly. I am hoping  that this was something that just came up, that some body out there thought that my daughter would be of interest in some really awful thing …”

WHAT!!!

Transcripts from the Nancy Grace Show from July 1, 2008 covering disappearance of 12 year old Brook Bennett. It appears that Nancy Grace was a bit stunned by some of the comments from the CBS interview as well, let alone the fact that Brooke Bennett’s mother would allow her to be in the presence of a convicted child molester alone.

C. BENNETT: I don`t know a whole lot about that. I am hoping and praying that she was not talking to anybody regularly. I`m hoping that this was something that just came up, that somebody out there thought that my daughter would be of interest in some really awful thing. And I just hope that they bring her home safe.

She likes doing somersaults and cart wheels. I love you, Brooke. I`m not mad. Just want you home.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: You`re not mad? What do you have to be mad about? I`m mad at you for letting your daughter be alone with a convicted child sex predator. You`re not mad?

You`re seeing video from the “CBS Early Show,” that`s Brooke Bennett`s mom seemingly in shock pleading for the return of her little girl.

I`m stunned, Lillian Glass. I`m stunned.

UPDATE I: FBI: Uncle planned sex ring initation for Brooke Bennett

A missing 12-year-old Braintree girl was to be initiated into a sex program the last day she was seen alive, according to an FBI affidavit released today.

Authorities previously believed Brooke Bennett was dropped off by her uncle at a Randolph convenience store June 25. Instead, the uncle — Michael Jacques, 42 — picked Brooke up at the store, lied to her about taking her to a party, and brought Brooke back to his home to initiate her into a sex club called “Breckenridge.”

The information is contained in an affidavit prepared by FBI Special Agent Daniel Rachek and made available today at U.S. District Court in Burlington.

The account is based on an interview with a person identified as “Juvenile 1” who said she was with Jacques and Brooke that morning. “Juvenile 1” is the same girl who told investigators about her own participation in Breckenridge and repeated assaults by Jacques that led to his arrest over the weekend.

The affidavit was released today prior to an initial appearance for Raymond A. Gagnon, Brooke’s former stepfather, on federal charges of obstruction of justice on allegations of destroying evidence in the investigation into Brooke’s disappearance.

“Juvenile 1” told authorities that the she and Brooke returned with Jacques to his home, where the girls watched TV. Juvenile 1 said she “understood that Bennett would be taken into the Breckenridge program that day, and that she would have sex with adult males,” Rachek wrote.

“Jacques eventually asked Bennett to go upstairs in the house with him. Juvenile 1 did not see Bennett again. She soon left the home at Jacques’ direction.”

UPDATE II: Police: Body of Brooke Bennett found in Randolph

By Sam Hemingway • Free Press Staff Writer • July 2, 2008 BETHEL — Police have discovered the body of Brooke Bennett near a sugarhouse off a country road in Randolph. The body of the 12-year-old Braintree girl, missing since June 25 and the subject of Vermont’s first Amber Alert, was found today near Crocker Road — just a few miles from the home of her uncle. The uncle, Michael Jacques, 42, is the lead suspect in Brooke’s disappearance. She was last seen at his home on East Bethel Road the day she vanished.

Sex with children often involves very powerful people and it an activity that they want to mainstream. Michael Jackson went free and so did John Ramsey. In both cases authorities looked the other way.

Well, God rest her soul, at least her agony is over. It’s been impossible to keep up with events … but it seems clear that some people in her family, and others perhaps, know a hell of a lot more than they have disclosed.

The comments by “Juvenile 1″ are freshly out, but they might confirm something that is well known: child victims of sex abuse often later go on to participate on the offender side. It’s as though they seek to understand what happened to them by replicating the experience.

I’m just blathering, I suppose, but I have read that this is a common pattern. Obviously, it doesn’t apply in every case.

Let’s hope that Vermont and/or the FBI turn up the full heat on these suspects. Brooke can suffer no more … let’s hope that her assailant(s) will. And that they don’t live out a natural life span.

I’m moving up a post from the previous thread, showing what kind of ‘punishment’ this animal Jacques received after kidnapping and assaulting an 18-year-old girl that he knew from work.

Prepare to be angry and sickened. I hope so, at least. I can’t read this and feel otherwise.

      xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Okay, folks, here’s the info on his previous sentence. Jacques knew the girl he attacked (apparently he was the only one involved in rape.)

      Sentence? SIX YEARS ….

How long did he serve? FOUR AND A HALF YEARS, AFTER AN EARLY RELEASE FOR ‘GOOD BEHAVIOR.’

      I kid you not.

He also had an earlier conviction.

Now his charge is raping a child REPEATEDLY over FIVE YEARS.

And his new charges were of a time when he was still under state ’supervision’ and ‘probation.’

Anyone else feel sick to their stomach?

      Chelsea, Vermont – July 1, 2008

We have learned more about Brooke Bennett’s uncle Michael Jacques and his prior conviction for kidnapping and rape in 1992.

Jacques, 42, was charged Monday with raping a child repeatedly for five years and taking part in a sex ring called Breckenridge. This is not the first time the 42-year-old has been the focus of a sex crime investigation.

In 1993, he was convicted of kidnapping and rape committed in June 1992. Court records show that the victim was an 18-year-old young woman he supervised at a fast-food business in Rutland. The records show he and a friend got her drunk and then Jacques alone forced her into his car and over the next four hours raped her several times. The police affidavit says she was choked with a rope around her neck, gagged with a cloth in her mouth, and handcuffed with police-style cuffs. Police say Jacques eventually let her go after he told her he needed help and was going to seek psychiatric counseling.

The victim told police that Jacques said he had killed a 12-year-old girl he raped in Arizona in 1985 because she threatened to go to the police, “so he had to kill her.”

The police were unable to confirm his claimed killing of the 12-year-old in Arizona, but Jacques did plead no contest to the charges of kidnap and rape in Vermont. In return, under a plea agreement, he got six years in prison, but was released after serving only four and half with credit for good time.

That 1992 plea deal also required Jacques to complete the sex offender treatment program before he could be released from probation. According to the records, he did complete the therapy program, and was released from state supervision in December 2006. His new charges stem from crimes that allegedly happened while he was still undergoing sex offender treatment and still under state supervision on probation.

Jacques does have another conviction– in 1985 in Washington County for lewd and lascivious conduct. We are working to get the records in that case.

Read the affidavit containing the police evidence against Michael Jacques in the CURRENT case.**

This type of shit is what is wrong with the curent laws. Not just in the USA but other Nations.

Time after time we see convicted ppl that have abused a pet or a eldlery person. 90% of the time that same person will go on to abuse a child, via sexualy or otherwise. Its time that BUSTERS LAW in nys mean a frigging thing and in other states that adopted the same law! Otherwise ,,we will see this crap continue and let again let the scum slip thru the cracks.

      God bless BB!!!!!

How does your family do this to a 12 year old? It is so sick and I pray that she would rest in peace. Having just lost my mother at 84 yrs. of age it really upsets me that this child has no future. What could she have been? We should all be working toward ridding the world of all these perverts. A 12 yr. old deserves to have her life infront of her.

The latest article on Burlington Free Press says that the Internet entry was put there apparently as a false lead. In other words, she wasn’t in the company of someone she had contacted on MySpace or anything else … it was her family.

Here’s a partial quote from the article:

Federal prosecutors said in court papers they plan to bring additional charges against Gagnon based on his statements to investigators. Among his admissions, according to Rachek’s affidavit:

In June 2007 Gagnon and Jacques “engaged in sex with Juvenile 1.”

Jacques sent Gagnon digital photos of Juvenile 1 and her boyfriend “engaged in sexual acts,” and Gagnon stored those photos in a safe.

Gagnon downloaded a vast amount of child pornography from the Internet, including images of children as young as 5, and he stores those images on his laptop computer and on hard drives he keeps in his safe.

The affidavit said Gagnon called his landlord in San Antonio at 3 a.m. Monday with instructions to dispose of the safe. The landlord, Kevin Grosenheider, said he did not know what the safe contained but that he presumed it was child pornography. Grosenheider told police he threw the safe into a Dumpster at an apartment complex in San Antonio. Police were unable to retrieve the safe, which authorities believe also contained Gagnon’s laptop.

    10. richard on July 2nd, 2008 6:50 pm

“The affidavit said Gagnon called his landlord in San Antonio at 3 a.m. Monday with instructions to dispose of the safe. The landlord, Kevin Grosenheider, said he did not know what the safe contained but that he presumed it was child pornography.”

HUH? A guy gets a call at 3 am to throw away a safe … and he goes and does it? Did he presume AT THE TIME that it held child pornography?

This landlord sounds nearly as suspicious as the rest of them.

I cannot believe juvenile 1 left Brooke there with that perverted ass monster.I also don’t believe Brooke was just recently introduced to this sick gang of perverts.Poor Brooke, where in the hell was her Mama? Her Daddy who said he knew about pervert micheals past record? What about Brooke’s Grandparents?Other relatives?Looks like she had no one to look out for her and keep her safe.I would not be surprised to hear that more of her so called family members are involved in this.

How those innocent young flies enter the trap with honey laden notes

    13. Maggie on July 2nd, 2008 7:05 pm

Lots of questions.. Why was this guy out walking around after seeing his past on the news? Why would any mother expose her kids to such low lifes? While on probation, he was engaged in more of the same activity,, why was noone monitoring him? Samantha Runyone, Danielle Van Damme, Polly Klass, Jessica Lunsford and that is only just a few of the young girls who have suffered at the hands of these sickos.. Why wait until they offend over and over and kill before they wake up and realize, these people CAN’T be cured, they WILL only continue to offend when let out, and every time another young child loses their life because the laws continue to allow it. 1 strike, put these people away for life away from children. How many more innocent children have to die, when enough is enough? Get them an island and let them offend each other..

    14. columbo on July 2nd, 2008 7:06 pm

will VT succumb to the pressure to adopt Jessica’s Law now? Light the fires……..

    15. Dan on July 2nd, 2008 7:13 pm

I think the world needs to put together a place to send these scum bags and have no rights, none what so ever. Put the nastiest person in the world in charge and give him free rein to run it the way he likes. No food no nothing, let them feed off themselves. A shark infested island would work nicely, put the perps on a plane and a para chute and shove them out the door over the island, if they make it good for them if they don’t good for the sharks.
God Bless Brooke and her sweet young spirit, may she rest in peace in the arms of the lord.

      http://www.vermont.gov/portal/help/contact.php

Above is a link that everyone can go to for the State of Vermont and take action. I did. I emailed them from that link and told them to put in place Jessica’s law so that those individuals that kill or harm children can be locked up indefinitely. Take action. I am a firm believer that we the people are the ones that need to rise up and take control…demand better laws. There are so many parents that are unfit, their relatives preying on children, and yes, people of wealth looking for some quick thrill preying on our children….molestation crossess all classes of people….and it needs to be stopped now. The cycle has to stop. I believe we need to create a prison on some island and put those sicko’s out far away and put them to some hard labor and make them productive yet far away so they cannot harm anyone ever again. I believe the judge that let’s someone out that does harm again, should lose their job and take responsibility. I believe any parent that turns their back and let’s something happen to their children should be punished and charged with ‘something’….definitely lose their children forever. God help us. This is such a sad situation and well, if our legal system cannot do something, we need to demand it ourselves. Don’t you agree????? Everyone????? Please let’s take action.

    17. Dan on July 2nd, 2008 7:41 pm

Just a re thought, have no one in charge and just push them out the plane door over the island and tell them nothing, let them wonder. Under no circumstances drop food, cloths, medical supplies, NOTHING, they are on their own. Let them suffer and try and survive. If you think about it, they would suffer as much if not more than our young sweet children and always be scared if another person may be dropped that can over power them. Let them survive the way they can, if they can. Burn the trees and vegitation so there is nothing to use for escape.

    18. eg on July 2nd, 2008 9:22 pm

vt and other states should open their eyes wide and enact AND ENFORCE some laws to protect out innocent children. why is this horrible crime being repeatedly daily all over our land. listen up law makers!!!!!

its sad and tragic for brooke that she had to be in a family with screwed up adults.. her mother is responsible for thinking of her own needs first..
most often like maggie commented in another post… its the relatives that the police look at first and this case it proved to be right on!!
may this precious life rest in peace…. and may the mother live the rest of her life with the guilt of this.

she possibly thought this would never happen to her but guess what lady!!! it did and now you have to live with the consequences….

      brooke is in heaven !!!!

SHE ESCAPED FROM HER DYSFUNCTIONAL HOME .. TRAGICALY ….

    20. MrPete on July 9th, 2008 2:49 pm

There is no god. There is no heaven. There is no hell. There is no justice. Prayers are for the stupid. Shit happens and life goes on. Period.

    21. AnotherBody on August 3rd, 2012 10:46 am

How many young girls need to die before things change? Why is this acceptable? Who’s daughter has to be killed before the ‘justice’ system changes?

And what’s the point of keeping this guy on Earth for another second? This guy needs to be put to sleep for good. End of story.
