I think this is a phenomenal idea, and kudos to Dana for his support of it.
Some parents are more concerned about the emotions of their precious little snowflakes than they are about the hard truth about drunk driving, and it’s maddening (no pun intended).
Drunk driving is a crime for which I have very little sympathy. It’s 100% preventable, and kills far too many people each year. Personally, I’d support a permanent revocation of drivers license on first offense of drunk driving. Zero tolerance.
We all know how emotional teens are, and how speaking to their emotions is one of the most effective ways to communicate with them. I think a little bit of real-life role playing like this is a fantastic idea that should be rolled out every 6 years or so. Can’t do it every year because the kids would catch on to it, but it should only take once to drive home the reality of death being forever and drunk driving being a massive mistake.
What other crimes, by what populations, are best prevented by lying to individuals who aren’t suspects? When should someone lie to you, for your own good?
