Al Sharpton Tells Barack Obama “Stop Grandstand in Front of White People”

Its a power war to the top of the Black leadership in the United States and Al-sharptonthere is only so much room at the top. There can be only one. The New York Post reported that in a telephone conversation Al Sharpton accused Barack Obama of grandstanding in front of white people. How sad and pathetic is it that some people when speaking have to always use the words black and white to describe people for effect? We cannot just be people. We have always said that racism is a cottage industry in the US and many people keep blacks at whites at each others throats and benefit in the process. Does an arms dealer ever want war to end?

Barack Obama made a call for nonviolence in the aftermath of the Sean Bell verdict - infuriating the Rev. Al Sharpton, who accused the presidential candidate of trying to “grandstand in front of white people,” sources told The Post.

During what a source described as a “heated” phone call yesterday, Sharpton told Obama he was disappointed with the Illinois senator’s words on Friday, when Obama said “resorting to violence to express displeasure” was “completely unacceptable and counterproductive.”

Of course the irony is not lost in Sharpton’s comments. Imagine Al telling anyone not to grandstand. Isn’t Al Sharpton the master of grandstanding?

The source said Sharpton had hoped Obama would “side with the Bell family” and not use it as an “opportunity to grandstand in front of white people.”

An Obama spokesman described the conversation as a chance to “hear [Sharpton's] views and to get his perspective.”

A spokesman for Sharpton is denying the report. Although the report is being denied, one finds it hard to believe that Sharpton would take kind to any lack of support for his cause.

just as i said before, the brothas will eventually fall upon one another because of jealousy and power. just as the panthers did in chicago. this made it easy for the chicago police to take them down.
let them keep fighting among themselves, because this is what you will see with obama as president.

Colin Powell is a perfect example of what black people can become….A man of dignity, intelligence and self respect..get a life because this isn’t a free ride for anyone…!!!! I’m like totally confused??!! Isn’t Obama HALF white? WTF is Sharpton worried about? Doesn’t he know that?

Better idea for Sharpton…fuss at Obama for grandstanding in front of black people because he’s half white!

The saddest part of this is that it isn’t whites who refuse to vote for a black man; they have in large enough numbers to get him (close to) the Democratic nomination. He was endorsed by whites and blacks. People were excited about him and his chances. Now it’s black “leaders”, if you want to call Jeremiah and Al that, who are derailing him.

This reminds me of Katrina, when Nagin’s incompetence was spelled out in detail on national television, people and animals suffered and died, and everyone blamed the white guy from Washington and re-elected Nagin, who said he knew he’d win ’cause he was running against white guys.

Stop crying about race and start acting responsibly to make the changes that need to be made. If this campaign doesn’t show that whites can and will support changes, I don’t know what does. Or…….maybe they don’t want to see real change. Then there won’t be anyone to hate or blame. I don’t believe the majority of blacks feel that way, but it appears the Louis’s, Al’s and Jeremiah’s do. Pick your side and choose wisely.

We have many people that come here from foreign countries and make a successful living…why isn’t it so for some….because some work and some don’t…I know a great deal of foreign people that appreciate being in America and are working hard to make a living….some just sit around and take….but our gov’t has allowed some people to sit on their butts and do nothing but collect a check…..

I will repeat my question from an earlier thread: why should anyone give a damn about Sharpton or what he thinks, or what he says? In my eyes, he’s nothing but a synthetic media creation: his prominence (if that’s what you call it) is derived not from any accomplishment, but rather because he gets on TV.

A figure of total fluff, who would dissolve if the TV lights and cameras were turned off.
Like so many others in our society today.

Meanwhile, anyone who wants to read an inspired and inspiring book about what CAN be achieved would do well to look at the autobiography of Booker T. Washington, “Up From Slavery.” I just bought that last week, and it’s well worth the time of every American, black, white, whatever, to read.

He refused to preach the message of hate … and few people would have had greater justification to do so. His accomplishments are legion.

Just one quote from BTW’s autobiography:

“There was never a time in my youth, no matter how dark and discouraging the days might be, when one resolve did not continually remain with me, and that was a determination to secure an education at any cost.”

This from a person born into slavery, and who never had a chance to read until fairly late in life.

Look at what he accomplished despite all of the obstacles in his way … obstacles that few of us can even imagine having to encounter, much less surmounting.

Then look at the opportunities out there today, and note how much social trash (my term for the TV programs, etc.) overshadows them. With abundance all around us, what values are upheld?

Ah, well, read the book … it’s well worth it.

Another great man who longed for an education in his youth can be seen here. It shows the unity of all races, in a way:

Where was Al when the white motorist in Detroit was beaten to coma by black thugs? The motorist accidentally hit a black child when the child ran out onto the road. He did the right thing by stopping to attend to the child. The news media at first reported a motorist was beaten by several men upset that a child was hit. NO mention of race until the police and the black community started putting pressure on the individuals to turn themselves in because the beating was just plain wrong. It was motived by COLOR. Had the roles been reversed and it was a black motorist beaten by white thugs, Al would have been screaming for justice. He is a phoney reverend and not a real man.
