The Disappearance and Water Search for Natalee Holloway in Aruba Discussed on Dateline NBC, Part 1
The disappearance and search for Natalee Holloway in Aruba
It was the beginning of a quest that would transform two parents from small town America into international investigators, who even today are trying to answer the question: what happened to Natalee?
Part 1 – FULL TRANSCRIPT
Beth Holloway: I was excited the Mountain Brook students had been there the previous two years. Even my step-son — the year 2003. And there were going to be over 150 plus classmates. So, we felt like, you know, there’s safety in numbers.
She felt good about it except for one troubling piece of information about a nightspot down there, a bar called Carlos ‘n Charlie’s.
Beth Holloway: My step-son had had an encounter at Carlos ‘n Charlie’s during 2003.
Chris Hansen: During his senior class trip?
Beth Holloway: Yes– yeah. Tere were some locals there. And they had coaxed some young females into leaving the establishment with them… and he stepped in at the last minute because just didn’t feel good about the situation, you know, with them–
….
Beth Holloway: I knew instantly when I received that call that just from Natalee’s history and character and just her record, I– I knew instantly that she’d either been kidnapped or murdered. There was no hesitation. Absolutely none– absolutely none.
She raced towards home and frantically called 911.
Beth Holloway: I’m saying, “My daughter’s been kidnapped or murdered in Aruba. Help me. I need some help, you know?” And then the calls turned into I’m calling 911 and I’m telling them I’m driving a 120 miles an hour down the interstate and don’t anybody stop me.
She finally did get pulled over — and a state trooper got her in touch with the FBI.
Back at his home in Mississippi, Dave Holloway also got the frightening news:
PART II
And the lead detective, he told me that he would have to have a shave. And he rubbed his cheeks, and his stretched his arms down to his large stomach and said he would have to have his Frosted Flakes first before he could deal with me.
And then, after two hours, he came out and said that he’d changed his mind. That he didn’t need to meet with us after all. (Beth Holloway)
Beth Holloway: So, all I did was give this little bit of information to the nighttime manager and she knew instantly who he was.Chris Hansen: And who was he?Beth Holloway: She said, “Oh, that’s Joran Van der Sloot and he’s — 17. No, he’s a local here. No, he hangs out here. Now that they knew his full name Beth wanted to put a face on it.She asked to see the casino security videotape. And as she watched it play, she was on the phone with her step-nephew, who had been on the trip, and had sat next to Joran in the casino the night before.…“We’ve got the car. And we’ve got the address.”Joran Van der Sloot’s address.Minutes later the group from Alabama was arriving at his family’s home. While Beth sat in the car her friends from home grilled Joran, pressing him for details about what happened after he and Natalee left the bar.Beth Holloway: The words that he uses are sexually explicit and graphically detailed of what he is engaging in. The conduct he’s engaging in with Natalee in the backseat of the car.…Dave Holloway: On June 1.Chris Hansen: From the get go.Dave Holloway: He said “A lot of these girls come to the island, they miss their flights. She’ll show up in a few days.”Chris Hansen: In a few days.Dave Holloway: Yeah. Says, “She’s probably out just partying. A lot of them will come here and get hooked up with a drug dealer. They’ll be under drugs for awhile.”Chris Hansen: How did you respond to that?Dave Holloway: I said, “that’s not my daughter.”Both parents felt nearly paralyzed with fear, but they did keep moving. The next day Beth was back at the police station and this time the detective had questions for her.Beth Holloway: He asked me if Natalee ever had a history of seizures or epilepsy? And I said, “No.”Chris Hansen: Did you think that was odd? At the time?Beth Holloway: No, I just thought, “Why are you asking that?”Beth Holloway Twitty says she didn’t understand the significance of that question at the time and wouldn’t for more than two years. But soon after that question was posed to her, there were arrests in the case. Just not who she thought.A week after Natalee’s disappearance, two Holiday Inn security guards were taken into custody. Mark Lunsford, Father of Murdered Jessica Lunsford Plan to Sue Citrus County Sheriff’s Office
The parents of 9 year old murdered Jessica Lunsford, Mark Lunsford and Angela Wright, plan to sue the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office for negligence in the handling of the case. Jessica Lunsford was kidnapped, raped and murdered only after being buried alive by a sex offender, John Couey.
The notice claims the sheriff’s office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners were negligent during the investigation into the girl’s disappearance and alleges that such negligence possibly contributed to her death, according to MyFoxTampaBay.com.
Jessica was murdered by John Couey in 2005. It took a month for authorities to find her body. Couey was sentenced to death last year for the gruesome killing.
“I know you have a lot of questions, and you deserve the answers, and so does the public,” Mark Lunsford told reporters outside his home Thursday. (FOX News)
The reaction by the attorneys of Citrus County is not shocking. What are they going to say but they are surprised and the suit is baseless. The fact that law enforcement never searched the residence where Couey was staying is irrelevant I guess. While the parents of murdered Jessica Lunsford are suing, maybe they might want to include the prosecutors office as well for not bring conspiracy murder charges against the rest of the individuals who were at the residence where John Couey raped and murdered Jessica.
At a news conference just before Lunsford’s, Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy said he was surprised by the lawsuit.
“I was surprised and disappointed,” he said. “We truly believe that this litigation is baseless. There is nothing there. A lot of you followed this case and saw the efforts put forth by the men and women of this organization, the Florida Department of Law enforcement, FBI and countless other agencies. And I think everybody in my family at the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office and also my community have to know that Commissioner Bailey [FDLE] and I are going to vigorously defend our agencies against this baseless allegation made by the Lunsfords that we failed to do our job.”

In a Post Natalee Holloway Aruba … Tourism is Still Down and not Close to What it Once Was
Going, going, going and still gone …
Aruba tourism is still an issue after the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in May 2005. The Aruban tourism officials may want to go back to the very first story that Scared Monkeys ever wrote regarding missing Natalee Holloway, “This Can’t Be Good For Tourism, Where’s Natalee Holloway”.
For an Island paradise that prides itself on sandy beaches and a constant trade wind, the last thing they would want is bad publicity of an unsafe island. However, An Alabama high school student, Natalee Holloway, disappeared during her graduation trip to Aruba.
Think we did not know what we were talking about from the outset of this case and the subsequent actions and reactions of Aruban authorities? There are very few predictions that we have made and discussed with Natalee’s family that did not come to pass. Aruba is based on tourism and money and all else comes second. Natalee Holloway went missing in May of 2005 and Aruba is still feeling the effects of that event as they refuse to provide a competent and just investigation and prosecution of those they know to be involved. Aruba, do you think its about time you prosecute Joran Van der Sloot?
… compared to December 2006, the room occupancy of the hotels as well as the number of cruise passengers dropped in the same month in 2007. Although the room occupancy of the hotels dropped in December …
Not only did the cruise passengers drop in December of 2007, but also the number of cruise ships that visited the island; with respectively 8.3 and 11.8 percent. Over the entire 2007, the number of cruise passengers dropped to 481.775, 18.5 percent less than in 2006 and the number of cruise ships remained that same as in 2006
The fact that they tried to cover up a crime and think it was just going to go away will haunt Aruba for decades to come. Aruba can spend all the money they want on tourism consultant groups, it will never make an impact into the free publicity on the internet, TV and individuals choice to express their displeasure as to how the investigation was handled.
Aruba has always been vulnerable to tourism dependency which makes how they dealt with the Natalee Holloway case all that more bizarre. They just that Beth, Dave, Jug and the rest of us would go away.
Go away? Hardly … stay tune for reports from the Boston Travel Show this weekend as people are reminded by a grass roots effort that Natalee Holloway is still missing in Aruba and they have done nothing to provide “Justice for Natalee”.

Liberals are Their own Worst Enemy … Liberal NY Times Smear Attack on John McCain … The Right & Rush Limbaugh come to Mc Cain’s Defense
How much does the Left fear John McCain as a candidate?
How moronic and stupid could the left possibly be? The attempted drive by smear of the NY Times of soon to be Republican nominee John McCain may just be what the doctor ordered for the right to embrace McCain. Thank you NY Times. Even liberal blogs are very skeptical of the NY Times drive by hit piece on John McCain.
One would have thought that with Hillary Clinton’s recent tale of woe and consecutive losses in the Democratic primaries that it would be her and the Clinton machine that would have attacked Barack Obama and fauxtoshopped pics of Obama, clowns and farm animals would have miraculously surfaced. Instead it was the liberal rag, the New York Times that released and old, tired and previously denied story regarding John Mc Cain and a lobbyists that reared their ugly and biased head.
The New York Times in their liberal bias stupidity have awoke a sleeping giant and unleashed their worst nightmare. Rush Limbaugh has come out in defense of John McCain.
