Greta Van Susteren certainly gives Les Levine a grilling. The fact of the matter is that the defense cannot explain away their client’s actions or words.

ORANJESTAD – The Public Prosecutor (OM) announced yesterday that the Common Court of Justice of the Neth.Antilles and Aruba won’t decide on a possible arrest of Joran van der Sloot tomorrow, because it was decided that the Dutch lawyer of Van der Sloot gets till Wednesday to give his vision on the case.
The examining magistrate decided two weeks ago that the confessions of Van der Sloot that were secretly recorded by Peter R. de Vries, are not enough for arresting him in the Netherlands. The OM that attaches much importance to the statements of the suspect, lodged an objection to the decision. Expectations were that the objection would be honoured or not after last weekend. The OM has till Friday afternoon to submit all relevant information on the suspect. One day before that, on Thursday, Van der Sloot was voluntarily interrogated by detectives of the Aruban police and of the Corps National Police services (KLPD) in Rotterdam, as a result of the recordings. With that interrogation and with supplemental investigation, the OM wanted to gather sufficient evidence to arrest the suspect a third time due to his participation in the Holloway-case. After earlier arrests of the suspect, the examining magistrate is now making very high demands in order to approve the custody.
The minister of Justice, Rudy Croes has declared Joran van der Sloot, who is suspected of having murdered Natalee Holloway, persona non grata. Other than for judicial investigation, Joran van der Sloot is no longer welcome on the island.
The ministry of Justice also proposes this vote of censure in the light of a package of measures to tackle criminality problems among Aruban and Antillean young persons in the Netherlands that is agreed upon in the Dutch cabinet. The Dutch Justice-minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin is preparing a law that makes it possible to send them back to Aruba or the Antilles if necessary. “Let Joran be the first example of a Dutchman that is not wanted in Aruba”, said the minister, who also knows that judicially, it’s going to be difficult to really deny him admission to the country. “I simply do not want him here.”

Last week the Aruba ALE heard a teacher who found a cell phone about one year after the disappearance of Natalee. It turned out that this phone belonged to Joran’s brother Valentijn. This teacher called a few numbers from this phone and one of these numbers was from Paulus. At first look they thought this phone was from Joran father Paulus.

To call somebody “persona non grata” the person has to be from a foreign country. In this situation I think it’s not the case.
With the arrest of the little sloot, the case will not be solved and done. The have to arrest and interrogate (squeeze out like a lemon) THE OLD GUY (he will sweat the truth out), then the rat tail of the other adults involved will follow.

In the U.S. we call it contingency fee, where the lawyer gets (usually) 33% of money collected if they win. But expenses still have to be paid and there are lots of expenses. Travel and calls to Aruba and the Netherlands, private investigators, courier services, copies, court costs (when the time comes). Both Joe and Les have mentioned how Joran has changed in the last 3 years, he’s not the same man he was back in 2005. They’re setting the stage to sue anyone they can get their hands on. They say Joran is close to suicide. Wouldn’t surprise me if at least some of the death threats are being made by Sloot supporters who want to help make Joran look like the victim. Joe’s plan is in the works. He’s not calling off his big payday or Joran’s.

A Pactum de Quota Litis can also be used here in the US. They exempt the client from having to pay expenses. Their use is rare, but legal in many states except New York, Alabama, Ohio and perhaps a few more, which consider that attorneys cannot lawfully make a bargain with their clients to receive for their compensation, a part of the thing sued for.

During interrogation, the remaining detained suspects’ story changed. Van der Sloot stated to police he left Holloway at the Marriott Hotel beach near the fishermen’s huts and phoned Deepak Kalpoe for a ride home, and that Satish Kalpoe drove Van der Sloot home. The Kalpoes agree that Van der Sloot and Holloway were dropped off there, but deny that either returned to pick up Van der Sloot. The three have adhered to those versions of events, more or less, since then.

We shouldn’t want an arrest until they get their S%^## together. If they arrest him without good solid evidence (yes, the confession helps) he may walk (double jeopardy). Every single thing that Joran said needs to be investigated before they arrest him again. Actually, the ENTIRE case needs to be re-investigated…by someone competent.
Joran knows that he is as guilty as hell, and so is Paulus. The entire world knows.

They’ve ignored computer tampering, cell phone triangulation, missing shoes between size 10 and 14, statements by van der Straaten that even Joran wrote about in his book, witnesses, material that appears to be Natalee’s top, a belt found on the beach, a washed up bone, duct tape, a mattress, security shirt, chemical cleaners, statements from other girls that were drugged by Joran, statements about knowing girls drinks are drugged at CNC, IM messages between Joran and the Kalpoes about their plans for American Tourist Girls, Michael Dompig’s admission about predator behavior in hotels, blah blah blah.

Van der Sloot not to be arrested again.
Joran van der Sloot will not be arrested again for the disappearance of Natalee Holloway on Aruba. That is what his Dutch lawyer was told by the OM on Aruba.
The OM performed a new investigation after the show of Peter R. de Vries in which Van Der Sloot was filmed with a hidden camera. To an infiltrant he said that he was responsible for the disappearance of the American girl. Later he said he had made that up.
The OM does not see any grounds for a new arrest of Van der Sloot in the broadcasting and things that were stated afterwards.

ORANJESTAD – The police corps committed a blunder in the case of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. According to ex-commissioner Stanley Zaandam, who dedicates attention to the case here and also in his upcoming publication.
According to Zaandam, the nominations – of among others Commissioners Bernardina, Dompig, Hassel and Richardson, along with 34 high-rank 1st class inspectors – which are against the law and hierarchy of the KPA [police corps], have serious consequences for the quality and integrity of work in KPA.
Accoding to Zaandam, none of the high-ranked commissioners has the qualifications nor experience to conduct a judicial investigation.

According to Zaandam, Commissioner Dompig is under the instruction of Minister Rudy Croes, of MEP.
He also states that 20 other policemen were ranked high on a political list. Five others (…) among them Commissioner Hassell, according to Zaandam.
He also claims this is how Commissioner vd Straten was appointed to this case. However, according to Zaandam, this should not be work for a commissioner.
BLUNDER
Zaandam continues talking about the blunder under which the 3 youngsters were questioned, which should have been a simple case, but one that resulted in KPA’s biggest blunder, due to the deceiptfulness of JvdS, Satish and Deepak Kalpoe, they remained free another 12 days.
FALSE ARREST
Zaandam keeps on saying in his book, two days after 5/29, the body of Natalee H. may have already been found and Cvp [police commissioner] looked the other way to do a favour for Paul vd Sloot (ex of chief staff of Cabinet PG [prosecutor general] J. Zwinkels). To exculpate the son of Paul, the CvP and fiscal chief prosecutor Karen Jansen made the false arrest of two ex-security guards, Jones and John , called this a ‘tactical maneuver’ , and denied them their freedom for another 10 days.
This, continues Zaandam in his book, is the issue here. However, he has much more to tell regarding the case of Natalee Holloway.

Judge Bob Witt Judicial associate of Paulus van der Sloot changed the search warrant on the spot from the entire VDS residence to a small part of the property,Joran’s little apt and the two cars. High Ranking official Ben Vocking(King)laid low for two weeks purportedly staying at the Van der Sloot residence. He surfaced on June 15, 2005 at the door of the Van der Sloot home with Dutch Judge Bob Wit to block the search of the Van der Sloot property when the police and prosecution authorities arrived with a full search warrant. It wasn’t until two years later that the VDS house was fully searched.
Judge Bob Wit intervened again eight days later when Joran’s father Paulus Van Der Sloot was arrested for reasonable suspicion in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, once again blocking a search of the Van Der Sloot home. Without question Bob Wit knew Paulus van der Sloot – they worked on cases together and appear to be very good friends judging from such an outrageous ruling. Since when do arrested murder suspects get immunity from having their houses searched? Judge Bob Wit needs to answer this question in the open forum of the Caribbean Court of Justice, rather than hide behind the opaque wall of Dutch law
Judge Rick Smid– Reportedly a friend of PVDS who stayed at VDS home. It was Judge Rick Smid who released the three suspects and gave them an unconditional release granting them immunity from further questioning in the case. On August 30, 2005 Judge Smid issued a ruling that Joran should be held another 30 days, flew back to Curacao and immediately faxed in a reversal of his ruling. Police statements and secret recordings of the three suspects suggest intimate knowledge of “something bad” happening to Holloway. He was also aware that Joran van der Sloot had lied repeatedly in his police statements and conflicting statements from all the suspects. Judge Rick Smid chose to ignore this and grant immunity instead. Upon his release, Joran van der Sloot fled the island of Aruba to Holland where he currently resides. As we know none of the suspects have ever been questioned again. Including Paul Van Der Sloot where it was ruled by Aruba’s highest court that he had two contacts with Natalee Holloway including at 4am two hours after his son said he left her at the beach.

Jan van der Straten’s role as lead investigator in the first two months of the Natalee Holloway case demonstrates the obvious conflicts of interest found in the Aruba investigation. Van der Straaten was, by Paulus van der Sloot’s own public admission, a “close friend” of Van der Sloot and worked for PVDS years earlier. We know PVDS and JVDS were in constant contact during the Investigation and we know the bogus evidence that got the security guards arrested was by Gerald Dompig’s brother-in law who also states he saw Natalee Holloway with cocaine. Both are definite flat out lies. Van der Straten would have been very instrumental in the decision not to arrest the three main suspects in Natalee’s disappearance until 10 days after she vanished, even though he knew immediately that they lied about dropping the Alabama teen off at the Holiday Inn.Van der Straten would have also been involved in the decision to arrest two black security guards on June 5, 2005 which in effect prolonged the time given to the three suspects to cover their tracks and eliminate any evidence that should have been collected immediately upon the discovery of the Holiday Inn lie.Van der Straten stated to Dutch media on June 12, 2005 that he believed Natalee was no longer alive and when asked by the reporter why he would make such a comment he responded, “Because I know the evidence and you don’t. Interestingly, two years later the lead investigator has never explained what that evidence is.He also made comment months after we were told he was retiring and moved to the neighboring island of Bonaire as he took the same title as Police Commissioner. He stated that the case should have been solved early on but that there were “people who didn’t want to cooperate.” Since suspects rarely cooperate, Van der Straten had to have been talking about a corrupt Aruban government and Dutch judiciary. Any high-ranking official with such a close relationship to a suspect’s parent should have recused himself or alternately been forced off the case, but this is Aruba, a country in the grip of Mafia control who never saw a conflict of interest they didn’t like.

My daughter went on her ‘senior cruise’ in 2001 to Cancun & Cozumel. All of her photos look like the ones of the Mountain Brook kids, just different faces. They like to party but are good kids. They’re not into drugs and certainly wouldn’t take some in another country from someone they didn’t know.
A couple of months after Natalee disappeared, I asked my daughter if she thought Natalee would have left the bar with strangers. She told me “NO” and then said that she believed her and two of her friends had been drugged at a Carlos & Charlies that they visited. I was really shocked because she had never mentioned this to me. They thought the bartender was probably involved because “you only get your drink from the bartender and you don’t leave it unattended”.
She said they got so messed up (high) that their friends had to literally drag them out of the bar. They were having so much fun, they would have stayed there alone and without a care. This was not normal behavior for them because even being drunk they would have recognized the danger in being separated from their friends in a strange place. The next morning these three girls had a terrible hangover, worse than they ever had just drinking alcohol.
If Joran could fool Greta and many other experienced adults, there’s no doubt he was able to gain the trust of Natalee and some of her friends. Unfortunately, they probably let their guard down because they thought he was ‘like them’ and not a stranger/local.

I will be shocked if something changes and Joran gets re-arrested in Aruba. Can charges be brought forward in Holland? Peter DeVries believes he will stand a trial there. However, now I am totally confused b/c I thought Aruba was an island of the Dutch Antilles/Netherlands so are not both places ruled by the same government?
Joran will get his. His life will never be the same. While that may not seem like punishment enough for everyone’s life he has affected…I think it will be a living hell and someone will either harm him, kill him or he will end up depressed, either an alcoholic, depressed/suicidal further drug problems than the Sporter already has.
