Why does Hans Mos, OM, and Aruba continue to protect Joran Van der Sloot?
So Joran, does that mean when the rest of the time that you smoke pot, you are lying to? It’s not like this is the first time you have ever smoked. Hans Mos, the Aruban public prosecutor has made the following comment regarding the Peter R. De Vries tapes and Joran Van der Sloot.
If necessary, the OM will also protect the suspect Joran van der Sloot. The OM is also of the opinion that yesterday’s words of Justice-minister Rudy Croes were premature. Croes wants to declare Joran van der Sloot persona non grate.
“The boy is not convicted yet; besides, there are a whole lot of judicial hurdles ahead, before he can be refused admission to Aruba. He is legally admitted anyway”, was the reaction of the OM.
Then Mos makes this ridiculous comment after the poor job that Aruba has provided in handling the case of missing and presumed deceased Natalee Holloway.
“The interest for this case seems to degenerate into a witch hunt, whereby several people are being menaced in an intimidated manner”, is the opinion of justice. To the OM, these practices are ‘unacceptable’.
No, Hans … its not a witch hunt. Its called people demanding justice for an obvious crime and an obvious suspect where Aruban police and maybe even prosecutors and judges have knowingly looked the other way and provided a cover up. I have never seen such a child like, ignorant and and obtuse form of rational and reasoning when it comes to putting the facts together to prosecute a crime. It’s as though the only way they can prosecute the case is for Joran Van der Sloot to literally write down on a piece of paper that he did it and sign it. However, even them he may claim he was high.
What is “unacceptable”, is the fact that almost three years later … Aruba has not properly investigated, nor prosecuted any suspect for the crimes against Natalee Holloway. It took a Dutch crime reporter to provide … JUSTICE FOR NATALEE.
Justice interrogates Joran (Amigoe: 2/9/08)
While he was secretly being recorded in conversation with ‘informant’ Patrick van der Eem, he was under the influence of marihuana, said Joran van der Sloot in the interrogation with Justice.
ORANJESTAD — Joran van der Sloot declared that the conversations in Patrick van der Eem’s car, were carried on under influence of marihuana. He said this at a police station in Rotterdam, where he was voluntarily interrogated yesterday morning.
Detectives of the Aruban police and of the Corps national police service (KLPD) and his Dutch lawyer were present at the interrogation that lasted about two hours, said the Public Prosecutor (OM).
Other than that, Van der Sloot stuck to all his prior declarations in the investigation. He denies having anything to do with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, said the OM. He could leave after the interrogation. The examining magistrate decided on February 5 that Joran van der Sloot is not to be detained. The OM has appealed that decision and expects a verdict from the Common Court of Justice.
The OM has called on the media in a press release not to launch a witch hunt around the Holloway-case and to abstain from investigations of their own. “The interest for this case seems to degenerate into a witch hunt, whereby several people are being menaced in an intimidated manner”, is the opinion of justice. To the OM, these practices are ‘unacceptable’. People are being marked as suspects without any confirmation and menaced as such with all its consequences. Besides, other than causing big unrest, journalistic investigations harm the criminal investigation, said justice. “Without wanting to harm the value of free press coverage, justice would like the media to be reserved, exactly for the above reasons.”
The OM mentioned as an example the media hunt on an accomplice that Van der Sloot mentioned. After this person (Daury Rodriguez) had declared that he has nothing to do with the case, all eyes focused on a next person (Lorenzo van Rijn).
“The cameras were all around his house”, informed district attorney Dop Kruimel. “He had to take on a lawyer for the contact with us.”

Many institutions, official bodies, lawyers, journalists, and psychologists are asking themselves how to handle the outpouring of Joran van der Sloot before the hidden camera. According to law psychologist Albert Wagenaar, there is not even a confession in the revealing reportage. There is no solving of the case and it is no confession of a criminal act, ’because none is indicated’, said the psychologist.
The ombudsman of NOS, Tom van Bussel is of the opinion that the NOS should have been more reserved in reporting Peter R. de Vries’ claim that he had solved the Holloway disappearance-case. After the coverage of SBS6 on Sunday evening it appeared that De Vries’ promise is not fulfilled. “What we know now is that Joran is a confused guy. Like a source of the OM phrased it: ‘We thought that we would get a solution, but what we got was another of the so-many stories”, states the ombudsman on his NOS-website.
At this moment, the Dutch Council for Journalism doesn’t want to say whether certain publications in the Joran van der Sloot-case have crossed the borders of careful journalism.
Nevertheless, top executive of the Dutch OM, Harm Brouwer praises De Vries for his coverage. The chairman of the college of procurator-general said in an interview in Trouw last Friday that De Vries has delivered good journalistic work. “The criticism from media circles on De Vries is pretty hypocritical”, said Brouwer. “What he did is a logical continuation on a trend that is going on for years. He is in many respects a journalistic professional.”
Brouwer wants a social debate on citizens that are actively involved in tracing activities. That is just a detail. The point is, where private investigation must start and where it must stop.”
BALKENENDE
Premier Jan Peter Balkenende assumes that, during his Aruba-visit this Friday, the Holloway-case will come up for discussion in his conversation with Premier Nelson Oduber. He said in the TV-programme EenVandaag that this is the case of the judicial authorities and that he must not get involved. He pointed out the complexity of the case. Van der Sloot’s statements are indeed arguable; Daury said that he was not on Aruba when the affaire took place. Balkenende will be on Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles for five days, starting on Sunday.

Obviously … there is no meeting of minds regarding what the two prosecutors in the Natalee Holloway determines is sufficient evidence for detainment and … what the judiciary determines is sufficient evidence for detainment.
Something is not right. All formal suspects in the Natalee Holloway case were released by the judiciary. Lack of sufficient evidence was cited FOURTEEN TIMES.

You could see this coming. Mos is corrupt as the rest of the bunch. They went through all of the PR moves:
Pulling portapotties up to the Sloot house and spending a few days there – you will remember that PVDS knew immediately that nothing would come of this show, as Joran shot his mouth off immediately that he and pappa were laughing about it! You will also remember that although the press wasn’t allowed near, it was leaked that the KLPD investigators were taunting Paulus over Joran’s book (…good tactic…make it look like there is true animosity between the parties). The whole KLPD thing was staged.
Now we get Joran sticking his size 10 (or is it 14?) in his mouth and KLPD/Mos are working overtime to back him out of this (“I was drugged” “He didn’t admit to anything”, etc. etc.).
When are you going to arrest Paulus, Mos? Why do you protect him like your predecessors did? Why do you not question the courts finding of fact that Paulus had contact with Natalee Holloway twice that evening? Why do you not develop a timeline for Paulus….Mr. Mos???

i d like to mention again something that was on here before (cant remember where) that nobody seemed to pick up on.
On the de Vries tapes Joran is explaining to Patrick what happened after “Daury” got to the scene. “Daury” says “Joran What did you do!” The stange thing here is the way he pronounces his own name. He Says: Joraan with an elongated A and the intonation on the last letters of his name. The only time i heard someone say it like this was Paulus on American and Dutch television during Interviews.
It s a subtle intonation but clearly audible.
I also dont understand why they looked up this Daury Rodriguez cause even though his last name was beeped out, if you watch Jorans lips he does not say Rodriguez. It s more like Davids or Dewit.
Peter de Vries also said the last name was not Rodriguez.
The woman that tipped Rodriguez that he was mentioned on the tape is the same woman that wrote Jorans book. She claims Joran called her, gave her this guys number and asked her to call him to warn him.

Hans Mos job is to uphold the law of Aruba. That means protecting Joran from vigilantes or illegal attempts to prevent him from entering Aruba. By the same token, it is Mos job to honestly and aggressively pursue justice in the case of Natalee Holloway, including, but not limited to, investigating and prosecuting those who committed the crime and those who covered it up. I do hope he’s pursuing the corruption that allowed Joran and the Kalpoes from prosecution in 2005.

Daury Rodriguez is not half Dutch Half Aruban…his family is Colombian.
If he told his press agent to get in touch with Daury and warn him about the recordings, it’s because this is the Daury he was thinking about when he said his name. They are not going to find another Daury with the last name Joran said, because there isn’t any. He made it up.

I’ve said it many times, if you want to know the truth in this case; you have to go 180 degrees from what Joran says. If he says right, go left, if he says up, look down. If he says water, think dirt. No, yes. Yes, No.
Now from what I can tell, Joran is right; he is lying on the secret videotapes. That is he is half lying. He is telling some truth mixed with lies.
One major thing. If he says that he had nothing to do with Natalee’s death, he is rock solid, for Davie Crockett sure lying. He murdered her as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow.
Second very important thing. He knows exactly what he did with her body.
He said she died in his arms, but he does not tell you that she died because of his arms, and his fist, and his feet. He doesn’t tell you that he knows for absolute sure when he hid her body that she was dead, very dead. He made sure of that.
Nothing happen on the beach. It all took place at the sloots (first best guess). He keeps steering us away from the house, so that is where it happen.
He steers us toward the ocean. He makes many references to the ocean being big. So we know that Natalee was not taken out to sea. Did not happen, because he said it did.
The only time Joran has been scared in this investigation is when Dave was digging in the landfill, and for some reason when searches were going on at the lighthouse, but that did not scare him like the search in the landfill did.
Remember Joran’s confession and then his retraction of the confession. Remember “going to take authorities to her body”? It all happen when Dave was at the landfill. I think that is what Joran is referencing when he says, “they were close at times, and I’ve been lucky”.
He put Natalee in a dumpster “she was limp as an old rag”. Where do you put old rags?

Aruba is more collateral damage they have no concern or consideration for Aruba or the people that live there. Their only commitment is to themselves. Nancy Grace’s program is head and shoulders over Greta’s. Jug and Nancy are both getting more and more of the message out that there was an orchestrated Police cover-up in the first hours of Natalee’s disappearance. In the early days of TV reporting and coverage, there was always an effort not to bring this up. Now that the world has heard Joran’s confession……….all gloves are now off.
In future shows, we will begin a concerted effort and campaign to air statements that concerned travellers and Americans everwhere have a voluntary BOYCOTT movement in force as we no longer believe Aruba protects it’s visitors.

Remember, they are represented here by the Dutch Embassy (I understand that a person at the embassy handles relevant matters for Aruba, and certainly info is shared) as well as by their Aruba Tourism Authority flunkies.
And given that Americans have comprised 80% of their tourist market, they must be keeping an ear to the ground.

“Aruba’s Ministry of Justice filed for permission to re-arrest van der Sloot soon after his secretly recorded confession tape became public.
A Dutch judge denied the request – saying the tape didn’t provide enough evidence to justify van der Sloot’s third arrest.
Aruban prosecutors appealed, and a panel of three judges in The Netherlands was scheduled to decide Monday if they would over rule the first judge’s decision.
Instead, Monday afternoon the Appeals Court announced they’re giving van der Sloot’s defense attorney until Wednesday to fight the effort to re-arrest him.”
My hopes are dashed for any sort of closure on this for Natalee’s family. I am so afraid they will continue to allow Joran to go free, yet it seems so obvious that he is guilty. I just don’t think they will ever convict him without hard evidence.
