Another MySpace Encounter, Two Teens Alisa D. Betts and Lauren M. Gash Kidnap a Woman to Steal her Unborn Baby

What is this world coming to? How do these people walk among us? And the people committing the crimes are younger and younger. Two teenagers, Alisa D. Betts, 17, and Lauren M. Gash, 19, kidnapped Amanda Howard, 18 with the intent to steal her unborn baby. Where did the three meet up in the first place? MySpace of course. Once again we are presented with the learning experience of be very careful of who you meet on line over the internet.

Prosecutors say Alisa D. Betts, 17, and Lauren M. Gash, 19, kidnapped Amanda Howard, 18. Gash, of Odessa, and Betts, of Atchison, Kan., were arraigned on felony kidnapping charges Tuesday. Gash also was charged with assault.

Police believe the suspects lured Howard into a car Monday, sprayed her with Mace and bound her with tape, according to the complaint from the Jackson County prosecutor’s office.

Gash and Betts are accused of then driving the victim to a motel in Blue Springs, a Kansas City suburb. The complaint said Gash sat on Howard’s abdomen and twisted her neck back and forth, “a substantial step toward” trying to “kill or cause serious physical injury” to Howard. (Fox News)

This just proves that we live in a very nasty world, online or otherwise. The ages of perps these days is just shocking.
Actually I dont think its anything new. I recall a 13 yr old I went to school with kiling a classmate over her own male cousin. Shrug.

Yes, they met at MySpace and did not meet at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis.
Yes, they wore their skirts at mid-thigh level rather than worry about indecent exposure of the ankles.
They did not go to a quilting bee or corn huskin’ competition. They did not watch a public hanging or a bear baiting. They drank CocaCola not apple cider.

The fact that they met on MySpace is meaningless. Where else would they meet these days?

I agree you can meet up with sickos anywhere, but myspace.com is in the news all the time now. I started a myspace page to keep an eye on my kids. My youngest is almost 17 but her page is private so only friends and family that already know her can ask to be added as a friend. Two of my friends have shut down their kids’ myspace pages for inappropriate comments and threats from other people. You gotta watch out for your kids, because they have no clue how to watch out for themselves.

Harming a woman or a child is in itself despicable
But Harming a pregnant woman and an unborn child IE: The Davis /Cutts murder just crosses all the lines of Human decency .
This woman was indeed very very Lucky that these two degenerate girls were not able to carry out the rest of their plan .
NO MERCY, NO QUARTER should be given to those that seek to Harm a mother and her unborn .
A quick trial and an even quicker execution of Justice. THIS TYPE OF Antisocial BEHAVIOR HAS TO STOP !!

It’s not that they met at My Space that is important. What is important to remember is to stay away from anyone that is anonymous. Don’t open your doors to strangers, even on the computer, keep an eye out for any suspicous characters on the street and always have something to protect yourself should there be an attack. Stick with the people that you know and you’ll be a lot safer.

I agree with Jerry from Ohio, this act is despicaple and there should be no mercy shown for these two girls. What, in God’s name, could they have been thinking? Absolutely unbelievable.

After reading about this horror, is it beyond belief that in Aruba, a bunch of male teens might have decided to keep an American girl hostage and/or try to sell her or hand her over to someone, whether to profit from the act, to save their own asses, to get an “in” with big drug dealers or simply out of sheer sadism?

That doesn’t prove it happened this way … but we’re seeing a lot of things happening that nobody ever would believe could or would happen.

Gash & Betts are proof that abortion is wasted on the unborn. (What a waste of both time and expenses when the state has to wait until you’re 18 to do it.)

i actually grew up in atchison and knew alisa betts personally. it was definitely a huge shock for the whole town. how scary and awful for someone to actually plan on carrying out something as dispicable as this.

This whole lauren gash, alisa betts, an amanda howard this is so dumb, howard shouldn’t of gotten in a car with a stranger that she met on a web site! I know lauren, she’s not a bad person! A death in the family occured not too long before this actually happened, her mother was the unexpected death in her family, and those two were close! Their family is a really nice family. I wish the best for them. Neither of them hurt her, she perfectly fine. They wouldn’t have went through with the plan, they’re good people. Like you and me, people mess up, and want to be forgiven. So……. O well nobody will listen to me. But listen to the real story soon.
