Maybe the Pantless Judge, Roy L. Pearson, Suing the Dry Cleaner needs to Quit his Day Job

The frivolous law suit by Judge Roy L. Pearson was initially  set at $67 million for the loss Pants_dogof his pants. Pearson has now lowered his price to $54 million as I guess he has remembered that he purchased the pants for a maroon-and-blue suit that  went missing on sale. Check out how this DC Judge is abusing the very system that he stands in judgment of. This has to be the poster child case of frivolous lawsuits. The irony that it was brought forth by a judge is sickening.

Based on D.C.’s consumer protection law, Pearson originally argued the three Chungs each owe him $1,500 for 12 violations multiplied by the 1,200 days he went without satisfaction (he had his first problem with the Chungs back in 2002). That adds up to $64.8 million.

Here are some other parts of his claim:

$500,000 for emotional damages
$542,000 for legal fees (Pearson is representing himself; his hourly rate would be between $390 and $425 per hour) (CTV)

Believe it of not, this story actually gets worse and even more bizarre. Administrative law judge Roy Pearson actually fled the court room in tears after testifying in this absolutely ridiculous case.  Does this person really need to be a judge? First they abuse and exploit the very system they are supposed to have dominion over and now his burden is so great from the missing pants that he runs from court in tears. A career change may be in order.

A judge left a courtroom with tears running down his face after recalling the lost pair of trousers that led to his $54 million lawsuit against a dry cleaner.

Mr Pearson said Jin Chung, Soo Chung and Ki Chung, owners of the business, committed fraud and misled consumers with signs that claimed “Satisfaction Guaranteed” and “Same Day Service”.

Um, Judge Roy Pearson … who is committing the fraud?

This is a travesty. A judge crying about his pants. How on Gods Green Earth can this man be a judge. It is obvious that he is not stable, yet he is a director of the laws of this country.

He was offered $12,000.00 by the owners of the Dry Cleaners.

How did this even get to courts and why did the Courts allowed this case to be heard?

I totally agree with you Miss Underestimated !!
A total abuse of the system and if his peers do not
STOP him and get him the HELP that he so desperately needs
then they are as wrong and misguided as he is .
I am feeling SO, SO down about the current state of our nation and it’s legal system.

This is ridiculous. The judge assigned to hear this case should have thrown it out. Our system has the ability to get rid of frivolous cases, the judges need to exercise some common sense and apply the rules to get rid of cases like this. The system can work, someone is dropping the ball here. Also, the judge who is the plaintiff in this case obviously has some severe mental issues, and should not be sitting on the bench. I hope the state bar association is looking into it.

This IS a travesty, i feel so sorry for the Chungs. I’m sure they are just numb from this whole experience. We’ve seen Judge’s throw out medical lawsuits and civil suits filed by Beth and Dave but this abomination of abuse is allowed to go on and on and on.

So the sueing judge ran out of the courtroom crying huh?
Hahahaha….thats the best news i’ve heard to come out of this farce as maybe now someone will put a stop to this abuse of the Chung’s and the courts.

    5. buster on June 14th, 2007 2:55 pm

Well maybe for 54 million he could buy a LIFE !!! The sad part is the poor couple he is sueing, They are going thru HELL I read about them some time ago.

    6. Richard on June 14th, 2007 3:29 pm

God help us all if this joker is in a position to preside over the Kalpoes’ suit vs. the Dr. Phil show, assuming that it ever is heard.

Aren’t there standards of conduct for judges? If this isn’t a flagrant example of what people at the top of the heap can get away with, what is?

Hey, judge … I’m only 5’2″, but I’ll sell you a pair of my trousers … hell, a whole suit … for less than that.

    7. Miss-Underestimated on June 14th, 2007 4:10 pm

Pearson needs to be barred from the courts.

Is this a jury or judge trial?

If it is a jury trial do you really think these ppl in DC are gonna go against him and if it is a judge call, does anyone think she is gonna go against him.

      Hey where’s Ralph Nader?

Who is watching out for us?

Royalty at it’s best, they (politicans, lawmakers, and judges) make and break the laws.

    8. Mrs. Red on June 14th, 2007 4:59 pm

This case is an example of why I no longer want anything to do with the legal system… judges routinely ruin lives and turn around and do this garbage???

    9. jhawks on June 14th, 2007 5:54 pm

What an arsehole to use us taxpayers like this!

      SAD

    11. Skyboxx on June 14th, 2007 8:06 pm

Are you suggesting he take a ride through the McDonalds drive through and get some hot coffee while he is sans the pants?

    12. maryd on June 14th, 2007 11:53 pm

I hope he loses his shirt trying to find his pants!!! But anyway if you think about it, if both judges are in cahootz than they can split the 54 mil. But than my other question is who would be responsible for paying out the 54 mil???

    13. kitty on June 15th, 2007 12:19 am

      I Object!

He needs to be removed off the bench ~ I so feel badly for the owners of this drycleaners ~ This is over a pair of pants… I question the scruples of the folks who put him on the bench in the first place ~ what’s it all coming to? Our laws are not being upheld (illegal immigration), appx. 12 million are in this country illegally and it may actually be more like 20 million ~ our borders are wide open ~ law enforcement can not do anything about the illegal immigrants…(in my town anyways, as they are not being supported higher up)…our food is being imported and is tainted ~ and kids are being abducted, murdered, raped…the monsters harming kids are being released from prison, some how are allowed out of prison for their evil acts to committ it again ~ (that I will never understand and find it horriffic) the elderly in our country, Bless them are stressed out with lack of medication, being able to afford health care, their bills and so on.. I could go on an on about our country’s problems and then, globaly ~ think of Darfur, Africa ~ folks suffering world wide that would be grateful to have food, shelter, clothing…not be dying of aids ~ loosing loved ones to horrible conditions and this Judge is crying in a court room, and suing a dry cleaner for millions of dollars for lost pants… is he okay to serve? He really needs some counsel and help, truly.

He needs a lesson in Grace, forgiveness and Mercy ~ not the example to lead by, by any means.

      It’s all gone MAD.

    14. LadyDevon on June 15th, 2007 1:06 am

This is unbelievable…Surely there is a petition or citizens’ group that is fighting for the Chungs and all of us who could fall prey to this type of greed.

    15. kw on June 15th, 2007 12:00 pm

Geez… did the buy his pants from Elvis or something???

      That judge is a wack-job!

    16. Miss-Underestimated on June 15th, 2007 4:17 pm

Ha, I hope these aren’t the only pair of pants he loses.
I hope he loses his pants in court too.

      Sad

    17. Brie on June 15th, 2007 9:50 pm

Someone is going to get even and your going to loose your shirt!!!!!!!!

    18. D M Frazier on June 16th, 2007 12:08 pm

You people just don’t get it. Billions (Millions with a capitol “B”) are paid by insurance companies for frivolous lawsuits every year, and you, the consumer, pay higher premiums because of this in direct insurance costs, costs of products and services that are past on to the consumer, not to mention the increased taxes required to sustain the costs of our legal system. There are multi-million lawsuits out there because of federal statues against sending unwanted fax advertisments, asbestos litigation because “someone” might have been exposed but cannot demonstrate any injury. There are more lawyers in the Sear Tower than all of Japan! What does that tell you about our legal system. Do something about it! Tell your legislator it must stop!

    19. maryd on June 16th, 2007 9:10 pm

I think your wrong Frazier most of us do get it. we are just emphasising the abusrdity with a little humor. This case is beyond the obvious. It should be handled in small claims court with Judge Judy at the bench. This guy is obviously trying to take the Chungs to the cleaners.

    20. kc on June 22nd, 2007 4:31 pm

so he is not just a loon, but he’s a wus too!

    21. Larry Traglio on June 25th, 2007 2:11 pm

Isn’t there anyone in this country that has any guts? The ONLY answer in this case is a Chicago Hit Man, both the treat this guy and also to serve notice on those of his kind that the public is not MAD and will handle future cases in thier own way!

    22. Michael on June 25th, 2007 4:45 pm

The articles that I have read about Roy L. Pearson and his garbage law suit is unbelieveable… and whats even worse is that after the case was heard and judged…the idiot still has a licence to practice law… and still is a judge? He has made a joke out of our legal system… and so has Judge Bartnoff for making an example of this idiot.
