Aruban Government Selling Aruba Out from Underneath their People
So Aruba, do you really think your government is looking out for you? They seem to be selling your island right out from beneath you, including the last few beaches where the Aruban public goes. All in the name of money and tourism. Does this represent the people or the wealthy off island investor?
Some may have already received permission, like for Boca Grandi and Baby Beach . We are talking here about the last beaches of Aruba that are not taken by private developers and where the local people frequently go to.
Amigoe, May 21, 2007: Tierra del Sol expands towards Arashi
Guests of the new Tierra del Sol beach hotel will probably also use the idyllic beach of Arashi.
ORANJESTAD — Tierra del Sol is going to build another hotel complex, Punto Arashi, on 21 acres of her own property; near the old flight of stairs to the lighthouse, across of restaurant El Faro Blanco.
Punto Arashi is going to be a beach hotel. ON 25 acres behind the hotel complex, the project developers will build two new branded neighbourhoods, Campo Bello and Paseo Bello. A spokes person of Tierra del Sol said that the plans are of the design table. According to reports, the resort will also ask permission to use part of the Arashi beach for her guests.
UN condemn locking up of juvenile prisoners amongst adults (Aruba: sexual & other violence is taking place against prisoners in the KIA)
The United Nations Committee against Torture goes on record and criticizes Aruba for their treatment of prisoners.
… the huge number of prisoners that are not sentenced in the Antilles and Aruba. They also criticized the sexual abuse and other violence against prisoners that is taking place in Aruba.
The committee also paid attention to the situation in Aruba, where sexual- and other violence is taking place against prisoners in the KIA. This is supposedly done by police officers and prison guards and/or they have no control over this.

WILLEMSTAD/GENEVA – The United Nations’ Committee against Tortures in Geneva criticized the locking up of juvenile prisoners amongst adults, the custody that lasts much too long, and due to this, the huge number of prisoners that are not sentenced in the Antilles and Aruba. They also criticized the sexual abuse and other violence against prisoners that is taking place in Aruba.
