Mike Mankamyer Fell 60 Feet From Carnival Cruise Ship … Lives, Rescued … Then Arrested on Sex Charges

The story initially was reported that a man fell 60 feet off a Carnival cruise ship; however, Carnival_glorythere was much secrecy regarding the event. Mike Mankamyer was eventually rescued, but the story does not end there.

Mankamyer was on Carnival Glory for a cruise to the Bahamas. Early Friday morning, he reportedly jumped 60 feet off a balcony into the Atlantic Ocean.

The Coast Guard finally spotted him 30 miles off Ft. Lauderdale’s coast. He had treaded water for eight hours. Mankamyer – an average swimmer, overweight, with a collapsed lung -had mild hypothermia, but was otherwise fine. (CBS News)

It is being reported at Fox News that 8 hours after Mike Mankamyer was rescued by the Coast Guard he was arrested and charged on sex charges. Of all the people that have gone missing off cruise ships, this one actually was saved.

Michael Mankamyer, 35, of Orlando was charged with sexual battery not likely to cause injury and lewd or lascivious molestation on a victim older than 12, said Liz Malavet, of the Orange County jail’s inmate records. Mankamyer was being held without bond and his first court appearance is Wednesday, she said.

The charges stem from an FBI investigation into Mankamyer’s fall about 70 feet (21 meters) after jumping from the balcony of his room aboard the Carnival Glory in March, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

The FBI reviewed cruise ship records that revealed Mankamyer had escorted at least four teenage boys on separate cruises, Sgt. Rich Mankewich of the sheriff’s sex crimes unit told the newspaper.

i was on the ship when it happened…i had just gone into my room climbing in to my bunk when the cruise director came over the intercom…”BRAVO, BRAVO PORTSIDE” then the ship started 2 shake and i assumed that the ship was taking on water but it wuz just coming 2 a stop… they sent down the biggest lifeboat and did a 4 hour search and then we went on our way to Nassau Bahamas…we only had 5 hours 4 the bahamas rather than the normal 7-8 hours…I was on the deck below which was the upper deck and the deck over us was the Promenade deck so i had made a friend on the same deck and the same side so i called my friend and i went up 2 her room and i saw the god son on the floor handcuffed so i waited at her balcony and watched as they searched…we could see nothing and the seas where pretty rough they were 8-10 ft seas

No Child Sex Charges Against Man Who Jumped Off Cruise Ship – Orlando Florida Prosecutors Duped By Child Who Lied To Get Out Of School
ORLANDO, FLORIDA – Orlando prosecutors won’t press child sex charges against a man arrested after being rescued from eight hours at sea when he jumped off a cruise ship.

Michael Mankamyer faced potential child molestation and sexual assault charges, but state prosecutors decided earlier this month not to pursue them when the alleged victim recanted.

The investigation stemmed from an FBI probe that revealed that he had escorted at least four teenage boys on separate cruises.

A 16-year-old boy who accompanied Mankamyer wrote in a statement to prosecutors that he lied to get out of school.

Mankamyer was friends with the boy’s parents. They told prosecutors they didn’t think anything wrong happened.

The alleged boy who was molested is my brother. What the FBI did’t tell the media is that they locked him in a room at school for 4 hours until he said something they wanted to hear.
