Emergency War Spending Bill Includes 100 Million For Political “Parties”
The special appropriations bill is supposed to allocated money to pay for the war efforts in Iraq and Iran. Instead, after making its way through the Democrats budgetary process, the bill now is so full of pork that it has risen to a level of obscenity. These politicians have the audacity to include 100 million dollars to pay for their conventions.
Of course, it is these same Democrats that ran on fiscal responsibility that are pulling this garbage, but are you surprised?
The $100 million for the political party conventions — $50 million for the Democratic convention in Denver and $50 million for the Republican convention in St. Paul, Minn. — is included in a section described as “Katrina recovery, veterans’ care and for other purposes.”
The Senate Appropriations Committee noted that the committee provided roughly $50 million to help defray the costs of policing the 2004 conventions. A senate staffer pointed out, however, that the 2004 funding earned approval through the normal appropriations process rather than the less-stringent “emergency” process permitted for the current bill.
The new bill also includes $13 million for “ewe replacement and retention,” $24 million for sugar beets growers and $95 million for dairy producers.
Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said the bill contains “enough in each of the four food groups for a balanced meal.”via the Examiner.com

Is that and Aruba pig or a democratic pig? It’s hard for me to tell the difference.
All of these SOB’s should be ashamed of themselves.
Pork, pork and more pork.
God forbid they ever just deal with an issue at hand. Instead, every politician needs to be bribed in order to have them vote for something else.
There is one rememdy to most all the political BS that goes on with both Reps & Dem’s …
TERM LIMITS
R
Doesn’t that take an act of congress to change the term limits?
I also think the term limits should be on all government officials. mayors, trustees, etc. Too many small towns have mayors that think they are kings.
Hmm, the war efforts in Iraq and Iran ?
I thought George had not started the war in Iran yet.
I guess its time to go and kick some ass there as well.
Hey aren’t the hosting cities suppose to supply the security?
An updated Congressional Research Service report shows that Congress has approved $510 billion for military operations since the 9/11 attacks. And of the $510 billion already appropriated, $378 billion (74%) has been allocated for the war in Iraq. If the Supplemental request is approved as submitted by the President, the total war-related appropriations thru FY2007 will be about $607 billion, with $448 billion of that for Iraq.
The full CRS Report here:

The $448 billion is the cost of the President’s pork barrel project in Iraq, and I for one LOVE the idea of Congress adding another $20 billion to the President’s war spending request. At least that $20 billion will benefit Americans who are paying for the President’s failed nation building project.
Bodo: Figures don’t lie but liars do figure. Here’s the “problem” with those stats:
1. the numbers include salaries and equipment for all soldiers in Iraq. Most of those salaries and equipment would still be needed even if we were not in Iraq.
2. Some of those numbers include the rebuilding, education and humanitarian aid given to the Iraqi people. Do you object to that also?
Lastly: Going with your persuasion of being against the war in Iraq (which I am not), are you trying to say two “wrongs” make a right? Bleed the taxpayers for Iraq so it’s okay to also bleed them for every congressional pet project? You can really justify the hard working taxpayers of America to pay $50,000 million to each political party so they can live high on the hog at their conventions? When is enough, enough?
